I have a very weird problem.

I tried all the search engines and when I hit the search button they just hang and hang. I surfer no problems just search engines and here and a couple other places. It doesn't make since. I used Adware and Spybot. Is it possible that there is a malware or something like that causing this and Adware and Spybot cannot find? I am lost here.


P.S. It happens in Firefox and IE.

Try using "Whats Running" or "Hijack This" to determine whats locking up or blocking and/or for viri/spware etc. running on your computer

It does sound like spyware, as namslas90 suggests, try "whats running", sometimes spybot or others don't find the offending files, they hide under real operating system files, but in different folder. if that's the case, you will also need unlocker, because windows will not let you delete those files. just be careful to delete the files that are in a different folder as the intended one. (e.g. in windows, but the original file is in windows>system32).

Maybe you could try in safe mode ?.. And check msconfig to see if you can disable the offender on next reboot ?..

No go to hijackthis.de and copy and paste the log file there. Then it will show you what programs you have are considered infected.

Also open up taskmanager (crtl+alt+delete) and go to the process tab and check to see if you see any suspicious or unfamiliar Process that may be running. Then google it and see if you can any more detail on it.

Also I'm not sure if this would help, but did you try deleting the Cookies for both Browsers?

Well even as an administrator Windows won't let you Kill System Process, so he will be fine. You have to be logged on as a System User, but you have to have XP and a bit more knowledge to do that.

I tried the Hijackthis and it came back with 3 items that where called nasty. So I marked them to fix and my machine had to reboot. When it was done eveything worked again. But that was only for a short time. It started acting up a couple minutes later. I am still lost and tryig like hell not to reformat.

Download Winsockfix and run it. (Use a diff computer and a jump drive to download and install if you have to).

Afterwards you will still need to go into safe mode and find the virus thats affecting you.

It could be a Zolob(Zlob) - many diff types, try to ID and Google for a fix or re-format.

Try a free version of AVG and run the "boot-up" scan.

Thanks. Its been a paint for a couple days. And I don't just jump and reformat at anytime I have a problem I always spend days trying to find the problem.

download Process Explorer - it's a MS application and it's free. It'll replace taskmanager for functionality as well


It'll show you all running processes and process trees, and tell you what is associated with what aspect of the OS - very handy should you have malware lurking on your system. Plus, should you ever contract malware that locks you out of taskmanager, Process Explorer will still open.
