Starfield discussion thread

For reference it's been playable for 647 hours, at the time of writing.
Seems reasonable, still 2/3rds of nappy time (Potentially) for Dr. Dro then :D

After debating whether I stay an ugly blob of a ship, I invested some time and made the Razer all pretty.
Its not finished, you need to paint this black and radioactive green now.

I've never made a mod for any game; I solely rely on the hard work of others. Can't remember the name of it off hand, but search for "Starborn" or "Starborn armors" and you'll no doubt find it quickly.

Edit: actually, I see the mod has been hidden for some reason. Don't know what the problem is with it, but I've had zero issues with it in-game. If you want it you can send me a PM and I'll be happy to mail it to you.

Where did you source it, Nexus?

No, it's hidden at the moment for unknown reasons. As mentioned above.

My upgraded Razorleaf 6x Vanguard Hellfire, 3x Vanguard Obliterator, 3x Sal-6830 engines, fuel capacity is low, and it need a 3rd weapon group.
(cargo is 0 because i modded it to infinite storage, ultra low graphics i know)

Starfield, The Expanse...

Bad games.

Got up close and personal with a starborn ship, had to kill 5 starborn to get these pics. Click to enlarge. And no I couldn't take the ship.

Looks great but Photo Mode

Gameplay-wise Starfield let me down, combat is pretty horrible and frustrating (but easy), however slightly better gunplay than Fallout.. Don't say much tho

Big cities seems too big and lifeless. Filled with stupid NPCs that say the same thing over and over, and sometimse vanish or walk in the air. Neon was the best one by far but feels like a poor mans Cyberpunk.

Space exploration is insanely dull, most planets have nothing really and loading screens all over

Probably needs a few years to mature, like most Bethesda RPGs

Did Starfield really live up to the hype? I don't think so. If this game was released by an unknown company, it would have gotten 5/10 at best. Modders are trying their best to save it.

I mean it's a game. That is what they do.

Not when done right. I even talked to men with female voices in several cities. Please stop trying to defend this rushed game.

I guess thats why most people just stay in the shipbuilder.

Is the sun present for AMD users yet?

I don't think so. The game isn't pretty enough for it to matter though, IMO. In something like Horizon Zero Dawn it would be a huge deal, but here I didn't even notice the absence until someone wrote about it. The planets had some haze to them so I thought it was that.

Well in a game about space, the sun is pretty crucial if you ask me, also shadows are affected by the sun rays

Starfield update 1.7.3.3 mentions:
  • AMD (PC): Resolved an issue that caused star lens flares not to appear correctly AMD GPUs.

So what you're suggesting is that if I (and others) disagree and really enjoy playing it, I should just shut up about it?

Yeah, bugger that mate.

You have to get in the ship right as they leave, no time to kill just get on top by the door and jump in. Once they leave the ship it gets locked. Can also get the mod to unlock door btw. Anyhow the ship is kind of overrated imo.

Yeah it says inaccessible... lame haha.

I still have hard time trying to disable engines to raid ships, I always end up blowing them up.
Make sure you have pea shooters in front, no auto cannons...

Yeah I saw that but decided to wait because it says this...

"Textures are clearly not perfect as of now, and there's nothing I can do about it as long as no modding tools are out."

For now I might just limit myself to NG+ level 8 and see how well I can do with the Tempus armor. In fact by the time I get to that point maybe there WILL be some modding tools, who knows.:D Of course I'm more joking about my age than being serious, as we all know there's TONS of things to fix before they worry about dev tools. I'm only playing on Normal difficulty this run though.

On a side note, I'm very pleased so far with the new 1.7.33 update. I've been able to raise res scale from 50% to 65%, and even with that I'm averaging close to 60 FPS now. That is only via testing during the indoor segments of Entangled though, so things may change when outdoors. Until I get to that revelation, at least for now I can enjoy less blurry faces and snappier movement.

I'm also enjoying the Star Eagle, which even at class A performs better and is valued higher than the class C Crimson Wight I hijacked, which moves like a slug and fires too slow. I HAVE however found that jumping to another system BEFORE you get blown up, then coming back, makes dog fights a TON easier during times you are stuck with no Ship Parts to repair with.

That said, I just completed the Entangled quest and took the time to get the best possible ending with both Realities/NPCs surviving. It netted quite a bit of credits. The problem is after adding the two artifacts I got to the Armillary on my ship, the powers menu still shows just 8 powers instead of 10. Is there some reason I am not seeing them listed there?

I was able to pirate a Spacer Racoon ship and then rebuild it to make it have mor cargo room.......

I have found that it will limit you on max engine system power or 12 bars. So, I had to cut back my cargo from 4200 to 3170 to keep an 89% moveability for now....meh

So far, I like the game with 146 hours invested, you can go from one thing to another when you get board.

-----SPOILER WARNING!!!-----

Regarding the UC questline, was anyone else upset that it ended without even getting to use the Aceles in battle against the Terramorphs?

On that note, since it also ended indicating there would be more UC missions available, does anyone know if it's possible to encounter such a thing in any of them, or are they all just simple errands by comparison?

Did the same very disappointed that I couldn't take it.
I am verry disappointed that you can only have 10 ships in your collection. I guess they never figured that people wanted to collect them.

I think its strange that we can't have super massive cargo/fuel ships, then just a detachable lander for planets, I mean hell the moon landing even had this. we have to constantly balance engines/thrusters, etc. just kind of lazy design imo.

I am playing this game right now called Juno New Origins, its a blast if you want to tinker with physics and rocket launches

As irritating as it is, I can understand why they put a limit on the ship size and weight. If they would have made it unlimited, no one would build outposts, they would do everything in their ship.

Thanks, I will have to take a look at it.
