I'm looking at getting a new PSU. I really would like it to be fully modular, as i would like to be able to get full custom cables for it. Also would like 3x 8pin PCIe and 2x CPU power. My board has 2x 8 pin CPU power and i only have 1 connected, but would like both connected(why not) Brand does not really bother me at all, but must be 80+ gold at least if not better. As to size, maybe 750-800 as i probably will be trying to get a 3070ti later this year.

a good power supply is THE heart of a pc. so i would personally go for quality.
I was very convinced by the construction of the interior.

200€ -- but worth it

brand should matter to buyers, you get what you pay for when it comes to quality and dependability. I suggest try to find a platinum if you can.

Budget will be about £250

Really would like custom cable compatible though as a no.1 must have

I did state must be fully modular. My current one has a captive ATX 24 pin, so have got extensions for now.

Seasonic Prime TX 750+ - best series on the market.

Which PSU's of the recommended ones have available custom cables?

Thx guys :)

+1 to Seasonic. I can't seem to find a decently priced one here where I'm at and have resorted to Cooler Master.

For custom cables my go to is dreambigbyray. You can tell the brand of the power supply and length and color you want while costing a fraction of what cablemod offers.

when you open the hose. the cables are individually sleeved. you can buy cable combs separately. they cost a few cents.

Cablemods makes them for pretty much any psu just check their configuator. +1 on the seaonic prime series.

BitFenix Whisper 850W and Seasonic FOCUS-PX-850 have inline capacitors on the cable IIRC. Not big deal but probably something you might need to consider especially for custom cable compatibility.

Seasonic PRIME-850 PX/TX doesn't looks like using inline caps, and you can go to town with the modularity. Might be a bit overkill tho.

Edit: Newer Seasonic Focus seems to get rid of the inline caps.

Find the cheapest you can from a recently made PSU tier list thats on the highest grade. I know LTT forums have one and i imagine most forums will have one as well.
At the end of the day most high end PSUs perform similarly, you just need to know which ones to look for and there are plenty.

The Corsair RM series are all really nice. All cables of the diferent generations of RM series share the same pin-out except the 24pin, which you should only need one anyway!

They aren't necessarily marketed for low noise, but they go fully silent quite often, if you have proper airflow the PSU fan only comes on usually past 55-60%, which makes sense as that's the peak efficiency curve point. Now, I don't know what kind of system you plan to build there, but I need to do some serious hard work to be able to get past the 60% point on my RM 850 (2019).

I got it this year too and because it's the 2019 version (at least in EU they are still for sale) it's super cheap. Paid around 100€ and its a gold 80+. The reason being, again, the cables are interchangeable with the latest RM series but the latest PSU only got ever so slightly better.

Technically it has all you ask for:

It can do ATX 8 pin x2 and/or EPS. Plus 3 pci-e 8pin and a bunch of 6pin slots that can be either for pci-e or for peripherals.

One set or good cables comes with it. I don't believe you can pick the stock color, they will match the PSU (white, black AFAIK).

Now.. I really like this PSU for my gaming PC, but as an ex-miner I can immediately point the following downsides:
- does not come with cpu 4+4 to 8pin cable or adapter;
- only comes with a single MOLEX cable. Sure, it's a 4x molex cable, but for a miming rig you'd want a single molex per riser anyway to be fire-safe;
- single cables are extremely expensive. Sets aren't cheap either and you often only want half of it (i.e. who the heck needs 2 24pin cables?). However, mini-sets that perfectly fit gaming or other "normal" needs are also available, it's as if this PSU was made to keep miners away

Other than that, I've had good experience with Seasonic and XFX. Bad experiences with CoolerMaster (however really good with other products).

Hope that helps
