The TPU UK Clubhouse

I always thought of building my coffin out of 1/8" thick 316L stainless plate with the hope I could halt a development 1000 years down the road lol
That def might work if you used an empted out World War 2 bomb shell, they are still being found on building sites over here.

having my first ocular migraine for quite a while, got a nice big flashing zig zag in my vision and really quite wooly head.

Not if you use the right type. I'm not talking about normal carpet. It's carpet designed for use in bathrooms and other areas where water is or can be present. They're tiles with carpet on top a rubberized plastic bottom that is glued to the floor. Very easy to keep clean and never gets moldy.
Ah I see. I've never seen one of those, to be fair.

You likely have and just didn't know it. These same tiles are commonly used anywhere high traffic areas might be exposed to water.
Possibly. Although, in many houses here (mine too, because I'm renting), there's only regular carpet in your bathroom. This I don't understand.

Believe it or not, it's not that big of a problem. Just keep it clean, let it air out after a bath/shower and all is well. Trust me though, cold nights getting up to hit the bathroom? No one likes a hard, cold floor. For that reason alone I'll never go back to non-carpeted floors.

Having no other choice, that's what I do. I would still prefer tiles with a rug for easier cleaning. The rest of the house can keep the carpet for that warm, fuzzy feeling.

Now the other elephant in the room... the separate hot and cold taps. What's the deal? :slap:

LVP (Plank-style LVT) FTW. Easy on the feet and doesn't get cold like tile. Easier to clean than tile, as well.
But 3 or 4 times more expensive than carpet tiles. My home has several not small bathrooms. No thanks. Additionally, my family and I like the soft carpet feel on our feet. Carpet tiles work a treat, are inexpensive, are easier to install and easy to maintain. Yes, yes.

That might be a left-over from yesteryear. When I lived in NYC, there were older buildings that has separate hot and cold water spouts. Much less common, but they existed here once as well.

Naaa they are readily available in stores in 2025, last year one of the taps started leaking in our downstairs toilet and my wife bought a 2 tap pair because (in her words), she liked the look of them, they actually do look better than our one tappers upstairs.

Huh. Fair enough. I think that's a thing here too, but it's uncommon.

Seems a bit nuts to me
And I genuinely don't like when bright and vivid people render lifeless. I know justice and fairness never existed but it's still disgusting how some massive jerks live for half a century more than average humans and who you genuinely like end up in coffins sometimes even in pre-salt'n'pepper age.

The looks? Even if water from one tap burns the skin off of her hands while the other freezes it? It is honestly the most nonsensical, illogical thing I've ever seen. :ohwell:

I just try to find solace in Tolkien's words:
“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.
"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

It's hard sometimes.

There is a very good reason why sinks have plug holes and plugs :p
