If I'm not mistaken these are upgrades right? I think I member this system.

Why dual 4090's? They dont even have nvlink.

You have to be pulling over 1600 watts with that setup! Anyways, do some Hashcat for us :). It was scary when I cracked my own passwords within a few minutes on the RTX 3080. Realized all my passwords were pretty weak. Make sure they are 12 characters long and not a real word people.

I suppose the 4090s work in parallel when they are used in deep learning tasks. It's like the dual socket mobos with 2 cpus.

What about gaming though? Do they work without nv-link?

Give some batches to this card and some batches to other card.
If 3090 was BFGPU, then dual 4090 is big bitch gpu :peace:

Cool setup but I think I would of waited for RDNA 3.... Interesting post :toast:

I WANT amd to have a halo card that is better than nvidia’s halo card, especially at ray tracing and DL

but statistically and historically - it is unlikely

every time so far, it’s become some statement about value vs performance, but it would be nice just to see and actually beat nvidia’s halo card

fingers crossed, because we definitely need some real completion on nvidia

Yes sir, these are updates, there were other updates in the box as well such as ram. and a few other nick nacks

Strange as it feels to say it, but those CPU's would likely hold back a 4090 in gaming.

My lord what a sick build though, can't say I'm not jealous. Hell even half the system is ridiculous.

@venturi can you give me a real world example where Deep Learning has helped humanity in some way? I really don't know anything about it and am just curious.

also you should try folding at home with them, be funny to see the points per day they get

It gives people jobs ;) that helps with homelessness.

Technically there is nothing stopping anyone from building a wooden hut, as they did in Ancient Greece, homelessness definition simply depends on your perception of reality.

Here's an example: you take a photo of something in front of you, then an online shopping app finds it for you. Pretty useful when you don't know what it is called or can't search the exact product with text.

Here's another: you scan satellite imagery of point cloud data from trees, and discover which ones are not growing fast enough due to malnutrition or fire or being overshadowed by neighboring trees. You can measure their trunk size (which is humanly impossible if you're dealing with thousands of trees)

I remember your previous 2 builds in the same rig, looking nice.

damn, looks like an hot rod :D

@Bomby569 go see it in the thread @P4-630 mentioned. Pics there with PC dropped its pants off

How does this fare against a 3990WX? Have an experience with another Cascade Lake cpus, they are (almost) nothing but extreme power hogs, they sell for pretty cheap tho.

Well, this is somewhat a different platform. I’m not sure about “the power hogs” but the 8280L pair seem to work fine and so far do great for me. All core runs at 3.3 ghz and dynamic runs at 4 ghz + with the bios settings I have. Temps are quite cool, no issues

but I do not have experience with the 3990wx so I can’t really provide a point to point comparison

OP, you cannot have two threads of the same topic/content. Will have to shut this down and keep the other active.
