So my 6700 non xt died ): Very sad and im not doing great financially so i need a replacement around 500 dollars! Australian btw
I play at 1440P @144hz
so the competition
A
4060 8GB WHY DOES IT HAVE LESS VRAM THEN MY CURRENT CARD 480@
magic DLSS stuff tho... about 10-20 percent faster raw performance but that VRAM scares me ~500
B
7600 8GB *litteraly a stupid choice its the same speed with less vram and no benefits except being a lil cheaper* 400~
C
ARC B580 12gb. Finally more vram around in line with the raw performance of a 4060 BUTTTT im scared about how older games will handle intel GPU. *i know a few that refuse to start if they see "intel" in the gpu. 500~
D *the current winner atm*
USED RTX 2080TI bought from CEX *so 5 year warranty*
around 40 percent faster raw gpu. 1gb more vram. WAY more power draw *MY Psu is JUST adequate* Fancy DLSS stuff but not as new?. Faster RTX ig? idk rly
+ can trade in old stuff for credit and it actually has a warranty on it. 580~ *with trade ins 400~
Worried about losing Freesync premium as VRR is a lifechanger.

Thoughts are welcome.

Thing is with 4060 8gb is they tested it vs 16gb, you run outta gpu before vram becomes the problem.

see i would agree with this but i see my Current card run out of VRAM and its slower
forza motosport is the primary title but it will be using all 10gb i have.
I think for example if i went from my RX580 8GB to another 8GB card and now needed to replace it i would be fine with 8gbs but i went from an 8GB card to a 10gb and i worry i will have to turn down settings in games and my brain doesnt let me buy a new computer part thats gonna force me to turn down settings.

I mean i like the IDEA of the 2080ti cause thats in theory even faster then a 4060 but its also 7 years old so idk if the translates to real world.

I know OP plays Forza Motorsport 8, so 8GB cards are almost instantly out of the question. (Early builds of) FM8 will not do well with high texture and 8GB VRAMs (EDIT: at 1080p) even with everything else set to low, and medium texture doesn't look good to say the least.

There is a part of me thinking "How the bloody hell does a 2080Ti in 2025 gets 5yrs of warranty, it's launched in 2018!!". But I'm not familiar with that side of things.
If you're sure you are not screwed in the case of, say, it dies 6months after purchase, then sure why not.

Is brand-new 7600XT or used 3080 an option though?

i think you can find a second hand rtx 3080 10gb @ gumtree

a used card with no warranty is an Intimidate no

Is brand-new 7600XT or used 3080 an option though?
used 3080 is an no
And a 7600XT would be a maybe stretch butt i cant find one in stock anywhere when prices are listed they are 550-600 tho
CEX is a used electronics seller they offer a 5 year warranty on everything. but after 2? years that warranty is a lot worse
Ive checked and my psu is 650w corsair
its right on the bottom end of whats recommended for a 2080ti

My fear then becomes older card =worse performance because drivers? *IDK tbh ive never considered going backwards*
And my Amazing Freesync Premium monitor an its VRR on an NVIDIA card?

VRAM is going to have the same issue as the 4060 but what about a 3070 from CEX? Not sure if they're available but maybe a used 7700 XT could work too. I think those are the best you can get aside from a 4060 Ti, 3080 seems to be like $150 more than your budget from what I can find, but it would be a really good option if you can stretch that far.

Don't worry about Freesync Premium, it will be fine.

Worse performance due to driver isn't likely, but you may want to think about driver support timeframe or worse performance due to temps. And how/if the warranty works after a repaste.

so the 3070 is possible but again 8GB of vram is scary for me
7700xt is very possible but there is literally none somehow?
Honestly 500 is a stretch i can barley afford this GPU but i need this computer to work lol.
And how/if the warranty works after a repaste.
was gonna call and ask about this

MAYBE they service the card but i doubt it
Driver support was a worry but then also
driver support timeframe
This concerned me
Butttt the Oldest supported GPUS atm are the 900 series and those came out in 2015 so in theory i have at LEAST 3 years and surley the card will be obsolete by then *It also doesn't just immidatly die when it stops getting driver updates so idk
Id probably upgrade my 6700 in 3 years if it did not die on me

Actually on the driver support window there was a 2 year gap between the 20series and the 30 series so maybe it will get 4 years?

