PINE today announced that its graphics division, XFX, is partnering with AMD. The collaboration will incorporate the award-winning ATI Radeon HD 4000 series GPUs into XFX's already impressive line of extreme performance graphics cards.

"We are delighted as this partnership allows us to incorporate the current and future AMD graphics technology into our future graphics card designs, and enables our R&D teams to develop an even wider range of graphics products for our worldwide customers," said Michael Chiu, Chairman and CEO of Pine Technology Holdings.

"In the world of PC gaming, XFX is synonymous with the extreme performance that enthusiast's crave," said Rick Bergman, senior vice president and general manager, Graphics Product Group, AMD. "Their decision to partner with AMD and launch AMD GPU-based XFX graphics cards speaks to the level of excellence achieved by the ATI Radeon HD 4000 series."

XFX will debut its first ATI Radeon HD 4000 series-based cards in early 2009. The XFX-partnered Radeon products will come with all of the popular features that XFX is known for, including XFX's unparalleled 5-Star support, access to customized drivers, and factory overclocked XXX series.

XFX HD4870 Alpha Dog Edition or XFX HD4870 Amp Edition sounds cool too. :p

i think they will drop ATI if nvidia becomes the undisputed GPU king again and does well on the price/performance front.

I dont think they will. Im just astounded it took them this long to hook up really. The X1900 series was a powerhouse and so was the x800 series but they didnt take then. With the 3870 and now the 4870 doing as well as it has, it seems like a natural fit. XFX is a big seller for Nvidia as well.

Well , there is much to say about this and analyze about it but i resume to this , HAHAHAHA Nvidia.

Nvidia::banghead::banghead::banghead:"Dammit! Dammit! Dammit! Years of partnership ruined!!!:banghead::banghead::banghead:

lol. yea i can see that for sure, shit hasn't ATI gained a few past nvidia-chip only manufacturers? wasn't GIGABYTE, gainward, as well as palit only nvidia at once? haha i may be wrong i just remember readin that ATI had gotten a manufacturer or 2 that was once only nvidia

yea, thats right palit and gainward were nvidia partners, not sure about gigabyte, i thinkthey were always neutral.

Visiontek was Nvidia Only until few years ago.

so it is done , xfx give nvidia a big smack
ATI XFX :slap: NVIDIA

Nope XFX will continue to Sell NV Cards along Side ATI cards, they are just expanding their market, and they are actually pretty popular with many, soon to be with AMD Users.

yeh i know that's just like other brand's like asus or gigabyte , but xfx it is different they was sell only nvidia product's like evga , and there is some brand's do ati product's only like sapphire , if you see sapphire do nvidia card's you see surprise too

Well Visiontek did sell NV cards for longest of time then they Switched Sides as of the X Gen Cards

There is 1 company i do miss, that was Guillemot Hercules, i swear during the time they actually put heart into their graphics products until 2004 they ceased production for unknown reasons.

Actually PC Partner (im almost certain that it's PC Partner, might be some other company too) is the head of both Zotac and Sapphire, so you can think Zotac cards as Sapphire for Nvidia. :)

And yes, XFX will continue to make Nvidia cards.

This really shows how badly Nvidia is doing. Oh how the tides can turn so quickly.

Not really. It shows sense on XFX's part. There's no reason to stay loyal to Nvidia if they've got the resources to make ATi cards as well. Especially in this economy, there's no reason to leave money on the table.

mmmm , i didn't knowm that i hear it from you now , did we back in first piont why they Switched to ATI

In short, you're an NV fan that's not happy with this. Don't worry, XFX won't stop selling NV cards, this move won't affect its product quality in anyway. People wanting to buy an XFX NVIDIA card will continue to buy them. Them selling ATI shouldn't affect the normal buyer, only a fanboy.

Need not. Ideally they should start off with 100% reference design cards, with a little expansion in the RMA and after-sales support departments. To sell reference design cards, all they have to do on their end is to make stickers and packaging. The cards and cables will be sourced from OEM vendors such as PC Partner, InfoTek Corp, Foxconn, etc.

So XFX won't actually be making ATI cards? Do they actually make nvidia cards or its also outsourced? I know they dont make mobos as manufacturing for the big 3 nvidia partners is done by foxconn and others but i though they at least make their video cards. I think if XFX doesnt make their own then BFG and EVGA prolly dont either. PC Partner, i didnt even know they made graphics cards only mobos.

Andy does have a point about XFX going red, it does feel a little weird and it may turn off some nvidia fans but i think eventually folks will get used to the idea especially if they have a successful line of cool looking cards with black coolers and red PCBs. Most people prolly dont even remember that Visiontek used to make nvidia only and now that brand is associated exclusively with ATI. From an economic perspective the move makes total sesnse as in today's economy one has to do what it takes to survive, it doesnt make as much sense from a marketing standpoint but like i said people will get used to this.
