Hehe, same here. Anything I throw at my GTX 980 it runs butter smooth. But for some reason I want to trade it for RX 480

. This means AMD is doing something very right, somehow

I wasn't this hyped over GTX 1080 when they were showing it live. I guess the ANSEL or whatever that is, VR, multimonitor and the static techdemo didn't convince me enough

Then again, if I'd trade GTX 980 for RX 480, I'd stay on around the same level. Which is why I'll have to wait for Vega if anything. Or convince myself I don't really need it and save the moneyz for the Navi in 2018...

I think Navi is applying the Fusion concept to GPUs. It means a great deal to AMD (they can provide exactly what customers want in an APU) but I don't think it will mean much to consumers.

Vega is just a big Polaris. In the size difference, it's very Fury'esque. Fury's big die really didn't translate to huge FPS gains. I am hopeful that Vega will impress but I'm not holding my breath for it. NVIDIA will undoubtedly have a bigger chip too (e.g. 1080 Ti). It is too soon to tell where Vega would stand compared to NVIDIA's offerings.

Polaris is a decidedly low end product with midrange aspirations. If it pans out then that bodes well for Vega. Fury was obviously not as successful as hoped and it was a first step into HBM but somehow it was a cost they had to take. They had better capitalize on their early experience gains because you know Nvidia will not be sitting still. That said, the later half of the year will be quite interesting again. One more day to go!

Looks like the 240 cards are for dp 1.2 ports and 270 is for dp 1.4, hmm....

Thinking further there doesn't seem to be a lot of purpose to the 1.4 ports at this price point imo so need real need to pay for premium.

I got told yesterday that the AMD Radeon RX480 8GB Ref. cards at one of my distributors is lunching at about $276 / €251 / £208

This is actually kinda cheaper than I excepted bcs normally u have to $200x1,55=$310 for the 4GB model so this card here is really cheap mby it's bcs of the lack of a DVI-D port dunno :laugh:

Pascal prices made many people worrying about Polaris prices. It seems that prices will be better than expected. AMD can be blamed only for delaying the 4GB version so they can sell more 8GB cards. I wonder if they will delay RX470 until 1060 becomes available and a threat.

Well even for 1080p 8GB of vram can be nice for sometimes and if u r like be pushing 1440p then more than 4GB vram is necessary sometimes depending on how the game has been optimized.

Stores often prepare the items on webpage, but until NDA or sales block is lifted, they have SOLD OUT status even though they have them in stock. Rarely stores have status "AVAILABLE SOON" as an optional status.

Prices I talked about before I forgot was ex. vat so but I am signed up to get a Sapphire Radeon RX 480 8GB ref. card home should land tomorrow.

Prices incl. vat for me is $336 / €306 / £253 so now I need that active adapter I will order that tomorrow so should have it Friday :laugh:
