What's your latest tech purchase?

Ambient lighting for my monitor. I picked up this model from Ali:

And the software panel:

It syncs with movies/clips on full screen only, same for games. If not in full screen mode, then either pick your colour or white. I really like it, hope it lasts a long time.

There is a delay in the sync, like 2 seconds or so, but it does change :) Ain't no Philips ambient light, but for the money and basically plug and play, I am more than happy.

If there's a black screen, does it dim or cast a gray color?

It just goes off, let's say the credits of a movie: black background, white credits. It will flash a bit white and the rest turns off the leds. But it is slow and I mean it, this is not a TV level quality. It does follow the screen, but with a delay. By the time it switches a two scenes might of passed and it skips to the new colour.

Finally bit the bullet for new GPU after thinking about it for almost 3 years + a new monitor. GPU was almost at EUR MSRP - 689 vs 715 - which was the main reason.

XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070XT Triple Fan Gaming Edition (the name could not possibly be longer...)
AOC Q27G3XMN

My 1070 Ti had served me very well for 6 years, but it had to go. Monitor was 11 years old XL2411Z.
Nice! You will be happy with those!

Got my new Wharfedale evo 4.1's and OMG what an upgrade from my old Diamond 9.1'sView attachment 404962View attachment 404961
Those look sweet! I go through audio equipment as much as I do PC parts, lol. How do you like them? I know the tweeters can be bright, but also super clear. Ive eyed similar bookshelves and wondered. I have had a few pairs - Presonus Studio monitors/subs, Polk Audio/sub, Klipsch/sub, Kef/sub, Sony, modified BICs, custom built bookshelves and so on. Maybe time for some Waferdales?

Nothing really.

A couple ssds.

sn580 2tB ( meant to replace my dead Netac nv7000)

and

P400 Lite 2TB (Was intended for laptop, but I guess when it said 500GB maximum in the manual, it was for a reason, it caused all kinds of problems. In the desktop it goes!).

Its surprisingly good for the price, it even has a higher tbw than the sn580, despite being $40 cheaper. The sn580 does have have tlc... so.... I don't get it? I wonder if that means its actually more endurant or if patriot is just more willing to offer warranties as that drive is definitely qlc. Maybe qlc has just been improving, not really sure.

The p400 Lite supposedly only has about ~80gb of slc/pslc cache, its a static and dynamic split, can't remember exactly how its divided, but I tested out a 120GB write to see how it would react after it was exhausted, and nothing happened, it continued to transfer at over 700MB/s (its in pcie 3x1, which is why I'm getting lower end drives). Perhaps the lower ceiling helped it fold the data and transfer at the same time? I'm not sure. Either way I'm impressed with how it operates in these conditions even if they are limitted. Randos are as good as the sn580 too.

I guess the real test will be which lasts longer.

Both drives should be good for everything other than new AAA games ( though I'm sure they would do okay in those too), but I'll put them on one of the 4x4 drives.

I bought 3 of these little guys, 60mm. Going to try them on my ram instead of using a ginormous 140mm. I was going to get Black ones, but I saved 3 bucks and change by getting White haha..

White will look better anyway..

Planning to finish up my Ferrari themed gaming room tomorrow-> The red fabric comes to recover my office chair (too expensive to replace) and some fancy wheels for said office chair as well. Hopfully these will be nicer to the hardwood floors? I also ordered a shielded audio cable for my workstation set up. Man, Leds and their power supplies totally wreck a good thing! buzzzzzzzzz New mouse skates come in tomorrow too. I just got in new keycaps for my Ferrari themed build yesterday. Fitted them on my Corsair k65 Lux. And I snagged a MSI z790 Tomahawk on fleabay this afternoon. It will replace my gaming rig's B660 version of the same board. Dippin toes into DDR5 finally.

Example of sort of similar chair

I was going to get those wheels, I went with the rollerblade style instead. Originally for my case, but it is on a table, so danger... now my kid uses them on his new chair. Money well wasted on my end :)

Nice haul :)

I brought a brand new Lenovo laptop for my daughter for uni.
$800 - I bet you can't guess the model!

Specs are:
AMD Ryzen AI 7 H 350
32GB LPDDR5X
1TB NVMe
16-inch 2.8K OLED screen

I managed to snag a used 5975wx from 45% to 65% off retail depending where you look but it seems retail prices have varied wildly over the past few months I've been looking. I suspect with the anticipated availability of the new 9000 series Threadrippers users will start to increase the dumping of 5000 series on the used market which should be nice for those looking to pickup one. One just needs to be patient looking for deals every day for the next year or so and being careful not to get one of those vendor locked ones by mistake.

