HAH!

DiRT3 had so much simulation in it that you could adjust the downforce on a A110 (or any 60's/70's car by that matter) and the Cooper S shat as much flames as a quattro. I had to mess with the diff, set downforce to low and gearbox to short, to try and make Gr.B cars react like they should...completely uncontrollable. And they were still very controllable.
At least it wasn't like in CMR2.0 where a Cooper S has 6 gears and the 6r4 behave like a 500hp RWD car.

its not perfect. its the best on in the market. you cant expect the devs to make them totally realistic as im sure none of them have actually driven most of the cars in the first place. they work on input from racers and stuff.

at the same time, they must not make it too difficult for people to play. i am the only one of my friends who can play dirt 3 without assists. :p

I'm a SP fan and HATE MP GRID/DIRT.. yada... I can wipe the floor with bots and hit my lines on the hardest levels, but get wiped on on MP.

On BF3 though, strictly MP, LOL...

I'm exactly the opposite... Except I don't play BF3 SP and I'm just not very good/interested in MP anymore. I win often in GRID and it's nice to find another competitive player once in a while.

You're not telling me anything new.
Of course it's the best of the market, but then I ask, what market?
Where is the competition? At the time of launch it only had to compete with DiRT2 and/or get a sale from those die-hards that won't leave RBR. (Don't even mention WRC/WRC2, because those were complete crap)
In terms of realism, I think RBR came very close to it (Using steering wheels). Closer than any codemasters title did, anyway.
Of course codemasters' titles look for the biggest audience now, the causal gamers, because their finance isn't at its best, atm. That's why you had the pinnacle of casual gaming with Dirt:showdown.
And good for you, for not using assists. But I remind you those silly assists only came along with DiRT1, IIRC. So anybody that played the previous game never used them to begin with. There was no need to.

On Topic: The game seems a bit dumbed down, but at least the car list seems interesting.

This is what I expected from the game. Thing is, from what I'm seeing so far (except lack of cockpit view) I haven't found any inclination of things being dumbed down from the 1st GRID.

Are you referring to anything specific?

YOU TAKE THAT BACK RIGHT NOW MiSTER!:mad::mad::cry:

Shift 2 sucks[with anything but a steering wheel] everythign about shift 2 or any nfs game nowadays makes you aware that you are playing a game. its like all the things have been dumbed down.

Notice the bolded bit I added for you.

Also Shift is entirely removed from the NFS series in all but it's name. Car tuning, race series, model selection and options are more in depth. It's also mod-able; visit no Grip Racing.com and you'll find plenty of reasons to use Shift 2 over Grid.

I don't play it anymore, I use Simbin, but for a while - when I wanted more production vehicle type driving, Shift 2 was more important than Grid.

Shift 1 & 2 were pretty fun. I even managed on KB with Med AI without driving line or brake assist. The only thing that bugged me really was the tendency for some cars, esp with body kits, to spark on the track.

No. That slows you down. People who ram rarely win... when I'm playing anyways.

I am waiting for some motorcycle game more than cars, but my need for speed (tm) brings me to cars. The thing I hate most of most car games or sims is the ridiculous speed, as if you were driving a F-16.

Then the best controller and less supported in many games is a good joystick.

The fact that the game has the 300ZX, M3 and 190E makes me want to buy it...

This is what I expected from the game. Thing is, from what I'm seeing so far (except lack of cockpit view) I haven't found any inclination of things being dumbed down from the 1st GRID.
Well no, not from the 1st GRID. It actually follows the same style. Ridiculous oversteers/understeers that you can recover easily by taping the brakes and some compensation from the steering wheel, collisions seem to have almost no effect, unless the vehicle being hit is almost stopped.
Are you referring to anything specific?
I think that for those "overtake" races, you really have to throw a fit at the steering wheel to make the car oversteer or understeer.

On the "no cockpit view", I mean, sure it sets the mood for a game more meant for simulation, but I didn't use it in GRID1, because I just couldn't feel the car and know where it was. That view simply didn't help me. Other games/simulators have done it way better. So, for me, meh.

Has it been confirmed that the game is going to use Steam/raceNet solely for matchmaking?

The ones I played against always spun me but still, I used to finish in the podium.

I only played online for like 30 minutes and I really liked playing with real people but with real people came some shitty tactics.

Grr, I got my code from Green Man Gaming, but it's not valid! I sent them a email hope they can send me a new one. I wanted this game to download while I was gone for Memorial day, I have very slow internet.

Just ordered off GMG - I found a 20% off coupon which worked so I ended up getting the game for about $30 (not too sure what the price is for you guys in the US) but $30 here is a very good price.

Sadly for us Euros - the game isnt released until the 31st of may.

Will be buying this tonight.

Only people which have come to mind that I have raced with are eRocker a long time ago in GRiD, Fullinfusion DiRT 2 and One Moar DiRT 2 or 3 not sure.

One thing I like about these codemasters racing games is someone can be over the other side of the World and can still have fun in game instead of complaining about how laggy it is.

At least we know the servers are very unlikely to be removed this time.
