Beating their own OC record of 7.384 GHz set earlier this week, overclocker alvinkenzo took the $122 AMD A10-5800K APU all the way up to 7446.41 MHz, achieved with a base clock frequency of 120.1 MHz and 62.0x multiplier. The core voltage was set at 1.992V, and one of the two modules were disabled, a discrete graphics card was used. Memory speed wasn't tinkered with, at DDR3-1600 MHz, a pair of G.Skill-made modules were used in dual-channel configuration. Seating it all was MSI FM2-A85XA-G65 motherboard. The CPU-Z validation for the feat can be found here.

I wonder if they are going to break 7.44642 GHZ. There had better be another press release if they do. Huge milestone.

Good work guys! Can't wait to see more!

Piledriver at 7.4ghz...hmmm, about as fast in IPC terms as an inexpensively cooled Ivybridge at 4.8Ghz.

..yes, that's how crap they are.

I woudn't say amd is crap. Just 2nd best.

If you want to include Via, might as well throw in ARM.

Just because you use x86 doesn't mean you are using it right. :D

VIA would get the participation ribbon, if they ever participated.

Intel has set the bar high but amd is still number 2

For $122, this APU is very impressive. Shows the OC potential for Piledriver cores. NICE,

Someone should poke the cpu and tell me how hot it is

Celeron and pentiums all over the world shudder in fear..........this indeed is our darkest hour.......

My FX-8120 OC'ed to 4.40GHz with all 8-Cores running and it doesn't break past 55C. Piledriver should do even better.

Considering this is marketed and performs similar to a core i3 seems like the market this is aimed for has a good product in both OEM and homebuilt form. The smaller A6 and A8 units are marketed at the Celeron and Pentium series. I would take a minor (if any) drop in performance on the CPU core for the vastly better GPU.

You make no sense! Why would you compare a highend CPU with a budget CPU?

Me too...... Was refering to the over clock record held by pentiums and celerons

Pretty damn awesome IMO, keep up the good work guys! :) Love the Vcore! :rockout:

Not really. I find an overclock better if you can actually use it. This is just an epeen thing. Nothing to see here really. Unless you BM and/or run a system at these speed then this mean jack shit to me. And jack left town.

Oh, yeah? You were quite happy running your RAM underclocked for the longest time so that doesn't surprise me, you seemed quite offended when I tried to assist you in setting up your OC. Remember?

You must remember because looking at your sig you took my advice

lol

Okay you missed my point. I think that as it is cool and all it is impractical if you can not use it. Is this OC being used for 24/7 use? NO IT IS NOT! It can not even run a BM! So other than the Epeen what is the real gain? I just do not see it. This also goes for any INTEL chip being overclocked beyond what you can USE it at! It is worthless! Nothing more. Yeah I can AND DO use mine 24/7 with the OC I have, It is WORKING and I see it as a good thing. This however is nothing more than an Epeen OC. :respect:
Oh and I do not recall me being offended at any thing you said. I took all the advice that was given and it worked out great for that I thank You all!

good good. but ivy isnt inexpensive in the first place. i rather buy myself a bike than an ivy i7 XD
