Well this morning I ran a session of TWWH3 from about 2 AM to 5 AM. When I checked HWinfo my Memory temp and Hot Spot temp were both 90 C. If you have zero fan enabled (default) I could see that temp increasing by at least another 10 degrees. Even my Chipset was at 88 C. That means that the fans are radiating a tremendous heat load into my case. If you don't have proper airflow you could probably add another 5 or so degrees to that temp. I forgot how loud GPU fans are as well and am glad that my block is on the way. I don't have a reference card either. To be fair I do have the Power limit turned up and the GPU OC as well but anyone can do that too.

Man, 95 people so far with issues just from people that read this website, this is way more wide spread than AMD is letting on...

Read the comments from the thread, people are voting "Yes" even though they admit they don't actually have this issue, not to mention the who knows how many trolls who are also voting.

I voted no.
I am getting 110.c junction temp with about a 85.c gpu temp but the card stays boosted at or above rated speeds.

I got the reference powercolor card on launch day.

How does it sound? what's the fan RPM at?

I would imagine different coolers have different water levels so I doubt it's even a binary issue since it's a physical defect at the time of manufacture - these tend to have natural variance to them.

It's loud but doesn't impact me since i have the case under my desk and im usually playing with headphones. I also dislike the nzxt h1 because of it's horrible airflow so i also have 2 other fans exhausting out the back to help which is adding to the noise.

After playing BF2042, average fan speed was about 90%.

I actually moved from the H1 to the Sliger S610 (and later S620) - so I know the days of surfing etsy for 3dprinted fan holders well :toast:. I think the H1's orientation also hurts the default cooler in general -- they perform fine when in a vertical test bench, but reports of horizontally and vertically at 90 degrees like the H1/ Meshilicious it has (allegedly) a hard time as well. I wonder if you put the H1 on its glass side down if the temps get better.

Temps went down about 10.c when i put it on it's glass side... I hate this case lol

Just for fun, try turning the case 90 degree and then game to see if the temp\noise\rpm change.

These are good data points.

That's not surprising unfortunately. If we believe this poll's numbers almost 30% of all 7900 XT and 7900 XTX cards have the issue. The problem with that is we know for a fact it's only the reference version of the 7900 XTX that has the issue and only a limited batch among those.

What is the average RMA % of GPU`s in general?
I guess it`s in the sub 1% isn`t it?

Last time GN checked it was below 1% yes. Overall Nvidia and AMD cards have a similar RMA rate.

When I had the H440 I removed the front panel and front filter so that at least the cast had positive pressure. The three front intakes and three top exhausts are restricted, so that's pretty balanced - but with the additional 140mm unrestricted in the rear, that was a lot of additional exhaust.

It handled a 3900X and Quadro RTX 6000 (2080Ti w/24GB) just fine like that.

I have been posting this information in the Owner Garden but I wanted everyone to see this. Please note the temps and fan speed. There is definitely something wrong with the default fan profiles for these cards as you can see that the card pulls 366 Watts. Having the fans spin at 2300 RPM is way too low for me for that kind of load.

And I am truly sorry to hear that you've had a less than positive experience so far on 7900XTX MERC319, but this poll is about the 110C reference card issue. Why would you vote yes and make the poll results less reliable if you don't have the junction temp problem?
If there is any scientific study of the poll, there will be a review of the comments. One person on here didn't even have a 7900 xtx but voted.

I bought the most expensive version of their flagship and am in a really bad spot for it, which is something that has never ever happened on any of my other AMD tech, I only buy amd, even my mobile is a 6600m. My story is anecdotal, but it is mine and I took the time to share it on a forum filled with enthusiasts, I'm not spamming Twitter or dropping a vote and not explaining why like most people. I wrote a longer letter to amd and xfx but no response. I come here for therapeutic wailing and weeping about my woes.

I'm coming to edit just to say I'm not out to slander AMD or xfx, that's why this hurts so bad. I don't want anything but great-competitive and operable tech that creates an equilibrium in the market. I want AMD to be good. I also will support Intel Ark as much as I can even though I've historically boycotted them for being the top dog.

Let me clarify, I didn't accuse you of slandering AMD - this manufacturing problem and their response to it are what put them squarely in this hole and I feel no sympathy for them. It is perfectly fine for you to vote no then also share your experience in this thread or the RX7000 owners thread. Some of the more radical users around here believe otherwise, but real user feedback should always be welcomed even if it is negative.

But that's not what the poll asked. Just because some of our resident trolls are inevitably trying to fuck up the stats isn't an invitation for you to do the same?

2300 RPM is not low at all, my 7900 XT also pulls over 300W stock and the fans spin at around 1700 RPM.

While the Memory is at 96 C?

You do realize the fan speed doesn't affect the memory temperature very much, right ? On my card it sits at about 90C at the aforementioned 1700 RPM, also this is more or less part of the course considering that the memory and GPU share the vapor chamber.

I didn't mess up the stats, my card doesn't work that is brand new flagship. You claiming that I fucked up the stats is hyperbolic, calm down. I also, didn't accuse you of accusing me of AMD slander, I am speaking my experiences for 7900xtx merc speedster as of Jan 9th. Do you even own a 7900xtx?
I literally can't use my less than a month old card with out it short circuiting. It may not fit the exact criteria of the poll, but it is a superbig first wave problem on a custom model of the flagship that I clarified.

I'm curious about your PPD on the 7900XT. My 6800XT gets 3.5-5.0 million PPD depending on the work units.

Sample size of this one WU, but it looks like this one is only managing 2.5M PPD, wonder why it's so much lower than your 6800XT?

Well @68Olds I found the problem, for some reason having FAH Web Control open ruins the PPD. I closed it and went on with my life and just checked back and the estimated PPD is up to 3.2M.

7900 xt doesn't do as much as I was expecting in Folding, that is a shame. maybe it still needs a software update to utilize the new hardware.

Yeah, if a 6800XT and a 7900XT both get about the same PPD that's a bummer. Still better than the 0 PPD my Arc A380 can do, since Intel refuses to fix the FP64 stability of their driver which means F@H is a no-go.

Well I am impressed that 300+ users got the card - in Denmark the reference models are vapor ware

where did you get 300 from? over 1,062 according to the poll.

my guess is majority of those are just trolls though. such is the nature of the online world. lol

If Igor info is true, that is ~10% RMA over bad VC issue, than we have a fun fact of ~200 'Yes' troll vote.
But how much trolled 'No'?
:D

AMD rushed too many products at once and sacrificed quality control imo. My 7700x would get errors in Prime95 at stock and I know I am not alone, several people on these forums voiced problems. A true shame, I used to love AMD, but this is really unacceptable.
