Any Need for Speed fans around here? Apparently not many considering no one made a thread about latest NFS game that just got unlocked even for Europe (Americans had it for 1 day more).

I'm just about to play it and I'm quite eager. Rivals was a bit meh, but after looking at some of NFS 2016 photos, it has the Underground vibe to it and even though that wasn't my all time favorite NFS, I had some amazing moments in it and all the talk and comparison of modified cars and tips, tricks, and just the whole feel of the game. It had some sort of indescribable flair. It was just call talking about it on forums and I never even played any multiplayer with those. NONE. So, lets see :)

Meh...can't say any recent NFS release has impressed me... I'll likely pass on this too. The originals (1, 2, Porsche Unleashed, 3), the original Hot Pursuit and the original Most Wanted were it for me...the last one I bought in 2010 was pretty eye candy and utter shite in the racing/gaming department. I'll play Dirt 2/3 here and there, and will pick up the newest release of that when its on sale...but NFS lost its allure years ago...at least for me.

I hope you enjoy NFS 2016, but I'm not holding my breath of another good NFS to be released at this point...I think that era's come and gone and like the CoD's and Battlefield's it's more re-purposing a polished turd with a new title...not interested. I could be wrong with this one...I haven't been bothered to research it...but let's see what hype you can build on the NFS 2016 train! :D

I played the pre-release on Origin, and I can say it is visually stunning, if only the racing was good it would be a great game. LOTS of video cuts scenes and the "rubber-banding" in the races is extremely frustrating. The police and competition AI is laughable and really takes away from a good experience. But it is visually stunning to look at, but that gets really old really fast. Might pick up the full version when it approaches the $20 range, but the game play is not worthy of a triple A title.

My 2 cents.

You re right to a certain extent . There are a lot of other games , where one can get in car ( not only) and drive along but also RPG . Regardless , I am a fan of NFS

I plan to get it. I loved Carbon and even had fun playing World(because it was basically a grindy MMO version of carbon with no story).

I might get it when i get bored with Project Cars and Dirt Rally i cant see that happening soon though.

I still play Rivals occassionally but not for the driving experience.
Shift 2 Unleashed was my favourite NFS.

I must say initial impression is very positive actually. There are several dumb things like stupid menus clearly not designed with keyboard or mouse in mind, but when they said they'll be returning to roots, they weren't joking. Cutscenes with CGI and real actors are back, something I loved in original Most Wanted. I like the actors as well. They got some charisma so far and I've barely started playing. And when I heard Quantum Singularity and Callista soundtracks from NFS4 while I was fiddling with my Subaru BRZ in the garage, I just gone full nostalgic. It's a really nice touch. I wonder what other legendary dedicated soundtracks I'll hear. Some may say it's lazy to use old tracks, but I think it's a really nice touch. And they've been remixed a bit so they aren't just a direct copy.

Driving experience? I picked BRZ for obvious reasons. RWD. And with the tweaking, I think I'll be able to tweak cars to behave like they have in NFS Hot Pursuit 2010. I'll make them my perfect cornering drift machines. Which is again cool. It gives you control over handling in a big way so you can go full on traction for perfect line or cornering with more drifting. Driving model is good and you can turn off different driving assists for more pure driving experience. I still have to fiddle with it a lot...

And the whole audio visual presentation, it's Frostbite Engine. What do you expect? Graphics are mindblowingly pretty and it runs at 100+ fps most of the time with everything set to max on my system. So it's really smooth, not that horrid crap in Rivals running at damn 30fps. Something worth waiting all this time for sure.

Looks like it wasn't such a bad idea to reboot the NFS series. If they'll continue to build on this newly set foundation, we just might have some interesting times ahead.

Anyway, it's 2 AM now, time to wrap it up for tonight. Morning. Yeah...

Both. It's similar to how NFS Nnderground 2 had. Open world with races on individual segments. You can start them by driving to them i the world or selecting them on map. You can also challenge random racers on the open world. Haven't tried that yet, but I liked that in NFS U2 where system picked a random destination in open world and you had to get there first in a duel. But I don't think it works like this here.

I'm somewhat interested in this, did enjoy the underground series and carbon, also who doesn't like to play a good looking racer? I'm somewhat concerned about the rubber banding though and don't see myself paying full price because of that.

I got my copy on CD-KEYS store. It was 35€ which is perfectly acceptable for a brand new game. The price on Origin store was a bit expensive if you ask me.

@DarkStalker
Yeah, I've seen that issue too on Reddit. Try checking needforspeed sub there. Not sure what causes it exactly as I'm not experiencing it with keyboard.

I'm a big fan of racing games but I won't buy this because I have so many other racing games still to play (GRID series and Dirt series, NFS series).
I used to play a lot NFS Most Wanted 2005 and NFS ProStreet 2007.

You may have gotten me interested.

I spent countless hours in Midnight Club on the PS2, NFSU 1 and 2, and Carbon.

Then I lost touch with it, and it became kinda stale really quickly.

I'm still trying to get car handling closer to what I had in NFS Hot Pursuit 2010. I'm quite close now. Some more fine tuning.

I prefer the Type R, i´m nostalgic jajaja @P4-630 you can modify all the setting, can make a Drift car o a very handling car...

I'm using keyboard. There are driving assists like Brake assist for easier drifting (easier to initiate drift) and Traction control (eliminates fishtailing and losing power with burnouts). If you decide to turn these two off, you'll have to fine tune handling to compensate for this. I'm like 2 hours into the game and all I've done so far was fiddle with car visuals and car handling hehe :D I want to figure out driving model and then I'll go after races.

BRZ looks pretty sweet in white with dark matte rims and dark windows. No decals, no exstra crap.

I signed up for Origin Access so I could try it out early. They added wheel support but just not MY wheel(G25) So I tried custom mapping and unfortunately it acts like a gamepad so I was a little disappointed. Was pretty tho.

Isn't G25 like one of more popular wheels? Besides, why it even needs to be made specifically for one wheel? Each wheel just has a certain range of motion and that's that. But I guess calibration settings are too complex today (but weren't back in the 90's)... Weird.
