I sold my old gaming rig for $1000 and managed to find the 2080 used in my area. I jumped on it because it wasn't a bad deal, guy wasn't scalping like most people. The 3060ti's and higher are going for $1400 or more near me. I know the market isn't going to catch up for over a year and with mining companies and scalpers buying up all the new gpu's it was either this or drive 6 hours to get a used 1080ti. And it's big, it dwarfs my 1070 and barely fit in my case.
