Hello everyone, this is my first post.

I’m looking to buy a new gaming monitor, 1440p, 144/165hz, IPS ( preferably) or VA, and i want to make sure it’s good. Other things that are important for me are low latency and good colors.

I checked the LG LG 27GR75Q UltraGear Gaming Monitor 27" QHD IPS HDR 10, 2560x1440, 1ms, G-Sync Compatible, AMD FreeSync Premium 165Hz, HDMI 2.0 (HDCP 2.2), Display Port 1.4, AUX, Flicker Safe, Nero : Amazon.it: Informatica

and the MSI MSI G272QPF Monitor Gaming 27" WQHD 2K Rapid IPS (2560x1440), 170 Hz / 1ms GTG, G-Sync Compatibile, Night Vision, Stand regolabile - DP 1.2a, HDMI 2.0b, VESA 100x100 : Amazon.it: Informatica

I was about to buy the LG then I saw this thread on Reddit.
Thoughts on the new LG 27GR75Q UltraGear? : Monitors (reddit.com)

Some people there say that the colors aren’t that great… and the panel in general and the backlight strobing could be better.
Also I couldn’t find detailed/professional reviews for the LG, there are reviews for similar models but not this one.

About the MSI I found a review on Tom’s Hardware which praises it for pretty much everything, this one: MSI G272QPF 170 Hz Gaming Monitor Review: Pro-Level Performance for Not a Lot of Cash | Tom's Hardware (tomshardware.com) It seems like a really good choice.

Also, the LG has display port 1.4 and the MSI one has display port 1.2a, does that make any difference?

The prices are almost the same, what do you guys think?
Do you have any other alternatives/suggestions for a monitor of this kind? I’m in EU so some brands aren’t available here on Amazon by the way.

Nvidia MSI 2070 Super Gaming X Trio

You want at least G-Sync compatible, or just G-Sync if you stay with team green...

They are both G-Sync compatible.

I recently got a VERY good deal on the Dell G3223Q 32 inch monitor. 4k@144 Hz refresh rate. It comes with FreeSync Premium Pro and no G-Sync support.
Compared to my previous monitor (Acer XH270HU) the colors on the Dell are simply jaw dropping in comparison.

Here is some reading about DP.

Seems good but too expensive for me and no G-sync support :(

I’m pretty happy with my Asus TUF Gaming VG34, it is an ultrawide 1440p165 with HDR. My only regret is not going bigger, but there aren’t many choices below the $$$ 40”+ ultrawide.

If I were in the market for a 1440p panel I'd go for this 27 "HP Omen 240 Hz.

It has everything you listed out, just a higher refresh rate (if you can't push 240 now, set it to 165).
No HDMI 2.1 but matters more for consoles, if you're just using it for PC the 1.4 display port is fine.

EDIT:

Just noticed you're in EU w the links...
My suggestion is unfortunately not on sale right now on your Amazon, it's €406.50 :(

All FreeSync monitor's VRR work with Nvidia cards now, doesn't have to be explicitly listed as G-Sync compatible. It's as simple as going into the driver and ticking a checkbox.

I'm looking at the ASUS tuf line too, but i'm not going for ultrawide, there isn't much space on my desk and games could get too demanding at that resolution.

I think that this MSI monitor should be the best choice, i'd like some opinions on this one please.

After reading the Specs this monitor seems to have been made to work with Nvidia GPUs (DP 1.2a) but don't pay too much. The Gigabyte 32QC is a 1440P monitor that I owned that has some of the best black levels I have seen. It is VA and has enough of a curve to not appreciate the size until it's on and it's not too expensive. If you access to TUF monitors there is a 27" 1440P that is pretty good

This is in Canadian dollars but $339 ($245 US) is not bad for those specs.

GR75Q is pretty much standard gamut display, meanwhile MSI's is a wide gamut display (with higher contrast according to Tom's review, 800:1 vs 1100:1). Between the two I would go for MSI since LG has lower contrast and probably has worse backlight bleed. Make sure you have good return policy as usual.

Asus' TUF series will have the best implementation of backlight strobing (if you want strobing than most of the time you have to pick between Asus, BenQ with their DyAc or ViewSonic) but if you're sensitive to it you might end up having headaches. The one mentioned above has max brightness of 250 nitts, which will take a massive hit with ELMB enabled. Also, strobing looks the best if you can maintain high framerate so unless you're playing esports titles with 200 fps+ at 1440p I wouldn't bother myself with it.

change region at the bottom for local availability.
look for reviews for the model you like as some models has backlight bleed that you may dislike.
pay attention to model number as some reviews are listed with model series number rather than Odyssey trade mark

I had a dell s2721dgfa which was a very nice monitor. 1440, ips, 165hz Gsync/freesync pro.

My two very different friends (their preferences really vary) are both happy with the LG 27GN800. It has both Freesync and G-Sync, it's fast, it's got good colours. The price is 200 Euro so you can afford it.

Thanks, colors and negligible backlight bleed are important for me.

I have an ASUS tuf 1080p 280hz and i used the strobing a bit ( on Halo MCC, light games) but i haven't noticed much difference, probably because 280fps is already smooth enough. Maybe at lower Hz it can be more useful...
