geforce has the following numbers, example: 610. 6 is for series and 10 for the type of the series. type go from 10 to 90. the type number matters the most. if you get a 10 type, you will get low performance. 40 for example is a bit better. from 50 you go into low gaming, 80 an 90 is high end. Ti stands for slightly better version. except for the 1080 ti at the moment which is 30 percent better than the normal 1080. notice, 10 is series and 80 is type. so when you have a 710, vs a 240, it is obvious that the 240 was way stronger in comparison at its launch then the 710. also technology is developing. the 240 is baked at 40nm and the 710 at 28nm. so the 240 may do a little better, but will probably use more power to do the same. hope this clarifies it a bit.
