ASUS GeForce RTX 5090 TUF

Damn... I too have this card but the OC variant. Purchased it at MSRP and it is the only card available when I was on the market. It sucks that Asus used cheaper vrm than the Astral model. Still a great card for me. Temperatures are great in my system. Never passed 63° in my case.

I guess Moor Law is dead. Transistors cannot be shrunk any more past the 4nm mark. Nvidia had to resort to DLSS upscaling gimmick while still wanting to charge 3X more price for their AI marketing.
DLSS is not gimmick, ppls who say that never was testing it or they are just loyal AMD fans and want to just hate Nvidia

"NVIDIA is introducing a "Transformer" upscaling model for DLSS, which is a major improvement over the previous "CNN" model. I tested Transformer and I'm in love. The image quality is so good, "Quality" looks like native, sometimes better. There is no more flickering or low-res smeared out textures on the horizon. Thin wires are crystal clear, even at sub-4K resolution! You really have to see it for yourself to appreciate it, it's almost like magic"

Can you imagine that, $4000 to play Stalker 2 at 85fps in 4K. What is it? Bad game engine? Stagnation of hardware performance? Both probably..
Both, plus a lack of optimization. Stalker 1 took years before it was fully stable.

It is though. It's ran over spec and implemented in a very unsafe way. They used a safer implementation with the 3090 but have made it worse with each successive generation.
The 16 pin connector is rated for 600 watt in spec. At the 625w max rated draw, that is 8.68 amps per pin. The connector uses 9.5 amp pins. The original design had issues that were corrected with the v2 connector.

When used in spec, there is no danger. The problem is not the spec. The problem is nVidia's cards, drawing all the power with no hardware to ensure the power draw is balanced between pins. Drawing 23+ amps is 3x over the rated limit. If you drew 3x over the rated limit on the old 6/8 pin design, you would have issues too. If the 4090 had 3x 8 pins and drew all 600w from one 8 pin connector, it would melt.

What needs to happen is nvidia recall the old faulty card design and replace them with cards that have balancing hardware on board.

As an Nvidia user myself, I can verify that the "magic" of DLSS is really just heavy TAA + sharpening fitlers

I expect dp 2.1a on a graphic card in 2025

The cooler fan shroud is not to my liking. I had too many issues with notebooks with similar screw structures.

Thanks for the teardowns.
Every RTX 5000 series card does have dp 2.1b.

I have this card. The oc version. I boosted to 2805 and added +1020 on memory. Hit 3215 playing stalker 2. Never went above 420 watts. Card is an absolute beast.

Two months after, how are you satisfied with your TUF 5090?

Its now at FE MSRP prices, so I wonder if there is a reason for it to be that cheaper than the rest 5090?

I purchased one a few days ago, and it works perfectly fine. Temps are OK (~67C @ 100% load for me). However, my unit has a horrible coil whine. And apparently, according to Reddit and other forums, not all of them, but a good chunk of TUFs and Astrals have the same problem. So, yeah, beware.

Well, I got it two weeks ago . It was below MSRP ( 1962).
Working with it feels so smooth.
Yesterday, I finally had a time to actually try to play some game, and since I got that Doom key code, I tried that. It was running at 105fps at 4K in whatever was default setting, I only turned off dynamic scaling.

The max clock was around 2890Mhz and temp when playing was 75C. Quiet enough for me.
Feels like a great purchase.
