MY Corsair HX1000w has lasted since 2008 and 3 builds. For most of that time it was powered on 24/7. Still going strong today

So my question is how long has your best or current PSU lasted?

Corsair RM650 used since end 2013
They're still up and running without issue

Well, I bought my Corsair CX600 from a user on this forum back in August 2011, so that's almost 4.5 years of heavy use (WCG/FAH). Pretty sure he hadn't used it yet, though.

Before that, I had an Antec NeoHE550w which was in my hands since 2008, and now it's still going strong in another rig. Naturally I brutalized it, but now it sees lighter use.

If I had the money to do everything all over again I'd get different power supplies depending on what I was going to be running, only to gain better efficiency, and have higher quality power. Realistically, what I have now does the job, so...

Have one CoolerMaster Silent Pro M500, I bought around 2007-8. No issues what-so-ever. It is still inaudible after so many years ( in my parent's RIG now ). I don't know what bearing they used on its 135mm fan, but it really is great.

For my gaming rigs the Corsair HX 750 I have now is around 3 1/2 years old. I usually do a new gaming build quicker than that but Skylake did not really impress so I'm sticking with what I got for another year. My Dell at work has been upgraded but the PSU is going on 10 years and doesn't cause any problems. It's a damn tank. One person I worked with had her Dell for 14 years without upgrades and it didn't fail.

My Seasonic in my machine now is almost 4 years old. The Corsair GS800 in my gateway has to be at least 6 or 7 years old at this point.

5 years usually. And it is really max by hours... caps should buldge then, you have to do often check ups.

The seconds... during the 3rd year you have to replace the fan... it just starts ratlling often...

I use mostly Silverstone SFX 450w PSU. My oldest one is 7 years old living in my media rig. Currently have 4 of those, 3 of them being in active service. I have yet to see one of these breaking down.

Corsair GS600 first generation here. dont even remember when i bought it, probably was 2009. fingers crossed its still running. One of the pins in the ATX connector (3.3V one) had gone a bit loose because of so much use but it was an easy fix to pull it out and press the tabs in again.

PCP&C Silencer 750 Quad. 7 or 8 years old now and still benched hard even on todays hardware. No sign of any flaws. Awesome Seasonic based unit.
IMO, there is no substitute for Seasonic.

Yea, thay may run. But during time their ripple rise, as the caps dry out. It is a constant. The better ripple filtering for the cap it does, the less it lives. So at the end the usually 2000-10 000h life span various death scenarios may reveal, depending where they reside in circuit, and if it may cause hell to further devices.

So, to have a sleep better at night, if there is no warranty, after 5th year the should be recapped. At least you must open up the device and seek for some strange looking ones.

Makes me wonder how long my powerbrick will last from my Asus ROG laptop.

Or do they just last much longer than PC PSU's?

Well my thermaltake Litepower LT-500w just does not do it. It is functional but every time I hit the table or put a higher load on it, the PC restarts. So I consider it dead and replaced it with the cooler master extreme power plus 460w and all my troubles are gone. I voted 3 years since that is how long I have this PC.

Corsair TX850 has lasted well over 6 years, and been using this Enermax Platimax 1350 for about a year without any issue.

Why would someone like me do that when my Seasonic has a 7 year warranty? At least Seasonic thinks it should last for at least that long if they're offering such a warranty.
So sure, maybe every 5 years might be good if you don't have a quality PSU or much overhead compared to max output.

Ok I would not replace a PSU in 5 years that has 7years of warranty ofcourse.
But for example my dads new enermax PSU, I believe it has a warranty of 3 years (not 100% sure though).
My dad only uses it for e-mail/internet mostly, maybe no need to replace in 5 years then because there is not much load?

I am aiming for 10 year mark before swapping it. My 7 year old Silverstone 450w SFX psu saw a lot of different hardware in its life time. From Core Merom cpu to all the way up to i3 Haswell.

I am kinda emotionally attached it it. But if it shows signs of taking 4 2TB HDDs with it as farewell gift, I will have to swap it.

IMO, there is no substitute for Seasonic.

I stopped using mine in my system around 7 years, normally just use it for testing now.

Disregarding the possible need for more power, one may also want to replace the PSU to take advantage of new features such as connector types or to sue low power states in newer CPUs after a system upgrade. These are quite the edge case though to be fair.

Corsair AX 860 - have had many different PSU´s over the years - but the Corsairs and the SeaSonics where the best, in terms of life and fan noise

MY old Corsair HX620W lasted me 2008 - 2015. Starting this year my pc would power on, post, then power off. Second attempt it would be fine until next shutdown. Replaced with RM750 and no more issues.

RIP, my HX620. Loved that PSU, saw me through a good 4 builds, including a hungry overclocked 1100T with 2x 5850s overclocked in crossfire.
