Hey folks. I have too much heat producing stuff crammed in a nice, but older, Antec midtower case (X2 6400+ BE, 8800 GTX, 4GB of RAM, and an X-Fi sound card). The five year old case just wasn't designed for all that gear. Even with a reseat of the cpu, an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro and two 120mm fans (all it has mounts for) I still run at maximum for my cpu during gaming (63C).

I'm looking for a full tower case that has great airflow and cooling out of the box. I really don't want to go with a water cooling system (I don't OC anything), I just want one with good ventilation that will allow me to stay reasonably cool with my current gear. Any suggestions? Willing to spend upwards of $250 to stay "future-proof" for a few rebuilds in years to come. Thanks!

I've heard some good things about the Coolermaster Cosmos as far as quietness and build quality. I didn't realize they were good for cooling/air flow as well, but reading a couple of reviews on the link it seems it is. Definitely have to check into that model more. The Lian-Li sounds like a very good quality case, but it's styling is a bit ho-hum. Guess looks aren't everything!

I have the Cosmos RC 1000 and I love it! People knock the fact that it has that vent system for the VGA, but it works! If you get fans that are around 80 cfm, then your case would be air out! I love the case and recommend anyone this case or the S case...

That one looks pretty nice, even though a mid-tower. Do you think I'd have any issues if I put a second 8800 GTX in it (cooling-wise)?

Lian Li are pretty good at being roomy at all aspecs of life... If you make the air in your system after market, and over 80 cfms then you'll be fine on airing the cards... Just make sure its not a negative pressure case..

If you're not looking for overclocking and you don't have a big CPU cooler (Thermalright Extreme 120, Tuniq Tower 120 and such), you might want to check this one:

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Apluscase/TwinEngine/

It should cool your hardware quite nicely. I'm waiting for mine to arrive (2 more weeks ... argh!!!).

I have the Coolermaster stacker 832 and not just I own one as I have had quite a few different makes but space wise, Cooling wise, maintanance wise this case is the best choice I made. But you'll need a 4x4 to pick it up lol

LMAO... The guy at Compusa, when i bought my Cosmos, was asking if I needed a flat bed because of the weight! I laughed and put the thing over my head! Carried it across the parking lot... I love the thing and it gives me the workout I need for when I go to RM's house! lol

Just recently got a Cosmos RC1000.
Have AMD64 X2 6000 with a zalman CNPS9500, 8800GTX, 4GB RAM and Audigy s/c + 5 HDD.
Have replaced fan on the CPU cooler for a quieter and less CFM fan.
Currently cpu runs around 29-33*c idle, tops out 49*c under load and case temp around 27*c
Also have thermaltake hr03+ so gfx card heat is going into case rather than out through the expansion slot, and bare in mind that if the orig zalman fan was still in i'd drop another 3-6*c off the cpu temp.
I can only recommend this case as haven't had anything to do with the others but I am very happy with this case. Loads of space, well designed, looks good and is Oh SO much quieter than my last case.

You can see what i've done to mine here

theres only 2 cases on the market i really like but its just down to my taste every case i look at that i do like always has "but it would look better with / without" Kinda thought to it.

the 2 favorates are casecom mid tower with side window which i use now and keeps stuff very cool and is a cheap case around £18 on ebuyer lol but ive had 3 of them now simply cos i love the looks and airflow.

The 2nd is a premuim case zalman falality series which costs alot more than id be willing to pay although i choose my cases on looks and practicality and NOT by brand name and price or because everyone else has one as this gets very dull very soon and i like to be different.

I did check everything twice and am using just Core Temp to check the temperature. The standard copper pipe AMD HSF and now the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro had temps that were almost identical (mid to high 40s idle and 60-64 in gaming). In the two 120MM fan mounts I placed these Scythe fans http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185006
With the case open temps drop about 7-8 degrees. I made sure the cables were tidy and am using a round ATA cable on the CD/DVD drive.

This is the old case I'm using:
http://www.silentpcreview.com/article76-page1.html
I made sure there was no excess silver compound on the dye or in the socket. I used Antec silver compound on the AMD heatsink and the pre-applied on the Arctic Cooling HSF. Just don't know what else to do. If the mobo is reading incorrectly, is there anyway I can verify that? I have a Gigabyte GA-M59SLI-S5 with the most recent BIOS. I just got to thinking the older midtower case with only two fans couldn't handle all my gear:

X2 6400+ BE
8800 GTX
4GB PC2 800 RAM
250GB Maxtor SATA HD
X-Fi Xtremegamer soundcard

My Xaser is just unbelievably large, too large for any reasonable person. It costed too much but it is the best looking case I've ever seen. My Cosmos is completely shrimped by it. I love the Cosmos too but I can easily fit 2 tri-rads in the Xaser. As for the room inside, lets just say don't sit anything in it for too long because you'll lose site of it in that massive cavern.

I'm going to be following this one closely as I am in the market for a full tower as well.

My water set-up needs more room than my Ultra Aluminus can provide. May be doing a dual loop soon.

Top runners: Silverstone TJ07, CM Cosmos rc1000, TT Kandolf and Lian Li PC-a70 (but not so much)!
