12Gb GPUs already obsolete, brand new game takes up to 18Gb Vram at 1440p

DLSS with RT off reduces VRAM usage.

The dude is just using the previous chart to try and twist it towards his own agenda...

Obviously using upscaling doesn't increase vram consumption...

Dlss does NOT increase vram consumption... it lowers the internal render res, so why on earth would it... -_-
I didn't say it increases VRAM consumption, I said it's cost is non trivial, if you are VRAM constrained DLSS wont solve your problems.

Are you both actually blind ?

4K native no rt and 4k dlss quality no rt both use roughly 9.8 GB.

It's a hilariously bad port lol.
Yet is still indicative of the future or are bad ports new?!?, Let's Be realistic while jumping into defence mode,, also would that then dissuade those who were looking to enjoy the game, no.

And so the point of the OP stands.

Why are you comparing different scenes? Native outside 10GB, DLSS outside 9 GB.

It's just allocation, not usage.
Plus bad porting\coding.
Plus you have some 20-24gb cards so devs might choose to utilize than (not that game).
If you must have the maximum max, you must pay for it, large. Or do some compromise, it's the same and right thing to do.

Lol, you're clutching at straws and it's not 10gb vs 9gb.

It's 10gb vs 9.8gb to be more precise, 200mb, wow amazing.

Depends on the game. I have no VRAM issues playing at 4K with 6700 XT (12GB).

What a surprising and unexpected twist of fate that truly nobody could have seen coming or warn others about.

Also Nvidia stubbornness to not equip their midrange cards with sufficient Vram despite pc ports almost doubling in vram requirements in just two years, you either pay close to a grand for a gpu or play games with reduced quality and textures that are lower than a ps5 or a Series X

It's an intentional strategy from nvidia to force people to upgrade more often. Simple as that.

It's ok Nvidia owners turning down settings gives you MOAR FRAMES anyways win/win Nvidia just looking out for all ya all.

Guess we can both test, no?
Yeah in Cyberpunk Quality FSR adds a good 800MB. Thats why Im curious what you mean to say here, because lower render res is a further reduction to quality instead.

1. RTX GPU has over 30% marketshare, yet DLSS is excluded
2. <1.5% of all dGPU have over 18GB VRAM for this game to work

Fantastic move from AMD :D, they are actively trying to nuke PC gaming at this point (so people would move to console)
Naaah you Nvidia boys can just use the Low preset instead dont worry. What AMD (never knew they suddenly dev games now but YMMV) is 'doing' is executing a long term strategy that leaves Nvidia with an abundance of market share eventually filled with disgruntled gamers on PC, while AMD console peasants run content on AMD hardware more adequately. Meanwhile, PC gaming will remain because the vast majority is fine using several platforms each for its own purpose. PC for porn and indie plus an infinite backlog, console for the latest greatest in gaming.

You can paint the picture for camp green now I think, it doesnt look fantastic. Nvidia is just a player in this game. It doesnt matter how much PC share they have if their products lose competitive edge - even vs consoles. They are and continue to price themselves out of their own market.

Nvidia is absolutely wrong on this, new buyers should stay away from low VRAM cards, but this helps nothing to the discourse for people that already own them and can't do anything about it, and want to see what they can do.
I guess laughing at others misery is a thing that exists.

The game is optimised for consoles with 16 GB system RAM, that's why it uses 18 GB VRAM on PC... um... what? Something doesn't add up.

Likely, and yet another strong indicator where gaming is headed / heading.

Allocation vs utilization? ;)

Nvidia fear that Quadro buyers will go with a RTX card if they give these cards the same amount of vram as the Quadro cards got.

People have already for years been buying GeForce cards instead of Quadro cards because they are cheaper for these who cannot afford Nvidia's already stupid price taxes.

You need a crowbar and sufficient force to beat cognitive dissonance into submission. Ive been beating the VRAM drum since Turing. People said all was well and wtf are you on about. I repeated it on Ampere, and here we are today.

So yes, I enjoy their misery, hopefully now they start getting the memo. In the end it might inspire better consumer choices and then in some utopia future we regain sensible products.

If it's just allocation, then what issues are we really talking about? :D
I think people forget the consoles run a different pipeline especially wrt VRAM and moving data around. They do it more efficiently, so its not strange especially on lower bandwidth dGPU cards that they like to store as much as they can. Also note that they tend to target low FPS for demanding games that prioritize IQ. But 30 FPS on a PC is often considered too low. Lower FPS = higher latency per frame = more time for swapping.

screaming wolf.... we've been here before countless times, i remember the 1060 6GB drama, and they are still around, gamed for years with no issue. If this time is really different idk

The 3 GBs are widely seen as insufficient though in comparison, sometimes even surpassed by a 4 GB 1050ti. Pascal wasnt the time I was screaming either btw ;) your response signifies why I love misery. People wanna be stubborn, suit yourself...

PC ports are derived from console ports, that's you see pc games look similar to their console ports minus textures and framerates, consoles are the biggest money in multi platform games, nearly 70% of sales are on consoles so it make sense for developers to develop for consoles first, then port to pc with slight improvements, if you think pc gaming is vastly different than consoles you are wrong, since the ps4 and Xbox one days, consoles are pcs with a different operating system using pc x86 architecture

Lisa Su in the Gordon Freeman suit beating Nvidia drones with a crowbar.

Damn, I really need to install stable diffusion.
