Microsoft Windows 7 RC Available for Download

Got a constant 700kbps... hehe. On my desktop now... pitty i don't have a computer.... lol.

:toast::rockout: Just upgraded from 7077 with no problems,Just uninstall the cat software before hand, that is Install Manager and CCC.

Everyone is getting the Java downloader, right? I find it funny they're using that to serve the ISO's and not some sort of Silverlight-based version or something...

It took Creative forever to make decent Vista drivers. I wouldn't count on them to jump all over Win7 either, but it would be nice.

I downloaded the RC1 last night without issue. I don't have a machine to put this on yet, but when school is out maybe I'll throw it on my laptop for fun.

Yeah, thats what held me back in purchasing a better sound card until recently too. Not just X-Fi but sound card manufacturers in general took forever to get decent drivers out.

One glaring issue that I have had with Vista that I hope is cleared up by 7 is allowing for hardware sound acceleration. Vista doesn't do it, at all. Whatsoever. So while your sound card may end up cleaning up your sound and making it sound crisper and clearer than integrated at least, its processing and encoding power is not being utilized because Vista forces it to be processed by the CPU anyway.

I've got Windows 7 beta 7077.

Does this finally fix the X-Fi compatibility, or am I crazy for thinking that's possible by any other means than Creative actually releasing Windows 7 drivers?

They have released Beta drivers for the Xifi on Win 7, I am using them now without issues :)

Im getting mine (1.43 Mbs ), I hope this version will include more user customizations.
So anyone knows if W7 is fully compatible with X-fi cards? or Creative has some drivers for W7?
and W7 RC will include new features?

Downloading x64 now and also x86 for the laptop i am getting tonight. Only problem i am facing is that the laptop has 16gb SSD (which is all i need personally) But Windows 7 RC recommends 16gb...Now we all know that you never get the full size stated on the hard drive. Do you think I will be able to install it on my laptop with a pinch of luck?

download it now x64

I'm typing this now on Win7 x64 :)

I squeezed windows 7077 (x86) onto a 8gb partition. Had barely any room to breath though lol (400mb, didn't check what happened to the pagefile, since I've now got it on the main partition).

Where's SP2 Now!

I'm downloading RC

YET

I'm installing Build 6850 right now(via USB :p). Now I enlisted the PS3 40Gig HDD(never found that stupid SSD) split it in half. I'm going to compare which one is faster than the other. Reason is I really really really LOVE build 6850 I HAVE ZERO ISSUES.

Took 10 mins to install the x64 version, and I didn't need to install any drivers.

They changed the taskbar in 7100

i'm running it now.

zero issues, had to install a fwe drivers via device manager, but even crossfire worked on the first go.

Getting better FPS in everything i've tested - my avg went from 280 to 300 in company of heroes - its totally noticeable (lol)

LMAO a guy here where i live is trying to sell a copy of win7 for 100 bucks on kijiji, what an ass

im hoping a pre RTM build will be leaked soon

the releases will continue in RC's, until MS beleives they have all the bugs fixed. then it goes RTM. Rarely does an OS every pass RC2. (iirc, 2000 hit RC3)

Thanks Gzero :)
I asked this in another thread but i think it is more suited in this one.

I am trying to install the x64 now, but it keeps wanting me to install the cd/dvd drivers. I have googled around and alot of people are having this problem. I can't seem to get passed it and i don't know what drivers to download and use. I have tried running threw IDE and Sata and changing it to IHCI in BIOS but still no luck, I have also tried re burning the disk and it still doesn't work, any ideas?
