What GPU would you recommend for a E8600 cpu?

What GPU would you recommend for a E8600 CPU?This is it here the GT 420 spins but does not boot up,the Geforce 7600gt does not spin and gets very hot.And when i had it on the board i was half way getting Vista installed and the board shut down.I was thinking something like thE GTX660 TI or the 750. i am not sure of what Radeon cards i could use ,i understand they need a lot of power.I was thinking that there might be some dust in the PCIE slot.The 750 is the most i want to pay for one.

I rather like my GT1030, but be sure to get the version with GDDR5 RAM; avoid the DDR4 version.

If you mean a modern-ish card, I guess an RX 6400 will be enough

I just wouldn't buy a 1030 because the RX 6400 exists, and RDNA 2 is tons better than Pascal. But price is also a consideration, and I mean, it's an E8600, and apparently one that is already slowed down on an older DDR2 motherboard.

IMO, even a GTX 750 Ti may be a good pick, after all that one should have good compatibility with Windows XP, if running older OSes and games is a consideration.

You do understand that the PCI slot will max out at 75w, and the rest will pull from PCI power cables from the PSU right? Current cards use a lot of power too. Nothing has changed.

IMO, even a GTX 750 Ti may be a good pick, after all that one should have good compatibility with Windows XP, if running older OSes and games is a consideration.

The one you mentioned RX64OO is a recent card.I have just seen this

That GPU will work great for the E8600 and will run on XP through Win11 just fine.

I'd go HD 7570 or something like that since your MB+CPU are extremely outdated and can't fuel video cards beyond that to make any difference.

GTX 660 is rather a no than a yes, Kepler GPUs don't last long. Will probably die this year.

That 7570 is just as old. Both of them are terrible purchases if you're looking for longevity of any kind (as they're 10+ years old), they're both discontinued, terrible performers, etc.

NVIDIA's legacy driver support is much better and Kepler security updates are still being regularly published

If youre interested. I might have a very old MSI 660 ti twin frozr that has seen action in multiple builds up for grabs. Still works as a backup and on an old test bench that doesnt see much daylight anymore.

Whilst this is true this will stop to matter right when the GPU itself becomes broken. That's why I recommended a less software optimal AMD solution.

With cost and power envelope in mind, a GTX 750 or 750 Ti doesn't sound like a bad option to me if you don't mind something that's not era appropriate. See if you can get another stick of RAM for that system too. That single stick is lonely.

Dude you're saying Kepler GPUs will just timely die because whatever reason. That's not how it works. They don't say "oh look it's 2023 time to off myself" because again, that's not how it works. I have a GTX560 that I stuck back in service that works perfectly fine.

All of them, pardon my French, are "old junk" by now. Don't think either will "die more" because they're a brand or another, really, that's quite anecdotal. I have a Quadro FX 5600 (which is a fancy 1.5 GB 8800 GTX) that works perfectly well, it hasn't even been opened... it's a 17 year old GPU. I need to look up what kind of thermal pads reference 8800's use, so I can replace them.

It's a good basic display that can run older/low powered games. Just know driver support is gone.

That's a Great card much faster then 660 and twin frozr is nice cooler.....I owned one of those remember was even using for my triple monitor setup back then and it was good experience......just FYI you will need some decent(450W-500W) PSU for that card .....

If your PSU is up for the task, I don't see a problem. Power draw is around 150W under load though. Just keeping your previous post in mind.

I ran various GPUs with my e8600 CPU.

I used an X1900 XT (and crossfire). 650w psu
I used an HD 3870 (and crossfire). 650w psu
I used an HD 4870 until I killed the GPU.
I used an HD 6950 modded to 6970.
I used a GTX 970.

They all paired well with the water cooled e8600 CPU running between 4.0 & 4.6GHz, so keep that in mind.

The GTX 660 Ti would be a really nice option for you. Also, the 760 or 960 would be nice too if you can find a good deal.
