What's the deal with Windows 10 fall Creator update version?
I thought the fall Creator update was final so I used the media creation tool and downloaded the latest fall Creator update from Microsoft. I did a clean install, installed the latest chipset drivers and the latest Intel management driver exc exc..

Problem number one is Microsoft Edge browser. It launches but when I type in the search bar and click enter Edge does nothing for close to two minutes. If I type in Google, Bing by default shows me google.com and when I click on it nothing happens. If I give it a few minutes the web page will open. I've tried going into settings and resetting Edge and also repair with no avail. My saved bookmarks never show up.. anybody have any ideas?

Problem number two, if I click on start, my app window opens, and I see all the shit that I don't want installed so I right click and select uninstall but yet the app icon remains. I actually have to select unpin for it to disappear. Even if I go into settings and select apps and select uninstall it does the same thing. It says it's uninstalled but yet that app icon remains..

I've checked all my drivers and everything is up to date as well as any Microsoft updates for Windows..

Problem number three..

The Microsoft store, I click on it and it takes a while to open up, and then when I select check for updates it gives me a whole list and it tries to update but gives me an error. If I let it sit for a while they'll install properly.

I've reset my modem and router believing it's connectivity issue but still nothing.

I've done 2 clean installs and the same shit keeps happening.

Back to problem number one with edge browser. I install Firefox and it works like a charm. Has anybody else encountered these issues and if so have you found a fix? Any help in these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Does it happen the same actually without doing intel drivers?

when the Edge stalls tried runny DPC latency mon? It could give some hints.

It does it straight out of the gate, right from a clean install.

I don't use Microsoft edge, but I'll try it ,and report back.

during "Fall" (calendar Fall) I have had issues with Edge (slowness to say the least) and last week I had an Edge bug (infinite windows opening). Well I did some brute force registery cleaning, who knows....
Any way, this weekend I installed the latest Fast Ring Build and it is sweet.

Most of your issues are just "live with it", little bugs...

When Windows 10 first came out I had no issues. Then the Creator update came out and I had problems and went back to the regular Windows 10 version until the Creator update was running fine.

Stupid me I formatted my USB stick that had a proper working creators update.. now I'm kind of screwed! All I have is the original OEM disk West Originals window 10 on it.. so if I end up not finding a fix for these issues how is this going to work. I mean if I install off the disc Windows 10 the original and going through Windows updates is it going to install the Creator and then after that the fall Creator update?

I'm not one for installing a patch over a patch over a patch if you know what I mean.. that's the only reason why I downloaded the latest fall creator version just so I had a non parched operating system.

I had the impression the fall update was final and more or less out of public beta testing January 22nd or the 28th if I can remember exactly which.

edge is pretty much as fast as FF, or Chrome for me as far as i can tell, sorry

I did a clean install of the fall update a few weeks ago when I upgraded my system. (New cpu, motherboard, ram and an m.2 ssd.)

The first boot after install, and perhaps maybe even after a restart or two Edge lagged horribly! I was using it to try and download motherboard drivers, chrome and firefox.

I honestly can't say exactly what changed, but either after the reboots or even driver updates Edge went back to working as it usually does.

Yes that was 2 weeks ago and around the same time I installed the fall update and what you're describing is exactly what was going on with my system. After a couple reboots and such the system seem to normalize.

A few weeks ago it was a different sub build number compared to what I downloaded a couple days ago.. so whatever they did they screwed something up.

When it comes to browser I use Opera but I have Chrome and Firefox. I findOpera to use less memory. The Fall updates are big and can use more than 20GB due to it creates a Windows.Old

Far as performance it stays the same

Was there any Windows updates yesterday does anybody know? I wasn't home yesterday and wont get home till late tonight.

@Solaris17 or anybody else know where I can download the build from a couple weeks ago?

I'm kind of hooped here at the moment as I beta test for AMD and it's pretty hard beta testing for them with a screwed-up Windows build :/

@silentbogo, what version of 10 is known to work ok and whats broken? I think you mentioned it in a trolls thread???

What trolls thread?

I need whatever build or branch from the first two weeks of January.

If anybody used the media creation tool during that time it would help me out a lot if you could zip up the contents of the USB stick and upload them somewhere and send me a PM of where I can get download it from. I used windows 10 home Edition but I'm sure any version will work once I type in my activation key.

Let me see if i can find it. The thread was locked and the troll got banned

I had the same issue recently on a brand new build, the solution was to create a new admin user account and delete the one created during the windows setup.
You may also notice that all the junk "windows apps" links in the start menu are broken.
Extremely annoying that I had to spend hours trying to figure out what Microsoft had screwed up with a major live release build.

There is an "important" update that released today. As @Drone pointed out in this thread:

It might help brother! :peace:

Keep us posted man.
Dude, like WTF?!!

Ok 1st off I didn't get the update as I just got home and checked and Edge is working like nothing even happened :kookoo:

I got an ISO image from a trusted source, used Rufus to make it bootable off thumb stick and I thought lets check once more and it works..

I wonder if it was an issue with M$ servers on Monday  But it works... everything works :peace:

Well I learned a few things today thanks to you all and also have the Image I needed..

Thanks guys for the tips and help :respect:

Must of needed to optimize itself...

Problem number one is Microsoft Edge browser.
Edge is liked by some but most prefer a better experience. If Firefox or Chrome are preferred uninstall Edge using a method described below.
installed the latest .... Intel management driver
That was unwise, uninstall as there are known, and unknown, vulnerabilities with the Intel ME and AMT. Then disable the hardware components in the device manager.

That is a known glitch. Using an app remover or using advanced methods will help resolve the problem. See the following;

It corrected itself, saw this in another thread...

Whoops, I'm late to the party. Regarding Edge glitch - still haven't encountered that one...

Though, I did encounter this just 2 days ago when I was fixing an older Fujitsu ultrabook (ivy bridge i5):

Also, there was a problem with installing additional UI languages and features. Basically I'm using an Eng installer and then add Rus UI if I need it, but this time when I click "download" button, the progress bar goes to ~5% and then resets. Same with updates - some will download immediately, some will fail for 2-3 attempts. Apps could only be removed from settings menu, but not from start.
Reinstalled Win10 from the same media I used the first time (1711) with the same key and the same initial settings, and it was all fine.

I have the well known to the webs 'Start Menu Not working / Slow opening apps from taskbar' like you in RS3 aka Fall Creators update,
Even after CLEAN windows install...and there is no permanent fix out there, until M$ fix it.
So i have clean install RS2 Iso and block the updates so RS3 dont install to my system.
Im waiting for RS4 to be released hopefully fixes all those issues...but i doubt, they only thing they do is adding more and more bloatware.

All those articles are fresth from January 2018, mind you all those ''FIXES'' dont work.

Video from 2015, until now the problems still exist:
