I want to hook up my xbox to my 2256BW LCD Monitor.

Materials I have now:

-Monster HDMI cable
-DVI-to-HDMI cable
-DVI-to-VGA adaptor
-composite cable splitters
-TV capture card(causes lag in controller movement when being previewed on the comp)
-audio composite cable to headphone jack adaptor.

If you aren't familiar with how the xbox 360 is made, you can't use HDMI and composite at the same time other wise, I would have this beast up and running with my hdmi cable and the composite audios hooked up to my computer speakers.

My LCD monitor does not have audio built in.

I dont really get what your trying to do...

Edited. First sentence. My god I need to learn to post right lol.

I'm guessing your monitor doesnt have two inputs then?

Are you wanting to feed Xbox picture into PC then back out again??

Why not just get a KVM switch?

If you mean by 2 inputs a DVI and a VGA cable inputs than yes it does.

there is the xbox vga adapter? it has audio things on it

anyway why cant you just use the hdmi, im pretty sure there is a way you can get your hdmi and audio at the same time

Cant you just use that then?
Wouldn't I need some special cable? Explain please. Remember, I only have dvi to hdmi for what you're probably thinking of which would not give me audio.

How? I would if I knew :D

problem is hdmi carries out all of the sound when its used, and if his monitor doesn't support hdmi, meaning it would need to use dvi, which means loss of sound.. and his monitor doesn't accept component cables, meaning he needs to get a special component-vga/dvi adapter.

This is my monitor, if that info can help you guys with a solution.

monitor doesn't support hdmi
Can't any monitor use HDMI with a hdmi to DVI cable?

I see how those would work but if there is a way I could do it with supplies at home that would be sweet :)

I also just dropped $50 on a motherboard and $250 on a new video card and fans a few days ago. I'm 17 years old, working at a grocery store saving for university and a decent moviemaking camera to prep my portfolio:cool: trust me. LOL I don't have a heck of a lot of money to spend at the moment. I guess the truth hurts and I'll have to wait for a good time :P

Thanks everyone for the help :)

Just mod the factory xbox cable to fit while the HDMI is plugged in. All you have to do is remove the plastic casing around it.

Interesting response. Could I possibly take my swiss army knife to it and pry off the side that's getting in the way without any issues? Can the Xbox 360 system for a fact use both HDMI and Composite at the same time?

I'm not 100% sure you can use the analog audio outs, but I know for a fact you can use the optical out that way.

I think it's worth a shot, if you ask me. It's free after all.
