Fake Flash drives and Sd cards

h2testw is with bigger drives completely unusable, waiting times of sometimes one or two days. You must have a lot of patience testing scam drives. It's faster if you for example copy a big game on it, or other files and then try to read it back. You know the result in some minute, instead of hours or days for h2test! It's really good to test smaller capacity drives or memory cards.

Most games are now very big and copy the files to a scam drive doesn't end good.:) I can't afford the very big waiting time here, but do the test with big game files gives you the result in minutes.
Thats what i find out it took well over four hours to get less than a quaeter of the way.It was fine for a 32gb drive i have not tried it on a 64gb one.You say that i hace done it in 64gb SD cards.I will stick to 64gb flash drives :) .It is worth noting what you say about about testing with files on bigger drives.:)

Yes when it's sold and and shipped by Amazon itself, you're good to go, i never had problems with it.

I have a legit samsung drive plugged in to back of my PS5, it is fast, not sure of exact speed, but remember being impressed, I cant remember now why I purchased it just for the PS5, and if I still need it inserted for some reason, as the drive is too good to just have it set aside.

For me the solid case of the Bar Plus is important as the board no longer takes any bending stress.

Some game files are over 20GB of size, and while you copy it over you also can see with what speed it goes, and how big the cache it uses. Scam drives will write terrible slow with hours for writing your game files. Then you already know what it's worth...

Call of duty is about 235GB installed... Poor Scam drive....

Just a note here, slow doesn't equal fake.
It could just be old cards, like this one.

This was something bought in bulk for a company I worked for, but more modern.

But spending a lot more doesn't always get you something amazing.

If your external USB drive writes at around 20MB/s you know it's scam, because these are SD card speed's. So you have a USB external drive filled inside with just an Mini SD card.

There's certainly a lot of fakes out there. I've even conversed with a guy on facebook that said he uses sd cards instead of ssds because they are cheaper. Then he mentions some obviously fake capacity and price, I forget exactly what it was. Something like you know, 8TB, only $30 or something like that.

This is one of them i can,t believe people are buying these. o_O
.

Just done the test on SanDisk Extreme CF 64gb ,I think that is a good score on USB 3 not tried it on USB2 which is where i will be using it on my next PC build Athlon 2800.723 HDD test

Aa long as it's sold/shipped by Amazon (preferably with Prime) you should be fine. Just avoid used or open box listings
Thats interesting. :) Whats wrong with buying open box, even if it is sold by Prime?o_O

you have to be a mug to buy them.
Yep, that's me. Price wasn't that much cheaper, high ratings and 17k+ of sales so ordered 4. Later looking at some bad reviews showed I wasn't the only one. Wasn't Ebay or Amazon.

Samsung Bar plus 128GB
I have just done a speed test crystal Disk mark on Samsung Bar plus and shocked at the terribly results I bought them from eBay see the scores below. They have to be fake with scores like that They were in the packaging that looks like the real thing. The price was a giveaway at less than ÂŁ20 for two 128gb i should have sussed that out with them being so cheap..I see one of them on amazon costs over ÂŁ25.Have any of you been caught out buying getting fake flash drives or SD cards? The two Samsung bar plus 128gb705 704.709 a 32gb Samsung bar plus .a lot better score than the other two ,but fails to give scores for the last two write speed why?o_O 713 32gb Sandisk which does all the test.:)Perhaps i should stick with Sandisk they seem to have more on there Sandisk 29.2 gb the 32gb Samsung 26,5.The two Bar plus 128gb 117gb.707 Packaging.

Just out of curiosity, did you run the Samsung UFD Authentication Utility in this flash drive?

They still sell 64TB external drives on ALI for about 30 dollar... :kookoo: Or even an 980 EVO with does not exist. And a fake 990 pro.

Yeah quick way to tell, is using tools that check if they fake, they have quick ways of testing of the capacity can map the full logical range of blocks.

rmprepusb can do it e.g. but there is others also.

AmazonBasics is a pretty well ... basic brand. They will have the real capacity, but performance may vary as they swap suppliers etc to keep the costs down.

This is a good to see guys, he even tested a so called Samsung 980EVO with does not exist and an fake 990 PRO. Also tested a fake 128TB external usb SSD.:kookoo:

Oh god, these damn things cause us so much headache. I have had someone loose terabytes worth of pictures... The samsung one was a good fake. But actual fake SSDs and flash drives? Fuck me. I HATE THEM!!!!!! Poor recovery results and they fail in horrible ways. I want to kick whoever in the you know where to doing it and fooling people. My job is already hard enough. :( Newer drives are already complicated. Throwing in fakes is just insulting.

The most shocking fact is that people still want to buy Fake SSD like this on Ali or Ebay. As long there is a demand for this kind of scam, the longer this will continue.

You can see it here on TPU forum's, how many people are willing to order from Ali for memory or Ebay. Even Amazon still sells FAKE USB sticks from 1, 2, 4TB for some dollar's, and many positive reviews of 5 Star's. Because they only tested it with some picture on it...

Anyone tried any of the many generic SSDs on ebay?

Well I'd choose Silicon Power, Emtec, Gigastone or Fikwot over something that is trying to look like WD Green from afar. Or Blue, or Red - I see all carry the same amusing price tag, you basically get to choose the colour.

Fikwot is the cheapest that claims to be TLC with a TBW of 300-400 write cycles and I'd actually believe that, there's enough lowest-bin TLC NAND manufactured every day, I guess. Still four times as expensive as that "Green".

The cheapest i had here was Silicon Power A55, not bad, not super. It just does what it should do. Just use some common sense is enough, a 1TB SSD for 15 dollar.... you know enough.

But about longevity of those drives i have no idea. No one test drives like that. So i choose for known brands, i don't take the risk that customers all come back.
And a SSD without brand on it, i dunno. I'm shy from that...

One thing i know for sure is that those cheapest ones don't use always new part's, they sometimes re-use older part's that is enough for a very cheap SSD. Like used NAND but still okay, or NAND with some defect's, they don't put that away in trash...

Haha, but Tom's just reported that someone bought a non-Samsung 4TB 990 PRO for $39, knowing it was a joke. Some benchmarking was enough to kill it but while alive, it passed the GRC Validrive capacity test!
