Anyone play WoW in 2004/2005? I was in Nightcrawlers Guild on Durotan server, post your guild/server!

I'm just curious to see where you lot were in 2004/2005

I was looking through some old images/screenshots of mine for nostalgia recently. Really amazing times. Those were some good fucking times. Most people don't realize how groundbreaking it was if you got to experience it on day 1.

Server EU Lightbringer... played Thibault, a Mage, in vanilla. Polymorph. Polymorph. Polymorph.

As for Guilds, I had a few, but I started off with an odd bunch of Brits, it really was just a glorified bunch of parties getting together to nuke the vanilla content. We weren't that great. Later I joined another guild and we advanced through the raid-tiers... That's when shit got serious :D Ended up raid leading eventually, myself. So much fun. So much sweat and stress. So much flame. Tears. A dude literally impaling his CRT with a broom stick out of frustration (see random gamer rage youtube vid for an image) because of a 1% death on a boss I don't remember.

Good times.

I was a sick 9 y.o. boy spending most of his time in the hospital. I didn't even know WoW existed.

I wish my parents had taken video of me playing back then, I keep trying to remember what it was actually like and can't remember sadly. I know my CRT monitor was top tier, fk it was good times

I remember seeing Duskwood I think it was called, then Stranglethorn Vale for the first time, man it was so good, again I don't think players later on could appreciate it as much as we did back then

I never played wow

I tried, it wasn't my thing. Never really liked it. I was a big fan of Asheron's Call 2 (the first was okay) and I really liked Aion, but WoW just didn't do anything for me. I liked MMOs back then when WoW released and I subbed for the first 6 months it was out....I think the last 3 months of that sub period I didn't even play. I just remember playing a Hunter, got to level 45 and had a pet spider named Leggy. I think level 45 was the spot where hunters could start wearing chain armor and I was hoping it would help make me a bit harder to kill....yeah, it didn't seem to do a damn thing from what I remember and just gave up on the game out of boredom.

I think I was on stormrage but can't be certain as I moved those toons to another server. Check out the classic servers when they do fresh launches, a bit of nostalgia when you play them.

I played in the wow beta on fileplanet. Remember fileplantet? Pepperidge Farms remembers.

Yup. The fileplanet beta of wow I was able to get in on. Good times, good times/strangerswithcandy

WoW vanilla just nailed the immersive openworld feel, perfect music score, fantastic art and dialogue, humor... I mean its really good content even just experiencing it on your own. Dungeons like Karazhan... straight up brilliance. And yeah like you say the firsts coming into a new zone and how all the little things change; the whole color palette for example. I also think TBC as the first expansion really elevated things, being samey but oh so different. Those zones were just as brilliant and visually a huge upgrade.

I played to L80 with @CrAsHnBuRnXp back in 2011. Played a Priest. It was pretty fun too.

I didn't really get serious with WoW until a couple years later. Drood Tank. Completed ICC 10 and 25 man heroic. Good times.

And im still playing :D

I almost went back for the WoW Classic Anniversary servers, but decided against it.

Maybe when Burning Crusade launches on the Anniversary servers, I may go back. I never go to experience Burning Crusade, so that would be cool.

About a year ago, I thought I'd start playing again, loaded it up, and discovered that my L80 character was reset or something. I can't remember the details, but it looked to me like the entire system was redone and I was a bit confused and never went back.

they lowered the level cap, and changed how numbers work. your level 80 was still level 80 equivalent in the new system, just a new number.

but yeah i tried goes back briefly with a free trial they offered me. too much has changed, story is a mess and not consistent, i couldn't get back into it.

I might to do WoW classic anniversary realm a month before burning crusade launches (early 2026 I think for the classic anniversary servers). just to scratch that nostalgia itch. on the same hand, who has time for that grind anymore. as much as i loved it im not about to follow some wanker guide on how to level to 60 in classic in 3 days. if im going back its because i want to enjoy the immersion of that old world the way it was in 2004/2005 again for nostalgia, which means taking my time. and there are just so many other things to play besides that, i prob won't go back in the end if im honest. unless i find a partner/gf or irl friends that want to do classic together and mic up, thats prob the only way im ever going back

I am Succuba, the co-founder of Nightcrawlers (with Himmelweiss) on Durotan. I just cleaned out old images and I came across the old forum banners I used, so I googled our server name and came across this post. Well Hi xD
