fitting a 92mm AIO in a case with no 92mm fan mount

So I am in a bind.

Got a GTX 980 TI that wont fit in an HP PC case. So now I will have to move the motherboard and all to another case. Issue is, the HP AIO that comes with it is a 92mm one, and not 120mm.

Any ideas on mounting it or should I just say to heck with it and not bother?

It used to be the case about a decade and a half ago when you could get fan shrouds that would convert 120mm to 92mm or 120mm to 140mm etc etc etc etc

Some places still do them

Theres even a few on ebay

Its not perfect but its an option.

Im aware that these might be out of stock but it should serve as an idea of what you need to look for should you decide that its what you want to do.

Ziptie it to the chassis using the venting cut in the 120mm fan location.

Another option.

I found some cases where the fan mounts can actually fit more than 120mm fans. So I presume the 92mm may fit there. But yeah, the brackets that freedom mentioned may work if I can find them.

I have a 3½" hole saw in the bottom of my tool kit that I used to cut blow-holes in the side panels of several cases back when most weren't designed for much cooling. Start by drilling the four holes for the mounting screws, mark the center for the hole saw and go to town making some noise. Once you've got the hole drilled, clean up the swarf, slap on a fan grill of your favorite design, and Bob's your uncle.

If that sounds too adventuresome and you have a 120mm mounting location free, you could just use a $7 mounting adapter.

I have been thinking of doing this solution. Last time I did that was about 20 years ago with old cases where you can pimp them out with the custom fan grills you could find out and about. Did that on my old Athlon XP machine (last time).

I got no problem doing that.

Unless you have a large hole on the rear of the case where the 120mm fan goes, mount it there and no need to drill, place the screws through the rear mesh.

I figured too. Maybe add in washers to the screws so it would hold better.

Last option is saying screw it, put my GTX 1070 in the system and put the GTX 980 to in my system. Since the 980ti isn't far off in performance to my 1070

Ah, zip ties to the rescue, AGAIN, and possibly assisted by a dremel tool.....hahaha

This only works if the mesh openings match up close enough to the fan's corner mounts....which again, zip ties and/or a dremel tool can help alleviate this issue

well, since the case of this HP Envy machine has the antenna's for the wifi card on the top, I really do not feel like trying to strip that out. I tried the GTX 980 ti in my T3500 and it itself cannot fit in that case. LOL. So, I am back at square one. Either I just try to continue with this or look for another GPU.
