What's your latest tech purchase?

i protect my Ally (literally... )
the official carry case is too small? too expensive?

solved (and i added a silicone back and edge cover ... just need a screen protector later, even if the Ally has a Gorilla Glass Victus ):

the 2 together for half the maximum price of the official carry case (Swiss pricing around 31 to 42chf ) edit: ah, i just noticed that i aligned almost perfectly her eye and the left opening on the cover (i swear it was not on purpose ... )

and because the first game i ran to test the Ally was CP2077 and i quite liked Edgerunners
maxresdefault.jpg

"check that one chooms!" (will need a bit of ironing and bubbles removing but it's repositionable ;) )
20231120_131822.jpg20231120_131840.jpg

it even has part that are ... "running quite nicely along the edges"
20231120_131829.jpg20231120_131835.jpg

yep, transparent case was the right call :D eveything goes perfectly well together
20231120_131927.jpg20231120_132003.jpg20231120_132007.jpg

received the RAM, now just CPU and GPU and "let's crank it to ELEVEN!" given the fact that i will still be using a 32" 2880x1620p ... oh boy, oh joy, the anticipation is killing me! (and got a little extra for my Yamaha type A display )
20231120_132021.jpg20231120_132607.jpg

and yes, she's still trying to eat (or lick ... i think ) my stuff ...

eh...?
20231120_151433.jpg
why not ... KOF XIV + DLC 1 and 2 with discount Rebel Galaxy 2 for 4.50chf and CP2077 Phantom Liberty (full price, but i paid almost nothing for CP2077 so, still a bargain) all for 53.66chf instead of 105.33chf?
(well RG2 and KOF XIV should play quite well on the Ally, and CP2077 well, it runs smooth with the right settings ... but it will be more interesting on the main rig :D tooooomorrrroooowwww of course. )

Be aware that not all Corsair SSDs use the same NAND, so check what you get, as the lower layer count NAND used in some drives result in slower drives.

Replacing CPU block today, with the Heatkiller IV Pro Nickel/Black and Heavy Backplate. I also ordered a copper cold plate, O-ring kit for future testing, I want to test nickel vs copper cold plate on 14 KF chip.

The Watercool shipping from Germany to Colorado US, with DHL Express shipping was only three days, then USPS two days from Denver to my house. Five days total, very nice. :)

The 1700 Heavy backplate is impressive, looks like it will work nicely with the Thermalright 1700 contact frame.

I'm off work today, so I plan on installing the new Heatkiller block this afternoon.

I'm replacing three year old Optimus SV2 block I bought for Z590 system and also used on Z690, and now using on Z790. I haven't opened the Optimus SV2 block, but I'm sure the microfin cold plate is corroded and needs cleaning after three years of usage. The Heatkiller block should have much higher flow rate, and with new microfin cold plate,.. hoping for noticeable temp improvement under heavy loads with 14 KF chip.

Dual purchases - new RAM and router:

My new build is proving to be the gift that keeps on taking at this point.
First I had to purchase new RAM because the old one refused to work reliably in there no matter what I did, and after I installed Windows 11 it refused to connect to the 5GHz band on my router because it used a security protocol that was being "phased out".

Spent a pretty penny on both of these - hopefully I'll be set for the next 5 years.

If God doesn't exist, why does the hand of man wrap so perfectly around the throat of a goose?

Got this Denon DRA-800H for £50. honestly the secondhand shop need someone testing that knows what they are doing.

Indeed
Thanks

I'm hoping due to the (high historical) price of the 4TB drives that I will be getting one that was sitting on the shelf for over a year and has not been subject to the bait n switch
edit
but I will report back if any differences

It has arrived!

Considering the small issue I had with my sig rig I'll install it on my B650E just to see if it works. I'll also keep the cpu on air until all wc components arrive.

also ... when you order a ... well that:
20231121_143708.jpg
neat little support metal and rubber ... at 2.50chf (the same kind from Jonsbo bought locally would be 19.50chf  )

and then you proceed to notice that the new GPU you got is ... way more premium than the previous one and the manufacturer added one in the package ... (also metal and rubber construction )

next thing will be an "IT Duster" ... (i still cleaned the dust before pluging the rig back on )

Oral B all the way. I have been using them for almost 15 years. It is hard to use a regular toothbrush now.

I never had a cavity in my entire life and I credit two things for that, getting a cleaning once a year at the Dentist and using a high powered toothbrush (you have to spend at least 30-40 bucks to get one high powered, its not like the cheap powered ones you can get for 8 bucks at walmart)

I know you probably know this, just explaining for those who have no idea what we talking about. lol

edit: also probably the fact i don't drink alcohol or eat candy has helped me never get a cavity. lol

Some black Friday stuff. My first mechanical keyboard....€12...red switches, I think that's my best deal ever. Almost feels like I was across the ocean :D
New Mobo, moving away from 7th gen to 10th gen....six cores (i5) and rebar. Can't really muster the budget up to go E-core/P-core with 12th gen and on.

Just pulled the trigger on a new 2tb nvme SSD.

Mushkin Enhanced Helix-L M.2 2280 2TB PCIe Gen3

$60USD shipped. (newegg)

Much cheaper than the "deals" that Tom's Hardware is peddling.
