After the launch of NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 560 Ti, AMD made it easier for partners to release overclocked and custom-design Radeon HD 6870 graphics cards. Partners seem to be responding to this. HIS released two new custom-design Radeon HD 6870 graphics card models, based on the Barts IceQ X board design the company implemented on its HD 6850 IceQ X series. Like with the HD 6850, there's the base model that sticks to AMD reference clock speeds of 900/1050 MHz (core/memory), and a Turbo-X model that uses overclocked speeds of 975/1150 MHz. The "X" in Turbo-X denotes that it's faster than the Turbo model based on AMD's reference design board, by HIS. The cooler makes use of a slightly large aluminum fin array to which heat is conveyed by 8 mm thick nickel-plated copper heat pipes, which is centrally ventilated by a 92 mm fan. The cooler is covered by a frosty-looking shroud. Like with every other HD 6870, the card features 1120 stream processors, and connects to 1 GB of GDDR5 memory over a 256-bit wide memory interface. HIS did not give out pricing details.

OMG! Almost 1000MHz! That's pretty insane for a factory overclocked Graphics Card...

this puts gigabyte HD6870 SOC to shame

Color...

Color is very pale...they could use more bright :D

and they could raise up core clock to 1 GHz...

There's probably an agreement with AMD to limit the max overclock to stop 6870s getting to close to 5870s.

That's what I would do if I ran a chip company

The color looks horrible, it makes them look like cheap chinese nock offs.

these look gay what happen to the better than stock iceQ coolers these are shit in comparo

Agreed, they had a much better looking design for the 4000 series, not digging the scheme this time HIS.

it looks cool with blue scheme, and feel pretty cool too

My overclock is in progress, but my 6850 by HIS runs at 1ghz core stable, with only a slight voltage bump. It just gets too hot for my tastes with that cooler that HIS uses on the regular 6850.

Once I get a better cooler, hello 1ghz 24/7.

I was hoping for a fancier or somewhat better cooler being something along the IceQ Turbos and what not, I do like the speeds though

Eww yuk,,, I do wounder if they would look better with a clear ice look with a white PCB lol.

I was just kicking back and watching the comments (I like the look of this card, looks frosty, and chilly), but now that you've mentioned that, a white PCB with a clear, maybe slightly-arcticy-blue fan shroud would look extra-iceberg

Shame no one does or can do clear PCBs that be totally awesome lol

Clear pcb?,fiber optic raytracing,(different color circuitry), chips change color as they get warmer , Doubt it,now put that pipe down ,before you hurt yourself,
.Artic Cooling Silencer Series is or was clear ,not sure if they can still be had , i've modded a couple of 5770 ,with a pair design for nvidia 5950,from the clearance bin at memory express.dremmel and a soldering iron an you are set, drill an taps are handy also, turned out sweet.both now match as they had different Hsf stock, they were recertified from clearance bin also, lol,I've had a couple earlier model radeon 1650 pro with iceq turbo coolers were nicer than these the takin inside air an blowin outside still makes sence to me.
