Hello guys so i just build a new pc with i9-13900k and msi z790 mpg carbon wifi and msi ai1300 psu thats come with atx 3.0 and 600 watt cable thats go direct from psu to gpu One cable
so the problem is my strix 4090 oc is thats power limit for it on msi afterburner is only 100% max its should be 133% max and my friend have same card which is going to 133% max

iam on Performance mode so i must get the 600w (133%) so the things i tried is :

-install new windows

-install different gpu driver
-Check the cable of the gpu on both sides the power supply and gpu

so i want to know if its bios problem or i should RMA the card ? and if anyone can let me know if this power supply and the cable thats came with it supports the 600w
i actually dont know what to do?

and please if someone have same card can u try to see what is te powerlimit ?

Have you tried it in ASUS' GPU Tweak III?
MSI Afterburner doesn't work or work fully on all cards, some require the brand's own software.

Yes i did both is the same limited 100% i even tried new windows

Do you have all the 8pin connected? If you only do 3 of the 4, it's limited to 450
i have 12vhpwr cable came with my powersupply and its advertised that 600 watt cable

The 12VHPWR cable supplied with the MEG Ai1300P PSU is capable of 600 W. Unplug it, make sure that the connector is clean and upon reinsertion, see if it is firmly secured. If a speck of dust made it into the sense pin and grounded it, it may result in a 450 W power limit.

Also noteworthy if you opt to use the supplied 4 x 8-pin to 12VHPWR adapter for testing and see if the problem is your cable or your GPU, you must ensure that all four power connectors are firmly secured, if only three are detected by the sense, the adapter will limit power draw to 450 W. I believe this PSU only has three 8-pin cable outputs, so you might need to test with another power supply.

This may also be the case with your cable, by the way - see if the sense pins on either end aren't dirty and that the connection is well established. Having another 12VHPWR cable is the only way to test if your cable is bad, though. I find it quite unlikely it will be the PSU or the GPU, but rather a connection failure due to a bad cable or improper contact.

Could you install hardware info and see what is your GPU's PPT limit

As far as I know some models of 4090 are actually locked to 100% max power target, yours might be one of them.

Correct, one of the PNY cards does not exceed 450w. I am sure there are others as well. Although the ROG strix should have a 600w bios... Can you try it in your friends PC that would tell you if either your PSU or the card is having an issue.

Have you tried the 4x8 pin to 16 pin it comes with to rule out the PSU cable?

Try the adapter cable if you can, to make sure the limit can increase.

I had the same problem with a Thermaltake GF3 12+4 cable, with the adapter my card could go to 106% but if the 12+4 cable wasn't plugged in properly I was stuck at 100%.
I checked both ends to make sure that they couldn't move in anymore and it still would show past the 100% limit.

I just bought a Cablemod kit for my PSU and now it works perfectly.

Advise what BIOS version is currently being used too.

A quick search landed a bunch of hits on the same issue (people stuck at 90-100%).
The Oct update / latest one seems to have done the trick in those cases.

Also the board's power limit is 120%, not 133% as with the FE.

so guys after i saw replies i tried a different cable 12VHPWR still the same problem but i didnt try with the adapter because i don't know where to plug the pci cables on psu there alot of them so i was scared
but i tried different 12VHPWR would that elimante the cables form being the problem ?
and about bios i tried to update to latest update on rog website v2.1
and here is some info for my card on gpuz

That's the latest BIOS too, so it isn't anything with that.
I think using the adapter with the 8-pins might be the way here then.

GPUZ still says 100% for the limit.

which is weird cuz 100% means 500 watt i think and 120% should be 600 watt and still its locked at 100% and my gpu does not go above 430 watt on tests and i cant even +80 oc on cores i know i dont need to overclock this card but i think my card is faulty or something with connection is not good which is bad too

i will try new powersupply and new card maybe iam just waiting for asus support to answer and tell me what to do :( ?

Maybe try and remove the Asus software and try with Afterburner. The 4x8 to 16 pin isn't going to damage anything give it a try as well just make sure its fully seated.

i tried both already installed msi frist then removed it and installed gpu tweak both showing the same
and if u look at cpuz is shows TDP : 450 watt i dont know why

Most likely due to 1 of the sense pins not being detected is my guess its the same if you just use 3x 8 pin on the supplied cable instead of 4x.

The adapter cable would likely rule out if its just the power supplies included 12VHPWR cable being the issues.

The readings clearly state "maximum" as being 100%, so the card is in fact locked to just 100% max power target so no amount of tinkering with it will do anything to change that. The question is if that's how this card should come out of the box, or is it because only 3 of the 4 8pin connectors are detected, you need to ask ASUS, maybe there is a another BIOS you can use.

By the way does this card have a BIOS switch ? Maybe you are simply on the wrong BIOS.

yes it does have bios switched tried both locked to 100%
this card should come out of box as P-mode can go from 100% to 120% (500 to 600)
and Q-mode 100% to 133% (450 to 600)

The card will only go to 120% max if working properly in performance mode, it's written into the BIOS.
I'd try using the 8-pin adapter, but first 2x check to make sure you didn't accidentally flip it into quiet mode.

If no dice after that I'd either reach out to ASUS or exchange the card w the store (if within the return period).

While I don't suggest flashing the BIOS, apparently Galax 600w BIOS works. Seen people selling the Strix flashed to the Galax on eBay recently.

i would not do that as the card still on replace period but they wanna make sure its the gpu not the system

could be the both bios on card is not good ? or defective card could do that ?
