by Specification form nvidia website, 900 Series doesn't even support OpenGL 4.5.

Some guy from youtube said "According to Id engine programmer there is no difference in features between AMD/Nvidia despite the version difference. Doom uses 4.3 with some features of 4.4 and 4.5, Nvidia just shows it as 4.5 and AMD 4.3."

It's sound like true, no one would make OpenGL API per GPU Manufacturer but also could be false..

390 Series support OG 4.5 but 290 Series support only OG 4.3

Nvidia 900 series support OG 4.4

Edit:

OG4.5 Hardware support: Nvidia GeForce 400 series and newer, AMD Radeon HD 7000 Series and newer, Tegra K1, and Tegra X1. (Via Wiki)

But this doesn't change that Doom could use 4.3+.

My 7950's work with the most current drivers without issue. It is probably a hardware issue on your end.

Also those cards were mined like hell and then sold used. Having 2 bitcoing mining-raped cards that will BSOD is almost a guarantee if both were purchased on ebay.

Brand new cards, bought at release. Used in the same computer that 580 SLI ran with flawlessy, well atleast they didnt "break" a couple of years down the line. I really don't have any confidence in AMDs reference-design with blowers at all.

It still does not make any sense for it to work with drivers that old and not in the newer ones.

But this doesn't change that Doom could use 4.3+.

Those specs from IHV:s websites are from the time when card was released, and they hardly ever update them.

For OpenGL support there is conformant product list on khronos website:

Though I have to say if graphics card is not in that list it does not yet mean that there aren't driver which support newer opengl versions(I.E. amd has opengl4.5 drivers but their gpus haven't put through khronos conformance api tests).

Both AMD and NVidia offer OGL 4.5 all the way to Fermi/Terascale 2 (all DX11 cards), but some extensions aren't well implemented or are cheated in, for example in all HD5000/6000 except the WLIV4 ones (6900, old APUs), 64-bit floating point is emulated.
Intel limits their cards in Windows to whatever they wish, for example Haswell is limited to 4.3 and Ivy to 4.2 even trough they are perfectly capable of 4.5.

Forgot to mention, to have full 4.5 support in an HD5000/HD6000, you need to use the Crimson beta drivers, old Catalyst have 4.5 in main OpenGL but GLSL (shaders language) is only in 4.4.

Mine are from 2013 purchased new and work with any and all drivers...I am still betting a HW issue since thats what the BSOD you got links too.

And what will you do when NV releases a bad driver that somehow fucks up your card (which it will, looking at their drivers in the last 2 years). Where will you go then? Intel? Via? Qualcomm?

Nvidia? and you say somehow? so another words its something that happens very very rarely and to only people that dont keep an eye on there cards temps/sensors etc. I had my stint with AMD cards for the past ummm almost 10yrs and most of it good, but with my last cards (280x's) I had so many issues with any driver after 15.7 that I just had enough, so back to Nvidia in my main PC which I havent had since around the 8600GT-9600GT days. (My LAN Box runs a GTX 650 TI btw)

Ohh right and the problems that nvidia had with windows10 few months, is very rarely thing.

Both drivers aren't perfect, both had problems.

Nvidia driver superiority over AMD is myth.
