Technical Issues - TPU Main Site & Forum (2025)

clicking on system specs under someones name no longer works right either

just fyi

Switch to the Dark Mode WIP theme, then set the theme color to light mode. It fixes that issue.

omg W1zz made some changes again, and its fucking amazing.

i just copied and pasted a direct share link to a post I made in a forum thread to a private message to someone here in the forums, and it doesn't just give them the link, it actually shows the message in the PM itself!!! so they don't have to clink a link to go to the thread specifically

my mind is blown

ok so here is my ranking of best features W1zz has ever implemented

1. double posts auto merge
2. PM's direct links to threads now show the message
3. easy navigation

4. is soon to be Dark Mode (but only if its easy on the eyes for OLED users, most dark websites actually hurt my eyes, though this more of a me problem as I have strange eyes)

why system specs features, today has become fully transparent, admin ?

I was working on the styles, adding dark mode. This should be fixed now.

The default style nows support light mode, dark mode and auto based on system settings

I like the changes to the the default colour theme. Dark Reader does simply wonderful things with it!

Not such a fan of the Embed thing. It's actually quite irritating in many ways and I have to go into edit and manually modify the link to switch it from "EMBED" to "URL". It's kinda flashy, but doesn't always show the right thing and takes up a TON of screen space. Simple links are better.

For months now I have issues loading the website and its articles. Oftentimes it doesnt load at all or only very very slow. Very few times it actually works normally.
Is there still an ongoing issue with networking as mentioned in the OP? The issue persists on different devices and different internet connections so I doubt the problem is on my side.
I used to read TPU daily but its basically impossible now :(

You should have reached out sooner. No issues. Your IP shows that you are connecting from a VPN or other kind of proxy server?

I'm not seeing anything out of the ordinary in our logs for your IP. Could you elaborate on the issues you see? page not loading, error message, text loading, but images are slow,?

OK I think I found the issue and I feel pretty dumb right now. IP for tpucdn.com somehow ended up on one of the blocklists on the firewalls. Should have started digging more on my end before posting. Sorry for wasting your time!

tpucdn.com uses Cloudflare, and it's on a shared IP with almost 2 million (! I looked it up) other domains in their CDN. Do you have more details on how it got blocked, maybe that info can help other users.

Human error. Seems like we had a lot of alerts and warnings in our EDR solution about suspicious activity involving these IP's, so they were manually added to the firewall blocklists until figured out what was going on. They were then apparently just forgotten about and not removed.

Same here. When turning off DarkReader, the text is visible but the background field is fully transparent.
Has light mode being changed as well? I noticed dark reader looks different to when I turned it off for dark mode.

Happens to me all the time ;) just lucky this time it wasn't me who forgot to remove an old rule ;)

I got a pair of 502's trying to get to TPU just now

I'm not getting notifications from all the threads I'm watching, should I re-join after the last forum update?

Make sure all posts in the thread are read. If you leave some unread (by not going to the last page, for example) it doesn't notify you there are new unread messages.

I can't upload a video using the More options > Insert Video tool.

When I click on it, it opens up the file selection dialogue and lists the selection of formats it accepts. However, when I select an MP4 video, I get the following message:

Same thing occurs if I try to simply drop the file onto the toolbox.

TPU doesn't allow video's to be uploaded. There are other places for that, which you can link to.

Then they should just remove the "insert video" option so people don't get confused.

There is no "insert video" option. It's called "Insert media" and it directly states "Enter media URL:", which means a website address link. Nowhere on the site is there a "Insert video" option and to my knowledge there never has been.

I click the three dots here:

And then there's an Insert Video option

Which opens a dialogue box to select a video file

1748019000480.png

But when a video is selected I get the file type error I posted above.

Ah, this IS new! Not seen this yet. Sorry about that.
I'm guessing from W1zzards response he was unaware of this new feature.
