Sup all,

been using dual monitor setup at home for over a decade probably.....no I am not in IT field, just home stuff. I have been reading lately that dual monitor+ destroys focus,

concentration, but every time I remove the second monitor I feel crippled as fluff...I mean...I really miss it. So how are you ridin?? One? two? three? forex trader? :D

*32:9, 49-inch monitors are counted as physically one
*any other display: laptop, sensor panel, PC case with display, are counted as a separate monitor

I'm a single monitor user, always have been & probably will continue too. The myth of multitasking is just that - a myth. It only appears to the observer that the individual is clever & multitasking, but in effect the human brain only process one task at a time.

As a one monitor user: More than once I've found myself in a situation where I would benefit from having 2 monitors, and they're often daily.
I do actually need it, either that or I need to focus on the game and stop alt tabbing.

I mean, I kind of already do. I have two monitors but I don't use them in unison.
My main is a 2016 era Nixeus VUE-24 flat panel for 1080p144.
My old is a 2000 era Gateway VX720 Flat-CRT for 1600x1200 at ~60Hz.
Had to switch back to the Gateway and pull my RX 580 for a HD6570 when I RMA'd the Nixeus.
I just don't like downtime, period.

I have two, as i quite often watch youtube or vides while browsing, and it is easier with two monitors.

2 or 3. I can't survive with 1.

i have two, had that for 6 years i think. second monitor in portrait mode, perfect for small spaces and speakers on the sides.
it is great for organization and monitoring stuff. and my main monitor do not need a fps counter and can be kept clean.
and my main is oled so the second ips is offloading the pixels.

Triple monitor at home here:
When playing game: 1 for main game, one for sub game (browser game stuff) or game guides when ship got serious, one for twitter + podcast style youtube
When not playing game: The main monitor for actual youtube video, a bit more space for twitter

Have plans to swap my 2 1080p monitors for 1 high-refresh rate 27" 4K OLED when they are out (likely 2025). 32" is no go, my desk is going to be too crowded and I didn't care / know I have to wait that long for 27" 4K HRR OLED products.

On my workplace I can benefit a lot from having 2 monitors, but I can deal with one.
At home, one is just not enough.

I don't care what the internet says about focus, I'm not going back to doing research on 1 crummy 27" monitor man lol

Single monitor? 42" minimum for me

One ultrawide enough screen estate for me

Just one 27 inch 1440p for gaming on my desktop rig.

Back when I hardcore played WoW (raid leader and all) I had two monitors and I really, really wanted them both. So many options with it; put the raid roster on it, plus a teamspeak or ventrilo server, or a browser window with info, etc.

Ever since I went to UW 21:9 I don't think I'll ever go back to two separate monitors. I have a work laptop and main monitor side by side here now and I just watch the main monitor. The only reason I use the laptop screen is when I need to have another document to get info from, a rather similar use case to the above one with WoW. Basically, one screen to read and another to work on, yeah that works. You'll never work on two at the same time. At least I never did.

On the UW I just snap windows to left and right halves of the screen, its fantastic, no bezel in between.

Interesting. I have a pretty basic 21:9 @2560x1080 and I am lacking on the vertical axis. It didn't made me quit a second display. 32:9 in the caliber of Samsung G9 Neo for example is waaaayyy above my budget. Like for real, I can get two pretty decent 4K @ 27-28" and I still wouldn't come close to how much 32:9 costs.

main things on main, 2nd for monitoring software or video playing when doing hamburger research

main 1920x1080 @240
2nd 2048x1152 @60

Sometimes I played with a 3rd but too much bother

I have tons of monitors and crt in my room about edit 11

Nope. 2x 4K monitors in front of me, and 2x 1080p on my 2nd PC.

i had a single monitor all the way until ~2018.
when my 7900XTX died i had to go back to a single Monitor for a couple days and it was awful. i can't imagine using a single display ever again.

Single ultrawide, don't have enough desk space to rock two. And yeah, I got two of my last displays all packaged in the basement. If I had enough desk space I'd probably use at least one of them (27" FHD 144 Hz).

Always been a single monitor user and I don't really have a real use for a second one so its most likely staying this way + I don't like to switch my focus that much. 'not exactly a multitasker either'
21:9 2560x1080 is plenty enough space for me and if I REALLY have to do something else while gaming then I just tab out 'Borderless Fullscreen' like when I'm checking a guide for my build in ARPGs/Looter shooters/whatever else game I'm playing a bit more seriously and thats it.

There are some professional uses that benefit from a multi-display setup, but those aren't mine. A single screen fits my needs perfectly.

21:9 for gaming, 2x1080p at work.
I would go for 32:9 for both and probably my next monitor (someday) will be 32:9.

If you say you prefer single monitor then put your phone in front of you to watch things while on PC then your opinion is invalid

Yeah I can't live without second monitor. Good for work (searching, seeing more tabs at the same time etc. ), good for casual slow paced gaming (I usually put something to watch alongside), good for gaming with friends online (can put their screenshare on second screen)...
There isn't really a disadvantage of having second screen. You don't need your second monitor to be 4k 240hz 32" to do any of those either. If you don't have room, smaller screens are there for you. And they aren't really that expensive, you can even get a used one.

At home I only use my 27inch ips montor no issue at all, on my laptop the built-in 14inch but at work I use 2x27inch because one ain't enough.

Thats the thing, all of that stuff you mentioned is something that I don't do/have a need for so what exactly would I do with a second monitor other than having it take up space on my desk? 'I don't work on my PC and when I game then I focus on my game and not watch some series/stream on the side and I don't play multiplayer games with friends anymore'

Second/third monitor has its use cases but its not a general default need for everyone.:)

Just one 32" 2K LG GN600 for me, but I do have a 4k60 42" Toshiba TV for a 2nd monitor when I can be bothered to move it.
