MSI GeForce GTX 580 HydroGen OC Priced

MSI's high-end GeForce GTX 580 graphics card that's ready for water-cooling out of the box, the MSI N580GTX HydroGen OC, released in the European retail market, priced at €563. The N580GTX HydroGen uses the same full-coverage water-block as the N480GTX HydroGen, probably sourced from Heatkiller. The block uses a full copper base and composite metal top. It is ready for G 1/4" threads. The card comes slightly overclocked out of the box, but with the kind of cooling at its disposal, it leaves the fun part to you. The GPU is clocked at 823 MHz, CUDA cores at 1645 MHz, and memory at 4276 MHz, against reference speeds of 772/1544/4008 MHz.

I don't think unscrewing their bracket and attaching an evga single slot bracket will void the warranty.

Says 480 but also works on 580.

It might if you're dumb enough to RMA it with the single slot plate.. But i don't see how it will if you ship it with the double slot plate.. There's not label or tamper tape to say hey if this tape is broken then void warranty...

The screws tend to be marked.
The point, moreover, is that MSI themselves call it a single-slot design, yet don't fit a single backplate to it.

Well.. every GFX card I've ever had or sold to a customer has had a very small dab of glue, with either red or black dye on the edge at the back of the card/screw tip.
Even my current card (HD5850) has that. The glue is hard and cracks when you remove the screw..
Again, it's besides the point. Why market this as single slot, but not include a single-slot backplate?

Manufacturing laziness? I honestly can't think of any good reason why they would use a dual slot plate. Perhaps to keep things sturdy when mounted in a case, but that's about it.

Rofl its called lock tight it keeps the screws from backing out do some research before blaiming the man for doing something smart lol
