Apparently Slate PCs are still a thing because Gigabyte Technology is preparing to release a new such device, the S10M. Pictured below, the upcoming slate is 14.94 mm thick and features a 10.1-inch (1366x768) touchscreen, a 1.46 GHz Celeron N2805 (Bay Trail) dual-core processor, up to 4 GB of RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4000, and either a solid state drive (64/128/256 GB capacity) or a hard drive (320/500 GB or 1 TB).

Gigabyte's slate also has a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, a Gigabit LAN port, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 support, an optional 3G module, an SD card reader, one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 port, an HDMI output, and two 1.5 W speakers. The S10M runs Windows 8.1. No word yet on pricing or availability.

I have an old Asus Eee Slate EP121 Core i5 based tablet PC (Core i5 470UM 1.33GHz Turbo Boost up to 1.86GHz) and its still a reasonably powerful solution given the form factor. It still has it shortcomings but I would much prefer it to this Gigabyte option and any such similarly anemic solution.

I guess I just don't see the market for it, maybe because I've never used one or I've seen tons of tablets and none of these.

Considering it's rather thick and the specs are cringeworthy, it better be REALLY cheap.

Why not a APU and higher res? seriously, then display port and the power to use it as a real computer with expanded USB port offerings.

Oh come on, the specs are not that bad. The screen is no star, but the rest of it is fine. it's as thick as an RJ45 connector, which is quite fine with me. I like bulky things. It can't be too expensive obviously.

The power/charging jack doesn't seem to align with the hole in the chassis of the PC :/

I was thinking that. looks really messed up. Even if it was in align i would still not buy it as the best way is to have the casing to support the connecter so it don't get loose.

And if there all alike the above OMG it break in no time.

intel needs to stop monopolizing tablets with their crap as gpu-cpu setups and let amd take with their 100x more suited APUs ffs. also being intel means this thing has highr temp tolerance so the back will definitely reach 90C.

where is my jaguar core tablet.!