After figuring out how to root my Hisense TV (they made it surprisingly easy), I decided to get deep into its android guts since I might actually trust the smartOS with some root stuff. The little mediatek ARM64 quadcore w/ 3GBs of ram may not sound like much, but she's a media powerhouse! Hardware decode on nearly every common format including AV1 and VVC (H.266). This makes it very powerful as a media center indeed!

So, seeing that, I suddenly found the stock 32GB built in storage anemic. Luckily, it supports storage expansion via a single USB port and its actually USB 3.0!

This was a natural order of course, once I learned that...

The "supplied by: other" has me a bit leery, but as its sold by amazon it probably isn't a fake.... Will update.

I am very happy with them and i love how they sound, Not realy played a song yet that didn't sound amazing and there is so much more detail vs the much cheaper diamond 9.1 i used to have.
They have just released the new 5 series now to and i got to hear the evo 5.1 and while they have been improved i don't think i would be in a rush to upgrade from the evo 4.1's

Budget PSU coming with all its glory and all its horror :D

Deepcool PL800D .....ATX 3.1 for €67...you read that right. I can see gold+ purists's pupils widening :D ...but but...everything is soldered...it's bronze...what's the hold up time? ...it has chinglish capacitorz!!

...breathe...everything is gonna be OK :) Hold up time is ~17ms. Only thing I am worried is the noise, but I will hear when I fire it up :)

do you really trust chinese caps? i would prefer japanese caps but at that price i would take it, i was kinda disappointed that my "indian" variant of cx550 has chinese ones compared to japenese on other markets.

5 year warranty is not that bad. Bronze is at least some certification. Some countries have more stable power grid and therefore hold up time will not matter. I would not recommend such psu for austria. (... more comment and it may violate the posting rules about politics)

edit: Everyone has to decide if saving 20€, these days 35€ extra for a proper 750W psu is worth it.

Comes with five year warranty and it has a fairly comprehensive review here. Most of the choises made here I am OK with. Only thing I would improve pay is a better fan inside.

Got this a few days ago and took it for a spin earlier today cause the weather was rather bad in the past few days.

The indoor pics are pretty bad but I've forgot to take new pics today when I was outside.
I do have a bicycle which is not even that old 'posted it here like 2 years ago I think' but I REALLY can't stand using it during the summer cause I have a condition that makes me sweat more than the average person so by the time I've got back home from grocery shopping for example I was already sweating buckets and that drove me crazy.
So basically this is a quality of life purchase for me and after trying it out today I can say that it does help a lot with that problem and its actually quite fun to drive.:) 'I'm a complete E scooter beginner but even for me it was easy to get used to'

I've had a max budget limit for it and this just about fit that since its under auction now from the official Navee shop in my country so this also comes with 2 years of warranty from them.
My country/government also has certain regulations regarding E scooters and they are about to make them even more strict by 2026 supposedly so I wouldn't want to risk anything beefier than this anyway. 'With the current laws I can use this freely like a bicycle or so'
I'm not a big dude like I'm around 154 lbs/70kg atm so I can get some decent mileage out of this with 1 charge so thats a non issue and the suspension does help on our roads cause some are questionable to say the least..
I do feel that it could go faster but ofc its limited to fit into our regulations and tbh this is perfectly enough for my use case anyway.
Needless to say that I'm trying to ride it in a normal way and according to the law cause there are already too many idiots and careless kids using these nowadays and thats the main reason why the regulations will be even more strict so I defo don't want to add to those problems..

Are you going to use it to work and back or just whatever comes along? I never understood front suspension on city scooters....I mean so close to the ground, it always collects durt and stuff. I'd just go rigid if I was designing it ;) I advise you to lubricate it from time to time and clean out the dust otherwise it will get stuck (Suntour forks with no maintenance for reference :D :D)

I work from home currently so not really but I do go around in my town fairly often for various reasons and with this I can even visit the closest city thats connected with mine with a bicycle road which is nice.
The suspension does help with smaller bumps and holes and those are quite common around here, supposedly this scooter can even handle some basic off roading tho I really don't want to do that if possible cause I intend to use this for a while.
Yeah lubrication and general maintance is ofc a good idea but that I've already done on my bicycle too.:)

There are a lot of crap brands out there. Diss on the crap brands, not the country they're made in. There are MANY excellent brands who make quality parts that come out of China.
Heck it wouldn't surprise me if some Nippon Chemicon parts are actually assembled in China too.
