Be Quiet! (brand name) announced a major expansion of its power supply lineup, with two new product lines: the 80 Plus Silver certified Straight Power E8 series, and 80 Plus Gold certified Dark Power Pro P9 series. The Straight Power E8 series includes 400W, 450W, 500W, 550W, 600W, and 700W models that have completely fixed cabling, and 480W, 580W and 680W models with modular cabling. The Dark Power Pro P9 series, on the other hand, includes 550W, 650W, 750W, 850W, 1000W and 1200W models, all of which have modular cabling.

The Straight Power E8 series models are ATX V2.3 and EPS 12V V2.92 compliant, use a more compact chassis, and are cooled by a 120 mm Silent Wings fan, and use four 12V rail design (with the exception of the 400W model that has a three rail design), prices for this series start at €69.90, and go all the way up to €149.90. The Dark Power Pro P9 uses a slightly longer chassis, also cooled by a 120 mm fan, it uses highly durable capacitors, and a four 12V rail design. These are priced between €149.90 and €269.90.

I've always found the Be Quiet! PSU's quite smexy. That P9 looks extra nice; lots of attention to detail even down to the hinge on the 20+4 cable.

Underrated PSU manufacturer, they need more publicity!

The p9 looks very nice, i had never heard of be quiet before though *goes to look for some reviews*.

I've had nothing but trouble with PSU's by them.......:banghead:

I've had nothing but AWESOME.

Still prefer the older design with 6 12v rails myself ( nickel plated psu anyone?)

But these are coo' too.

Looks very good, wonder what the 1000w ones will be priced at, might be interested in one in a while.

Maybe they could change the name for starters, "Be Quiet!" sounds like chinese cheap stuff, just sayin'.

The switches are absolute cr$p one melted one burned out and the RMA service not better:mad::mad: (for France at least).....so much for quiet: they never work:laugh::laugh::laugh:

jonnyguru reivew any of these?

Does anyone know their OEM?

Otherwise, its just a pretty case and possibly not worth buying.

I've used a couple of their PSU's for six or seven builds last year (300W up to 800W).
Three died this year (including the 800W one). The RMA'd ones are still running but QC doesn't seem to be that great.

Very sexy. This is what we need. Innovation and uniqueness in style for the PSU market. These are very very nice.

They are a nice manufacturer but I don't think they are available stateside.

the sliding p1 connector is awesome

I don't mean to sound rude by asking, but is this a statement based on you knowing what the switches are, or just from what happened to the ones you had?

Because they use very high efficiency parts, they're also pretty damn stable ( the dark power pro range anyways) it be kinda weird for them to dick up this way

I had good Customer Care as well with mine, I had a 750w dark power pro ( the kind I described earlier with 6 12 volt rails) and I thought I had a faulty cable bunch so emailed them just to ask about the process of rma, they're reply was " Very sorry to hear about this, give us your address we'll ship you new cables asap"

They didn't even ask for proof of purchase or anything

Better than XFX support by a long way XD

*edit*

Thought I'd remind everyone that the p9 has a fan controller built in, as the power supply probably won't ever get hot enough it will run the fans at 5v( if it did how ever it ramps it up to 7 and then 12 if needed), and keep them running for 2 minutes after case shuts down.

Quite good if you've bought some high speed fans but they're noisy as crap.

at least they have labels on the output sockets, unlike the overpriced corsairs ax series that don't have any labels

I only like the extra fan connectors on the better model (right one)...

I thought those could be fan connectors, that i think is an awesome addition as i have multiple fan speed controlers with long wires that would be perfect for using direct to the psu instead of having to use molex adaptors, even more so as the adaptors are the only reason i have a molex connector on my psu (modular and nothign else uses molex in my pc).

Be Quiet! is owned by Listan, who also owns Revoltec.

Now theres a different looking design. The one with the longer chassis is real looker.
