The be quiet! Pure Rock Pro 3 Black impresses with its ability to rival the performance of the high-end Dark Rock Elite, all while offering a more compact, budget-friendly design without compromising on aesthetics or noise levels.

It's refreshing to see a major brand like BeQuiet! actually offer competitive pricing for a change. Saw this from the thumbnail and immediately assumed BeQuiet would be charging $100 for this, and that it would be underwhelming because of the price.

$55 is definitely a pleasant surprise, value isn't something BeQuiet have been particularly good at in the recent past. The offset mountings for AM5 are a nice touch and I wish more companies would consider this by default, it's not expensive to implement at all!

These cooler reviews are always not so clear, mixing together liquid and air solutions with poor readability.
Watching the histograms becomes really fast an annoying reading of "360" (ALWAYS on top of the ranking).
I mean, what's the point in highlighting every time that a 360 liquid cooler is better than an air cooled one?

Pretty impressive fan noise vs rpm.

Artic has 6 years warranty on their AIO CPU coolers. 3 years means we do not trust our fans and our quality.

Noctua has 6 years warranty for their tower cooler. A similar product

Topped off with Noctua’s trusted 6-year manufacturer’s warranty, it’s the new number one choice for customers who demand the best of the best in air cooling.

Anyway that cpu cooler is much louder as my graphic card and top of the end quality graphic cards. A cpu cooler should be more quiet as the rest of the components, especially system fans and graphic card / fans.

Be Quiet! continues their practice of having nice looking coolers but not competing on value. You buy them for looks, not because they perform well.

I wouldn't call the NH-D15 G2 a "similar" product considering it's three times the price of the pure rock pro 3.

Also, I don't think you can compare it to GPU fans, I mean who is gonna run their CPU cooler at 100%? You'd dial in a fan curve to hit temp targets etc.
Not to mention your "similar" not similar product that's 3 times the price is a decibel louder at full tilt.

Thanks for the review!

sleek looking alternative for the aesthetically inclined (me) at what seems to be a reasonable asking price.

I was looking to go all out on a BQ gaming build using my current BQ 601 gaming case. Coolers were pricey and the multiple fans were pricier - so ditched that! Went with a discounted arctic AIO and very reasonably priced Arctic P12+14s for the case fans. Nice to see BQ is finally being kinder on the wallet.

BTW (off-topic) - the more I look at these air cooler reviews, the more the "£30" A620 PRO SE grabs my attention. I mean..... I've tanned and danced with the naked Noctua, murdered the peerless assassin and not long ago trapped and silenced the phantom spirit. But, for ONLY "£30", i reckon the A620 might just deserve a seat at that table!

I'm wondering if this cooler is better than my Dark Rock 4. Same number of heatpipes, just divided into 2 towers instead of a large, chunky single one.

I was going to say, that five years ago, BeQuite would have been charging $90+ for this exact same cooler....I honestly feel like this is a direct result of the "peerless assassin" effect......Basically, the peerless assassin makes any $60+ cooler instantly pointless, IMHO

what are your idle and gaming temps

60-65 while gaming and idle is like 38-45'c as I think its measured off the X3D Cache?

Havent had access to my desktop in around 2 months. i'll be able to give you a better reading in a few days.

SHADOW ROCK 2 PRICE, I remember, got 2 builds with them.
Wonder how the PR3P vs SR2 will stand.:)

exactly. Thermalright & Scythe is VALUE ftw, lol
And Thermalright does look well too.;)

Fans alone are $30 on this.

I'm running the same fans on my Phantom Spirit 120 SE, can confirm that the noise profile is very smooth.

i compared bequiet pure wings vs shadow wings, shadow are day and night better&they have rubber sleeves for mounting vs full plastic on pure.;)
they have also "highest tier" nr. 3 fans model, but IDC.

Based on street pricing the fans are €20 and the cooler itself is €50. You're making it sound like the fans are >50% of the cost, but that's not the case here at least.

I've tested:
- stock,
- 2x XPG Vento Pro's (basically PWM Gentle Typhoons)
- 2x Pure Wings 3 HS.
Vento's performed the worst (plus noise profile was really annoying for me, I guess some people can tolerate that), stock has so-so QC and noise profile (couldn't find a sweet spot where they would be simply inaudible but still at highish rpm), PW3 share similar motor size to stock and wing profile but have better noise performance and go to 2070 rpm at full speed. Slapping Silent Wings 4 would make no sense as at that point your fans exceed the price of the entire cooler (around €60) and if Vento's are any indicator (with fairly big motor size) performance might not improve or may even regress in comparison to PW3s.

I want to run higher rpm or max rpm on my air tower cooler. They are all too loud wiht previous Ryzen 5800X and the current 7600X.
I have a noctua nh-d15 second hand cooler dissassembled from my mainboard and stored away.
I currently use a very loud be quiet dark rock pro 5.
My current and previous cpu coolers are unacceptable according to uefi menu fan curve at around 65% of fan curve in pwm mode. I can not use the remaining important 35% of the fans.

they are all not to my liking.

Price is not a metric or a quality characteristics.
I compare air tower cooler type a with air tower cooler type b.
Big metall plate with fans and fan mounts. The are similar products.

When I see how my powercolor radeon 7800xt hellhound is so much quieter with up to 250 / 300 Watts you may understand my criticism. High wattage device but with much lower noise. See techpowerup / igorslab for that graphic card. Or any other better graphic cards. I think many of those newer radeon 9070 or 9070Xt are similar quiet.

…you realize that you can’t compare the results of noise testing between CPU coolers and GPU coolers on TPU, right? Both W1zz and crazyeyesreaper have laid out their methodology and it’s vastly different. Even measurement distance, as the most basic, is 50 cm for GPU and 15 for CPU coolers. There is a reason why W1zz calls 30db and below coolers “quiet” or “whisper quiet” and for crazyeyes it’s usually closer to 35-40. The numbers are absolutely NOT comparable and never were claimed to be. In practice, in a closed decently ventilated case there will be very little difference between a top tier CPU cooler and a good AIB GPU in terms of noise (both will be either near or totally inaudible when taking case fans into account).

Does not supports all old sockets.

…it supports everything that can be reasonably expected from a cooler that released in 2024-25. What, should there be an LGA775 mounting bracket included too? I suppose there isn’t support for HEDT sockets, but that’s a very niche thing to expect from a mainstream cooler.
