A friend of mine bought a GTX 1060 on a carboot sale (aka. flea market) for some change. He cleaned it extensively, which wasn't easy, but unfortunately, it's not working (I wonder why).

Thorough cleaning is done. One of the small resistors on the back of the GPU is loose, that's the most likely culprit.

Fine point tip. I've done it many times. Look up " Bit und Bolts " on YT. He does precision SMD soldering frequently. Good channel if you want to learn about detailed troubleshooting and repair.

Yup, that's some standard next-level nasty. Luckily it doesn't look like smokers hell kind of thing and as such should have been an easy clean up.

I've had the same happen to my current monitor when it was still fairly new, took me a good while to realize whats going on. :laugh:

'there are some small cut holes at the bottom of my monitor for air and I assume thats where it got in'
Its still inside my monitor dead somewhere since I couldn't be arsed to try to take apart my monitor just for that since it wasn't visible after it died. 'it was a small fruit fly I think'

This machine came in this morning with the customer saying that it might need a clean and it's not booting Windows any more.
In fact, I built it for him five years ago and at the time, I was very pleased with the result. Not so much now, but again, it will have to stripped down outside, even though it's not the worst I've seen.

I normally go at these with a vengeance, but today I really didn't feel like a total strip down on a full tower.

don't know why I was worried about the dust accumulation on my (open case) system, it's nothing anywhere close compared to this.
But it is visible, so that will trigger to clean earlier than something hidden in a closed case, I presume.

Tomorrow is a new day, maybe you'll get an isolated case of cleaning rage and at the end of the day it looks like new :roll:

It's an NZXT Phantom full tower which can swallow up loads of HDDs and I used to own it myself. I prefer my CM Storm Trooper though.

I have the older NZXT Phantom 530 black case bought it since new only ever seen a thin layer of dust but kept it clean as much as I can. I love the look of it.
Found a old picture of a pc belong to a friend god knows what was collected over the years it like grew a bush ha it was thick as 10cm of whatever it made of