9060 XT 16GB should be available soon but 350 USD is about 540 AUD

Any used 6700 XT 12GB at CEX?

2080 Ti is a truly flexible beast. You can undervolt it to slightly outscore 3060 Ti while consuming about as much power as your 6700 did; you can overclock it to slot in between 3070 and 3080 and consistently beat the former and other 8 GB nonsense in stretched out gaming. It might be used and stuff but GPUs generally live for much longer than they are viable to use anyway. I would've gone this path. Or perhaps a used 3080, they are dirt cheap here in Russia and possibly in Aussieland, too.

B580. I know how you aussies are with your energy prices

The 2080 Ti is a good card but I don't think it's worth what they're asking for it even with the warranty. Check out the post from @FreedomEclipse it looks like a good deal.

I have a B580 next to my test system I can test certain things if you would like.

hello
Thank you so much for all your responses
B580. I know how you aussies are with your energy prices
ACTUALLY my energy is included in my rent

SO the amount of money i have to spend went down slightly because *eUroPeAN cAR*

and that meant i was faced with a touch choice. Selling my switch and its games. I should be able to get around 400 for it *praying* my 3ds should be able to get 100 easy and a very nice friend has decided to buy the faulty GPU off me for 100 upside down dollars as well so if all this transpires ive got 600 dollars for a gpu

And this made me realise im spending 560 dollars on a used 2080TI when a new 7800xt is 750 dollars *and if the sales disappear a 7700XT is 700* and once My golf forced my hand into selling the switch that 7800XT is very very obtainable assuming i can sell everything fine. the 7800XT is twice as fast as a 6700 non xt this would be a real actual notable performance
My psu is apparently still up to the challenge and its not a 3 year older card
This is the aim. We should know by Sunday. again thank you so much for your help. if theres a 750~ dollar card im missing please tell me

What are the prices for the 5060 Ti 16GB over there? It'd still be an upgrade and you get all the NVIDIA features. Also if you wait until tomorrow the 9060 XT is coming out, should be well under 750. At the very least it'll be a better purchase than the 7700 XT.

800+ dollars
But what’s wrong with the 7700xt and the 7800xt?

On the 9060xt front I’ve never seen new hardware on our stores in like the first month lol

There's nothing wrong with the 7700 and 7800 XTs, they're just not great purchases right now. 7700 XT even more so, it was priced bad even when it came out.

7700 XT even more so,
Sorry if I’m being dense I don’t see how
They are on heavy clearance sales and they seemly handy outperform nearby gpus
The 7700xf is closest to the 5060 and is cheaper
And then the 7800xt at 750 dollar’s aud just seems like the best price to performance on the market atm its competitor the 4070 is a 900 dollar gpu?
Again sorry if im being dense I stopped caring about stuff like this a long time ago and just wanna pick a gpu and throw it in my pc asap

Ive checked and my psu is 650w corsair

This could be the biggest issue with the 7800XT. AMD recommends 700w minimum but I'm not saying it won't work. Just got watch out for the transient spikes. Maybe power limit it a bit for better efficiency and to drop overall power consumption. You shouldn't lose too many frames doing this.

7800XT is a good choice for you atm if you can find one cheapish, especially because your "Worried about losing Freesync premium as VRR is a life changer"

A personal suggestion of mine would be a second hand RTX 4070. A lot of them would still hold their 3 yr warranty and I have seen them go for around $600 AUD.

One of my family members runs a 7700x+7800XT PC with a 650 W PSU without issues. It should be OK.

Has OP tried to find a 6800XT? I think you could find one within 500 AUD.

If not, what about a 6800?
RDNA 2 is a pretty good generation to buy used currently.
