It's not even 15th of the month, and AMD already released its monthly update of the Catalyst driver suite, which is normally reserved for the last week of the month. Catalyst 11.5 WHQL doesn't come with any performance enhancements as such, but apparently AMD found that a certain feature-enhancement in HydraVision was important enough to warrant a WHQL release. HydraGrid feature found in HydraVision is now aware of custom (user-created) Bezels. There's now also a "Automatic Grid" option that aligns to the user defined Eyefinity display layout.

The rather dull WHQL release is backed by a Hotfix release that comes with a lot more outstanding issues. Catalyst 11.5a Hotfix update includes fixes concerning quality of videos GPU-transcoded from H.264 clips to MPEG2 Blu-ray video, intermittent cursor lag, performance and quality enhancements for the upcoming game Brink, and flickering noted by Radeon HD 6600 series graphics cards with DDR3 memory running in DX9.

hmmm... after installing the new drivers, I can hear sound, but youtube videos are only green? maybe it's just me. I'll try reinstalling it to see if it solves the problem.

Edit: looks like it was just a bad install somehow, the reinstall fixed it. woot wei went up by .1 lol

This months driver and this hot fix are the first i have installed for a while now as they finally include something that effects me as i pre ordered brink.

So far not a single issue and a nice smooth install.

I know at times AMD drivers have sucked but for so long now i have had no driver issues, hell i don't even remember the last time a saw a corrupt cursor in eyefinity, are the drivers getting better or am i just very lucky?

Although after saying this i hope i don't start getting the corrupt cursor again now i have updated

Since AMD acquired ATI, I didn't had any driver problem. Specially these last 1-2 years or so.

I haven't had any driver-related issues since I had my X800 Pro. That could also be because I had an nVidia card in there somewhere, but I had my HD4870 for quite some time with no issues. I think AMD really pushed for better Driver's since that was one of the biggest complaints about ATi cards (everyone I know hated them).

To be honest, I didn't had any problem with my old AGP ATI 9800SE, maybe the improvements in drivers started to take place within ATI itself before the acquisition by AMD.

WTH? I only installed 11.4 WHQL last week.

Not that I'm complaining - the more regular the better. But to be honest, I wouldn't be bothered installing these if I wasn't doing a complete re-install of Windows later this week.

Thats how it is with any drivers in my option. It's very nice to see them plugging away with updates, but they do it because there are so many different hardware configurations out there. What works well for one might not work well for another. But if it is working well for you, don't fix what isn't broken. In the past I've had perfectly fine working older drivers, then moved to newer ones and had issues. So now I try to just stick with what works, if problems arise, I'll try newer drivers.

Yep, that's how I roll. I'll use the latest WHQL drivers (or particularly enticing hotfix drivers) when I do a clean install, and only update when a particularly enticing update comes along. Prior to 11.4 I was on 10.11e, or something like that.

Speaking of updating AMD display drivers, when I did decide to do 11.4 last week, I figured I'd try Steam's update function, but it only updated to 11.3 WHQL, and told me that was the latest. Weird. Had to do 11.4 'manually' myself afterwards.

Before I knew of the 11.5a hotfix, I installed the normal cats and the improvements I have across the board are great.

I'll be installing the hotfix as I should be receiving Brink on Friday.

:D

Meh, I'll stick with 11.4 untill I feel there's a valid need to move on.
I've had a few driver issues over the years, but nothing major and probably only something a person that scrutinises like I do or more would notice.:ohwell:

Got an bsod while updating to 11.5 via ccc, then got a no amd\ati hardware installed and driver failure, clean up everything, reinstall and all good...

soooo does this driver now fix the texture flickering issue in some games that use opencl
now dll'ing
k flickering ins fixed

Just updated to 11.4 last week :D

working good so far but cursor lag still happening top right top corner :shadedshu

The hotfix did not help with Brink at all.
I think it just made things worse. Actually doing some research others claim the Hotfix reduced performance as well...
Any easy way to roll back?

Anyone try the Hotfix with brink? Was it only for the 6 Series cause it didn't specify.
