Another quiet nite of gaming and browsing without any problems or crashes. I hope they can fix the problem with the latest driver, but 257.15 seems to be a perfect match for my system. I suppose it's time to start thinking about that 3rd 275oc and a larger PSU.........

257.21 and 257.41 also work 100% with SLI Mod. I wouldn't add a third card for Tri-SLI, you might get stuck with these 257 drivers, without proper SLI support for upcoming games.

might be worth buying an SLI capable board then.

This hack is all well and good, but if you NEED SLI, or certain features... then the mod aint for you. this is for people willing to accept that some things just aint gunna work right, or work at all.

kudos to those making the mod, although i think you're fighting a battle you'll eventually lose, due to nvidia constantly screwing things around in updated drivers.

So I tried with disabling realtek LAN and HDaudio. First time happen in 20 minutes with a blank screen but came back 1-2 minutes later. Second time the bsod within 5minutes. just for kicks, ran furmark for 20 minutes and bsod again.

It seems like nvidia might have gotten the new drivers to disable sli hack.

I am currently looking into an intel i7 x58/P55 setup if a deal ever comes up. I'm sure future drivers are going to give me more benifits on these gtx 465's than the 257.xx.

Thanks for the information. I will wait a little longer and when nvidia decides to release new drivers, the testing will commence again. Hopefully this will be soon.

anabolic (hehe spell) also says 258 drivers + SLI Mod works for most russian guys...with other than GTX260 SLI... so, there again...SLI Mod on its own works.
32bit seems to work, ppl report so.
XP works also.

Bad: W7 x64 and GTX260 SLI

browsing SLI forums etc...this one catched my eyes...omg, read it, two posts:

http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=176370

You get that error msg when you have game running ( I tested)... now what has that anti virus app to do with gfx ? ...................... put in realtek and nvidia and we have a real soup.

just tested 3dmark06 for a proper score and it seems to work.
no stability tests made yet.

I don't understand why you are using the SLIpatch, the X58 supports SLI & Crossfire natively, right?

not all of them support SLI, actually.

They all support crossfire, and MOST of them support SLI - but some of the cheaper models had artificial limits put in to prevent SLI working, to make people cough up for the premium models.

Can you crossflash it with a GB board that does support SLI. Like a UD5 or something?

Yesterday I tested disabling "Intel ICH10 PCI-e Root 1" and "5" from Windows device manager...dunno what they are, already had "Intel Chipset Series 4 PCI-e Root 1" and "2"...I first tested disabling them, rebooted and games ran OK in 257.41... installed 258.96 but the usual 15 min freeze.

Today I'll do lil more I think... Flash mobo BIOS to older F9. I remember windows discovering new hardware (PCI-e Root 2) when booting first time with newer F10... just need to find the USB floppy or USB sticks.

EDIT ///

BIOS flashed to F9 (crappy one coz 50% of all reboots result in "oc failure" or BIOS recovery flashing), 3-4 minutes until black screen, which recovered after I quit game with ALT + F4, got pic back in 15 sec...

I notice few things: Primary display in BIOS (PCI, PEG, PEG2)...in F9, POST is visible even tho PCI is selected (and it IS by default)..With F10 u HAVE to select "PEG" to see POST messages.. Once in Windows u get screen whatever setting was in BIOS (PEG = PCI-Express Graphics). Also, lot more black flashing before windows desktop is visible with older F9 BIOS.

Will flash back to F10 soon.

Okay, I removed, and reapplied the 0.8b patch for Win7-64bit, and downgraded to the nVidia 257.15 drivers and everything seems fine. I have the SLI bridge installed, and I've run 3DMark Vantage & 3DMark06 several times without a single incident of any kind. The bench scores look very good. I'll update y'all if the problems come back.

Still going good after a weekend of Gaming and multimedia on the 257.15 driveres. No issues at all.

Could be the new stuff only lies in OpenGL.

You got that wrong :)

If ain't broke, fix it until it is !

I haven't tested, probably won't since it's most towards OpenGL for Fermi/GTX400 series.. but I see there are other ones willing to test :) :toast:
