I bought a 2080ti from a seller at hardforum and sent it as gift. Then sell it back to ebay for a profit but the buyer on ebay said its an empty box without the card; there are only 2 hard drives inside the box. The usps box outisde was torn off 1 side as I can see on the video. Who scam me? The seller or the buyer? I message the seller and he knew the item was shipped back to cali and the buyer name. I was watching the video that buy sent me and I cant even see the mailing label on the shipping box. Both seem fishy to me but in the end Im still the loser. Buyer has ebay protection, the seller got it as gift.
Here is the video

What you should do is respond to the thread on HardForum where you bought the video card!

Here is the thread https://hardforum.com/threads/bad-trade-beheo2019-with-rtx-2080ti.1995254/

Sounds like you tried to pull something- or the eBay buyer pulled something on you.

The video that you posted- the person has no reaction to what is in the box, you cannot see the shipping label.

I cannot believe people would do something like this- you even used the buyers pictures from HardForum to post on eBay.

Please do the right thing and respond to the thread on HardForum. I mean why would you just re-ship a package without checking the context of it? Something is very fishy here.

They banned me. How can I respond? The guy sold me the card got his money back. Paypal already sent me an email. First, you and I cant even see the shipping label on the video, but how the guy sold me the card can see it. He knew where I ship it to and whos the buyer name? That make me think he scammed me. When I received his package, I just peeled off the shipping label and put my label there. I didnt want to open the item coz I marked on ebay its new one.If I peel of the USPS package and open the Nvidia box, how can it be brand new unboxed item? So I dont know what is really inside. The buyer in ebay keep claiming he has no card and want to return for a refund. I really dont know who is the right guy I should believe.

Looks like a scam video to me.
No reaction to two HDD's in a box that should have a 2080ti? I call BS

Any item sold to you should be inspected everytime no matter what the seller says.
A 2080ti new in box for less than $900 should be opened that is a TGTBT kind of thing.

What a joke unboxing video. Why put HDDs if you scam someone? Put something completely worthless for weight.

eBay guy tries to keep the card and money. Can't you check the shipping receipts for weight?

And looks like the package was already open in the other side.

This. I've read few scenarios like someone buys something used, lets it be in a box for months and then tests it and says it has problems or it's defective.

For less valuable items like old graphics cards (or any computer parts) I've just inspected that it's visually ok; if it's defective after sitting months untested in a box then I should just blame myself.

You paid for the card on Hardforum as a gift?

If so, you screwed yourself.

I have shipped so many times and never seen USPS broke the box like that too. Ebay buyer makes me think anything happen during shipment also or its just his stage. Earlier today, I also mention him that I sent a video to the original seller, this ebay guy told me I violate ebay privacy rules coz I shared his name and address. I felt like he demand something more from me, but I said I dont care then he just did not mention it again. Really want to come to his house and see what kinda person he is.

This guy has 100% positive feedback and member on eBay since 2005. However, his return request looks a bit suspicious, if you get ripped off, why would you care about the condition of the package? Too much irrelevant information in his claim.

But to be honest, it can be anyone... even you, or the USPS guy... hell there is "insured" label on it and delivery guys deserve a risk bonus for COVID-19.

He doesnt have any transaction for a whole year I think. To sum up, im the biggest loser now.

I mean, neither do I. But that doesn't mean it's not a scam either. Could be a hijacked account, or even a legit account trying to scam you. Hard to say. Something is fishy with this whole thing though, IMO, and I can't say what because I just don't have all the info.

Yep!! looks like he ripped you off.

File for a dispute, tell eBay the video is scripted.

If you are the honest party here, you have nothing to lose and a lot to gain by trying this. It probably won't work, but again, what do you have to lose?

Also, holy crap that's a lot of "private listings" in his profile. That's a red flag, too.

Was this thread ever made? I'd like to weigh in now that I'm locked out of replying to the FS threads. I really don't feel like s#!tposting at HF just to be able to respond to a FS thread. I suppose I could PM the seller, but I don't like feeling like I'm skirting around the rules.

Did not want to tell the seller on hf I bought his card and sell it back for a profit coz it will make him mad, but thats my mistake and it makes him think im a bad guy. When I mentioned about the package was torn of the other side and package was delivered at noon and he made a claim at night, he said his mom picked up the package and put by his door. It makes me think this guy is a kid or so.

You have his details, if I were you, I wouldn't let some guy rip me off for $800 just-like-that. Even if I won't get the money back, i'd still make him pay one way or another.

Tell him you'll send him a replacement, send him a big box just with a rag and piece of paper that says "now you have COVID-19".

The original seller said hes willing to come to this ebay guy house to see whats going on and I support it 100%.

Tell him to use paper or homemade sandbag, or just stone next time he makes a fake unboxing video.

Scammers don't hand over free hardware when they scam... that's the entire point of scamming.

He should also try to look suprised somehow, and then make the return request shorter and to the point.

The condition of the package doesn't matter when you get ripped off.

You learned an important lesion, I would hope.

Here's the problem, you could file a civil claim, but you have no proof as to which one ripped you off

Probably a federal crime

Except its not his problem..Your the one who sold it to the new scammer.

That's a BS line. I think he did it. No one would confront someone for you

This tnt3k guy has a flawless record on Heatware and HardOCP.

Now, the other person (mrthanhnguyen) found a way to make a quick buck. He has no interest for this deal to go wrong. Also have 99% positive rating?

The eBay buyer seems fishy to me. The unboxing video is a joke, negative feedback, and his return claim sounds ridiculous to me.

OP should call the police on that guy. That's theft and scam. If they don't do anything, then send fake COVID-19 box. ;)

Serves you right for asking to ship it to your "brother from another mother". Next time have the goods delivered to you and then ship it to whoever you're trying to resell it to. That way original seller doesn't have to deal with PP and his -$800 balance. Get rekt.
