Chieftec Intros Nitro Series PSUs

again, an under 300W PSU...

Can you imagine your PSU running my PC? it only draws 350W from the wall at load. 400W in peak synthetic testing.

My 500w ocz will run it just fine. Its not exactly a power hog

you're using an 850W PSU to run a PC that uses less than 300W of power. of course its alright.

Try running it above 600W and see what happens to it.

and exactly how much does a 1090t and 5870 consume exactly? probably around the same

Well they consume a lot less than a 3870x2 and a phenom 910@3.8ghz and I run that on my 500w ocz hell they consume a whole hell of a lot less than a phenom 910 and 4870x2 which is what that rig used to run.

Well I have owned a corsair 520w and 620w and also a chieftec 650w I agree corsair is one of the best brands though it really does my nut in the mentality of the people who just blindly shout corsair, yes they are ONE of the best BUT....... There are other brands also and imo just as reliable. Though there is no cure for blatant fanboyism :shadedshu

Because of that blatant fanboism iwont buy a corsair unit it annoys me they are nice but they are not the end all for psu's the cwt built units I own are just as good as the cwt built corsair and buying a seasonic is just as good as the highend corsair. When they come up with their own oem that's like buying a pcp&c I will look at them until then there are more than enough brands that have a good value and performance that are not corsair. Also I would like to see mussels godly corsair run my rig complete with fans and water cooling. I have this feeling I will loose some of my oc...

indeed. my previous system (4870 crossfire + Q6600) is what needed the 750W PSU i have now.

about 150-180W per card at full load (which they wont reach in most systems/games)

I know...thread necro however, I want to clear something up about these PSU's.

The 550w - 950w PSU's are manufactured by CWT using the same base that's in the Corsair line of PSU's (I'm not sure if it's TX or HX as the review was in some other language and didn't translate all too well). They are all 80+ Silver (at least it says so on the package) and can deliver their rated continuous wattage with great voltage regulation from the reviews I looked into. They are all single rail from 550w-950w with the 950w pumping 76a through it's 12v rail. The 1200w uses 2 x 50a 12v rails. All in all, not a bad unit at all.

The only downside is that it only has a 2 year warranty on the PSU's.
