What's your latest tech purchase?

I bought a tube of TG Duronaut.. I dunno.. I will give it some time but I am pretty sure SYY-157 is a bit better..

I had to try since I bought a TG PTM pad for my GPU. I will give everything a couple of weeks before I switch back to what I was running before. Heilos pad on my GPU, and SYY on the CPU.

Le sigh.

Isn't the whole point of that tim longevity with decent performance.

An enclosure for a spare NVMe drive I have around

I guess so, it is as good as SYY-157 now that the air temp in the house is normalized.. it is 27c outside, and 20c in my space.

I just ordered a HiSense U8N 55" Miniled TV. It'll take some days to arrive from Bestbuy, but I had some refunds from some other stuff in gift card form. It's supposed to be a great miniled example (though the 55" is slightly worse than the bigger bois, but still best in its class, and I can't fit bigger, so...)

My 5 year old OLED will be going to the folks downstairs for true TV duties. It's starting to get very minor start menu burn in (only visible on a perfect grey background) but still good for varied TV duty and if I continue to wait, it'll only get worse being I use it as a desktop full brightness with no mitigations (I even used the Service Menu to turn off ABL). Considering that, any prospective purchaser of a WOLED panel IMO should expect at least 5 years out of a modern one, probably longer given my use case was outright worst case. I was beyond pleased with it.

So why go Miniled instead of OLED this time, if I loved it so much? Simple. I like to keep up on tech and want to see what the competition is up to. The higher peak brightness rating on miniled interests me, as well as the higher color volume, and want to see how that compares to the other obvious downsides of otherwise old VA-panel tech (response time mainly, viewing angle does not worry me much). Also working 120hz gsync will be nice.

I'll let you all know what I think soon.

Does it come with Google TV OS or Hisense's stupid VIDAA OS like on my 55U7

Man, there's 3 hours left on Prime deal on the 57" Samsung G9... I'm feeling ansty. It's a terrible buy but dammit, it's tempting. Am I crazy or what?

Update on the Hisense, picture is good, blooming from the FALD is actually minimal (basically only noticable on a small font cmd prompt at 4K). Very happy there.

However, it is a BGR layout rather than RGB:

Not any worse (maybe even a little better) than my old OLED, but still, RGB was my hope of course. Rare these days it seems.

But the rest? Pretty awesome. I'm pleased. Also? Supports wifi 6e frequencies (6Ghz), which was a pleasant surprise.

Google TV. Did my homework there lol. VIDAA is hot garbage, my sympathies. I hear the idle screensaver is especially bad for PC usage.

I have the 34 inch G8 and really like if lol.

Traded my Nintendo switch Pokémon games(sword, shield, scarlet and mystery dungeon dx) and bought Astrobot and medieval to play during this heatwave in the UK.
Can't stand being in the office with the pc in this heat even with a fan.

Also the cex I decided to go to had a copy of SMT Lucifer call( SMT3 Nocturne) and Need for speed most wanted.
Bought SMT Lucifer call as I have now turned into a modern SMT fan(PS2 onwards gen) and then NFS Most wanted 2005 for nostalgia reason.

Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World

Simply loving it. Overall I do not see why all that hate is about but OK. Game itself is great and we have many hours played in Knockout tours.
Everything I have from Switch OLED is compatible (Pro controllers, Joycons, games, saves... everything) so that was one big plus for buying it. Playing on 4K TV via dock.

I bought the 65" version last Black Friday. Great TV even though I haven't used it much. There's been a couple of firmware updates recently. The brightness took me a while to get used to. I only use it as a computer monitor.

Cost. Here it's close to twice the price as the previous models.

Um, wait...

...seriously? Living room PC? If not, how would you fit that on a desk?
It's in my living room along with my insane sound system I've never put back together after moving one year ago. I do all media through PC's, no cable TV anymore (got rid of it a few years ago).

Zalman P30 AIR (white ver.):

Quick fit (will post better pics in MyPC thread:

But that one i got for free, and the IKEA bike also.

I don't know about his arangement but my main workstation is actually an armchair several feet from said TV, lol. Armchair working, gaming, whatever, it rocks.

The brightness is intense and I even had to tone it down some. But now I can say the Sun in KSP really does shine, lol.

Ah. Yeah I do most of my media consumption on PC now too, though the parents do have cable (they insist on it) downstairs.

followed closely for quiet some time - now at Newegg price is almost half of its original - so I pulled the trigger

That sounds REALLY compforatable! Couldn't do that myself. I need my desk space.

Yah unfortunately you can't buy the Google TV version here in NZ so I got stuck with the Vidaa BS it has the worst app store and you can't even sideload an app which peeves me off no end all I was wanting to do was install VLC and Vivaldi

1. I finally got my hands on a Seiko SSH137J1. I've been hunting it since it's launch was only a rumour, to me it's the best looking watch ever made but i'm biased towards Black/Red stuff.
Also: after wearing the Mudmaster for so long this feels like someone else's wrist and hand, it's so light that i panic for a split second, feels like i have no watch on my wrist.

2. Got the JBL 910 Wireless, the lift to mute system on the EPOS Hybrid went to shit and it crackles and pops everytime i lift to mute, fuck that.
I wonder how long the lift to mute system on the 910 will last.
Also: the circle is complete now, headset, mic, and two sets of speakers, all JBL.

I also have a desk but it gets used less and less due to comfort factor, heh. The T14s Thinkpad lives there, lately.

Yeah, I don't even use the smart features much but that still stinks. Sorry man. Hisense does have a habit of getting one firmware right, then updating, breaking it, and refusing to let you downgrade, so I am not letting mine online since it's working well. Oh, and VIDAA? That thing sucks out of the box, unfortunately. It's just built... special lol.

thinner but more durable than the previous ABS one (well it's real carbon indeed ) and looking bloody gorgeous (tho it remind me that i might need to change the tyres ... at least the back one, tho they are still grippy in DH )
20250714_153954.jpg20250714_153950.jpg

better than stock images?
damn that brand has a funny name, but their product have nothing to envy compared to a more expensive one ... 1.80ish meter max, spirit level, portrait tilt, counterweight hook, quick release plate, light but
quite sturdy and stable, 25chf, while a similar Hama would cost me 40chf, and since 15chf would net me 25 cheap lager beer can (5dl) i prefer to choose the brand with a silly name  :toast:

and it fit quite well under my sling bag
20250715_164042.jpg

now i just need a remote with more options than just "release shutter" compatible with the 5+10pin micro-USB (the sony multi, iirc also known as S8 )
like that one

and i could do some timelapse and more elaborate shooting :D (not a fan of setting a timer or a smile detection directly on the camera :D )
