RX 9000 series GPU Owners Club

Interestingly, HDR looks miles better on Linux than it does on Windows with my monitor.
I miss linux so much! I cameback on Windows after I received my new display, mainly because amdgpu is stuck at 120Hz under 4K because HDMI is proprietary and don't play nice with open source and also because there is no easy way to change the pixel formant of a display other than editing the EDID of it. Also, HDR require more work to set properly compared to Windows (but this seems to be changing at this moment).

Maybe it's stupid question, but is hdr neutral or bad for monitor? Cause I can use it, but I'm afraid of loosing monitor, guarantee is long gone.
With 9070 XT I can do a lot more with my pc, but sometimes I've got this sense of mistrust with newer tech, that I don't know well.
Why would HDR be bad for your monitor?

Interestingly, HDR looks miles better on Linux than it does on Windows with my monitor. Even the monitor's OSD says "HDR+" in Linux, but "FS2" in Windows, whatever the heck that means. I don't know why.

HDR400 is entry level HDR and it doesn't look great in the first place.

I own a LG CX OLED TV and now a KTC M27T20S monitor HDR1000 and I came from a LG IPS HDR400 and the HDR was not good but with my HDR1000 monitor is just wow in comparison.

I haven't tested HDR under Linux doe because some of the games I enjoy need EA and Ubi to work too sadly.

I have Windows installed on a spare SSD for that case.

But honestly, HDR (yes, my monitor is only HDR400) looks great on Linux, crap on Windows.

I'd say don't worry about that because HDR are in spec. Hardware side HDR is quite simple. It's software side that it's more complicated. More complicated for the developers.

Also, depending of the display, HDR can be quite game changing. If you don't use it, you probably are missing something good.

So I will try, cause finally yesterday arma 3 started to work on cachyos
(it was working always, but I've had wrong settings, and I've reinstalled it few times, it I mean linux distro, and arma3, :twitch: downloaded it like 4 or 5 times 50GB),
so some tweaks, and finally I can land on linux with almost everything :) (Windows is for paying, banking and stuff, linux is for fun :D )
I was worried, cause new monitor with the specs that I want is 1/3 cost of parts that I wanna buy to upgrade computer to be worthy of 9070 xt :D

I have 2 of the same monitor so I've ran some tests and HDR 400 does look better than the same monitor on SDR (better colours, darker blacks and reveals more detail) but ultimately just doesn't have the hardware for proper HDR like a HDR1000 display.

It's not something I'd pay a premium for but it came with my cheap monitors so I'll take it. :D

Hey @NSR I ran this monitor on a RTX 4070 before I got my RX 9070 Pure and HDR doesn't cost any fps and it's an amazing experience I had in Indiana Jones and The Great Circle and now with my RX 9070 I am playing CP2077 it looks good in HDR.

CP2077 was the first game I tried it on. The black levels are much darker, the neon city at night looks insane.

You can actually adjust the HDR level in CP2077 it's not just a toggle on/off which was intrigen to see actually.

Yesterday I finally got my hands on Asus RX 9070 XT TUF.
Bought from e-shop for 856 € incl. VAT (695 € without VAT). Slovakia, Czech e-shop.
Not twice happy about the price but I waited nearly 2 months to get this GPU version.
I'm gonna try it today in the evening, so no information on VRAM now.

Oh god, what all else could I've had had for that money ...

I'm looking forward to trying out something like Harold Halibut. Pity they didn't incorporate HDR in Pentiment, not sure if that got added in?!

Beacouse of My mismatched thoughts I've bought for this GPU
Fans 5x140mm arctic this with high pressure, cost around 42 euro
Case with better airflow 56 euro (than hanged it outside the case -.- )
Psu 1000W superflower 156 euro
CPU ryzen 5700X 120 euro (It made colossal difference in fps gain)
Total of 374 euro

and card was around 830 euro.
and still I wanna upgrade to newer mobo cpu (and cooler) and ram, which will be another 840 euros xD (i'm currently saving for it, but cpu cooler is on it's way :D, so only I need 700 euro of saving xD )
So changing gpu will cost Me around 1214 euros xD (additional cost, current cpu will be going to my friend, so for free :) )

@SirKeldon

The price is converted from NOK to USD on purchase date (historically data from XE.com).

Said the guy who owns a £250 case.
I wish I had space for the 7000D, I'd buy one too.

But on a serious note, better to buy a 9070 now than spend the same total anyways on other stuff with less long-term value.

I think I'm addicted to buy things for pc, I've bought lian li lancool 207 for best airflow for gpu :). I think now the gpu will be finally able to breath in enclosure :D

Do you guys get random screen hangs with your GPU?

It has happened to me a few times... I was browsing the web, and my main screen went unresponsive, as if it was a complete system hang (but it wasn't). The secondary screen which is connected to my iGPU worked fine, I could drag windows onto it from my main screen to continue what I was doing. But the main screen just completely froze. I had to restart the PC to sort it.

Anybody had anything similar?

I'm only getting sometimes on cachy os on librewolf that I can't click some stuff, and after reload of site it's working properly.

No. Did you try rebooting the driver's? (not sure what the shortcut is for Linux) Maybe it couldn't reboot itself...

What do you mean "rebooting the drivers"?

The scent is not strong at all. I think it smells almost fresh like Purel soap. My wife smelled it and thought it smelled like ocean immediately. I pressed and she said not like “the beach kind of ocean.” But like an ocean or beach scented candle.

The camera is terrible at pulling it up but the shroud is certainly pearlescent.

Magic GPU! It smells different for men and women! :wtf:

Congrats, by the way! Not many of us dare to buy PC hardware with such a bold design. :)
