What GPU would you recommend for a E8600 cpu?

If youre interested. I might have a very old MSI 660 ti twin frozr that has seen action in multiple builds up for grabs. Still works as a backup and on an old test bench that doesnt see much daylight anymore.
Depends , if it is the right price,How much are you are asking for it?

I just wouldn't buy a 1030 because the RX 6400 exists, and RDNA 2 is tons better than Pascal. But price is also a consideration, and I mean, it's an E8600, and apparently one that is already slowed down on an older DDR2 motherboard.

IMO, even a GTX 750 Ti may be a good pick, after all that one should have good compatibility with Windows XP, if running older OSes and games is a consideration.

Even with the performance loss due to PCIe 1.1 x4 (on his G31 board), the 6400 is an extremely perf/W efficient option.
I have a friend with a 6400 in a Bulldozer (IIRC) build, and he's pleased as can be.
(also has/had 750Ti and 1050Ti)

I don't have benchmarks, but I'd imagine a 'gimped' Navi24 would beat most of the low-power cards of the previous 3+ generations.

I ran various GPUs with my e8600 CPU.

I used an X1900 XT (and crossfire). 650w psu
I used an HD 3870 (and crossfire). 650w psu
I used an HD 4870 until I killed the GPU.
I used an HD 6950 modded to 6970.
I used a GTX 970.

They all paired well with the water cooled e8600 CPU running between 4.0 & 4.6GHz, so keep that in mind.

The GTX 660 Ti would be a really nice option for you. Also, the 760 or 960 would be nice too if you can find a good deal.

I had a Sapphire Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB AGP playing COD 4 MW on the Athlon XPM 2500 at 2.2GHz and 2GB PC 3200 Ram, WD 80GB 7200 RPM Drive.

If your PSU is up for the task, I don't see a problem. Power draw is around 150W under load though. Just keeping your previous post in mind.
It WILL be bottlenecked greatly, but if you can get it cheap, why not?

I used HD7770 (much weaker GPU) with E8400. It was bottlenecked 80-90% of the time, though there were GPU intensive places, where uplift vs HD4850 on the same CPU was x2. But other than that little difference.

You could also try a Radeon HD 7850 - it's a good little card, power-efficient

The GT1030 is 30W
s
I got your game today Shrek 3 for a pound i got 9 PC games altogether

Surely the 6400 would be overkill for my E8600 ,Plus the fact it is PCI4 o_O

I think he didn't like low profile, so would need to find a full height bracket.
You got it there Shrek :) Fine for a S.F.F:)

How about an AMD RX550 (50W) or RX560 (75W) card with 4Gb of GDD5? I ran both in a Dell 3020 i5-4570 16Gb RAM with a 290W supply with no issues and got decent frames in call of duty MW and PUG.

Radeon RX 500 Series GPUs / Video Graphics Cards | Newegg.com The lowest being 63 quid.
Thanks for that Lost Troll :)But i did get a Asus 560 ti direct cut last week at the local market for £5 it was left out in the rain so want try it when i know it has completely dried out:)`-Mind you the i5 4570 is a lot better than theE8600.

That is an awesome price if it works and will work quite will in the 8600 system. Yea the 4570 is better, but the last system I built before the system I have now, was an 8600 system like yours, but it was a Gigabyte ITX motherboard and AMD Radion card in a Silverstone chassis. That system is still running today buy the guy who bought it off of me in 2010.:)

Hopefully it works :)The market i got it from often has PC related bargains there the one below for instance which has a i5 750 which cost me just £3.o_OAnd the 440 card below for £2 from the same seller.Mind you i did get a 775 motherboard for £5 which i could not get to work which is where i got the E8600 and two sticks of CORSAIR Ram. So all though i could not get it to work, I got my moneys worth for the Ram and CPU.You do take a chance but at £5 it is worth taken .Sometime ago i got a old Dell Pentium PC for £4 that worked fine it also had a GPU and came with a 500 HDD and Ram.all i got today was nine PC £3 games PC games,i had to get the Shrek one just to show our friend on here :DThe 440 works fine.that was in a anti static bag. That,s cool that it is still working fine 13 years later. :)

I have just been looking at the info on the 6400 GPU.It looks a interesting card :).

What GPU would you recommend for a E8600 CPU?This is it here the GT 420 spins but does not boot up,the Geforce 7600gt does not spin and gets very hot.And when i had it on the board i was half way getting Vista installed and the board shut down.I was thinking something like thE GTX660 TI or the 750. i am not sure of what Radeon cards i could use ,i understand they need a lot of power.I was thinking that there might be some dust in the PCIE slot. The 750 is the most i want to pay for one.

LTT did a 2-video series on the "$69 Computer" back in 2018:

Their computer started out with a Core2 Duo E7500.

I'm confused, the Core 2 doesn't have pins.

A Core 2 Quad Q9550 can be found for less than $20

I have just ordered a CPU from ALI EXPRESS has anyone had any problems getting one with bent pins?

What CPU with pins did you order?...

Might want to start a new thread for that, being that this one is

"What GPU would you recommend for a E8600 cpu?"

I mean...what are you going to run on it?

XP? If so, stick with a HD 4000/GTX 200 series, or maybe a geforce 9000.

If a newer OS, then a 1050ti or 1650ti if you want to keep power down.

Maybe change the thread title if you go AMD with this.

Or you can make a new thread.

No i was having a one to one with Fücsök.It is all sorted now.I just wondered what it was like getting a AMD cpu from Ali express or anything else on there.i have bought a couple of things on there,But never a CPU.

That would be rather counterproductive IMO, the E8600 is coveted for being the highest frequency and fastest Core 2 CPU at 3.33GHz (10 x 333), it is faster than even the QX9650 and QX9770 in purely 1T workload such as games of the time. There was an E8700 that was 166 MHz faster (10.5x instead of 10x multiplier), but it was never released, some units were sampled to the industry but they are extremely rare nowadays.

The QX9650's unlocked multiplier makes it much easier to OC but you're already going to need 10% to match this CPU off the bat, and the QX9770 requires 1600 FSB support (as it's 8 x 400 MHz), so it only works on P45 and X48 motherboards. My C0 QX9650 did 3.5 GHz at 1v on my dinky Gigabyte G41 board by simply setting the multiplier to 10.5, I kinda regret selling it, I don't think I'll find another one for a reasonable price :(

How is the L2 cache shared? the E8600 has 6M, the Q9550 has 12M

This is just for fun (and to learn), not to argue.
