Hello, I’m having an issue and I’d like to see if you can help me. I have a problem with my Gigabyte RX 6800 XT Gaming OC and I would like to test the BIOS version 020.001.000.071.000000. I found this BIOS for my card, but the memory chips in this BIOS version are Micron, while my card has Samsung memory chips, so the BIOS doesn’t work. Then, I searched for similar BIOS versions for my card and found the ASRock Taichi BIOS. However, when I try to flash it, the tool won’t let me install it because it detects a different board name, even when forcing. Can you help me with this issue? Do you know someone who could modify the BIOS to be compatible with the Samsung memory on my card? The real issue is that my screen goes black when playing DX12 games, and I believe this is BIOS-related, since several users reported solving it after flashing the 071 BIOS.

This might be interesting to force a flash with a different board name (Try at own risk):

Get a spi flasher for these cards, especially when crossflashing from 1 brand to another, as not all pcb pns are the same, and GA bios are very weird compared to sapphire, asrock etc.

Hey, I managed to fix my Gigabyte RX 6800 XT! The screen would go black in DX12 games, lasting at most 5 minutes. To solve this, I crossflashed it with the ASUS 071 BIOS, and the issue disappeared—no more black screens! The card is now running 100% fine and even operates at lower temperatures.

The only extra change I made was limiting the clock to 2250 MHz to reduce stress on the card. Other than that, everything is working perfectly.

I believe this topic will help many people facing the same issue, as I searched through forums, videos, and other sources but found no real solutions besides RMA. In fact, there are many reports of defects with the RX 6800 XT Gaming OC here in Brazil.

Once again, thanks for the help!

You might consider looking though the database for a GA specific bios though

The BIOS for the 6800 XT Gaming OC did not have only version 071 released. Version 071 was only released for the 6800 XT Gaming OC Pro. I tested it, but the issue persisted. So, I tried drivers from other manufacturers, and the only one that worked for me was the 6800 XT TUF 071, which did not cause a black screen or restart the machine. The driver is running smoothly.

Hello, I have the same Gigibyte graphics card and i'm having blackscreen problems too. I'm too dumb to understand that guide to cross flash my gpu with the 071 bios can you help my out?

If you don't have much knowledge about the subject, I recommend taking it to a service center so they can follow the tutorial for you, because if done incorrectly, it could damage your graphics card.
Because the topic they sent explains everything clearly for those who have some knowledge about BIOS flashing.

Can you tell me if your motherboard memory is Samsung? If so, can you tell me which TUF BIOS 071 you used?

Hey just saw this I fixed my GPU by cross flashing it and its been work perfect for more than a month now. I found a video from a reddit post on how to cross flash without having to use windows. I used a usb with ubuntu on it and booted from the usb and on there you are able to flash your gpu bios. Heres the video link
and heres the reddit post there was a comment by a guy who did the fix on his 6800xt and shared the bios they used heres that link too https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/248421/248421.

Você pode me dizer se a memória da sua placa-mãe é Samsung? Se sim, pode me dizer qual TUF BIOS 071 você usou?
My RAM is Samsung, and I used the 071 BIOS from the ASUS TUF model. However, it disables one of the HDMI ports on my RX 6800 XT, probably because this TUF model only includes 1 HDMI and 3 DisplayPort outputs. Just a heads-up in case you're using a similar setup.

Kenvolio and Hanssteiner, thank you very much. I will try today. One less HDMI is better than don't have a graphic card hahahahaha.

Yes, the card worked. Before, I played Escape Simulator for 3 minutes and the card showed a black screen. Now I played 5 maps and nothing happened. The second HDMI port works, but with very low resolution hahaha. Thank you very much guys!
