AOC Announces the AGON AG251FZ 25-inch 240Hz FreeSync Monitor

AOC's AGON line of PC monitors has been increasingly added to by the company - which usually signifies strong sales and brand recognition. In trying to cater to an even more diverse consumer base, AOC has now added a new offer to their AGON line of gaming monitors: the AG251FZ.

The AG251FZ 25" is a 16:9 ratio monitor, which comes in at the still-dominating 1920*1080 resolution, sporting a TN-type panel with a 1ms Grey-to-grey response time which allows it achieve a 240Hz refresh rate. The panel offers 16.7 million colors, brightness of 400cd/m2, contrast ratio of 1000:1, and pretty decent viewing angles of 170/160. On top of that, the monitor also includes AMD's royalty-free FreeSync (active from 48Hz towards the 240Hz maximum refresh rate), with 1x HDMI 2.0 and 1x DisplayPort 1.2a adaptive sync compatible inputs, as well as more legacy 1x DVI and 1x VGA inputs. The monitor also features a connectivity hub, sporting 4 x USB 3.0, Audio out/in, and Microphone in/out ports.





The AOC AGON AG251FZ comes with a 130mm height-adjustable 'Ergo Dial' ergonomic stand which can also tilt (-3.5/21.5 degrees), swivel (-10/20 degrees), or pivot to portrait orientation. Alternatively the monitor can be fitted to a 100 x 100 VESA mount. For portability (and that LAN party trekking, if you're into such things), the AGON AG251FZ also includes a carrying handle.

This panel will release in January 2017 for £449 (around $560 directly converting the currencies, but I trust American customers can count on a lower price).

Likable monitor despite still being 1080p. I also like the fact it has wall mounting option. Some vendors just forget to include that. Can't imagine having monitor on a stand ever again, having it on a wall is so much better.

Really? Doesn't it stay too far away from you? I'm curious about wall-mounting the monitor, but honestly, am afraid I'm just going to end up with a wall full of holes if I don't like it...

I have my ASUS monitor wall mounted. Not only does it look better, now I have a lot more room on my desk.

I don't have an option to wall mount it since I have my desk in the middle of my livingroom.
Even if I could wall mount it I'm still not sure I'd do that since if you want to re-arrange the desk a bit you have a problem with your fixed monitor.

It's something to consider, definitely. That extra desk space really is coveting. Especially if I could make my own ambilight-like solution for it... That would be amazing. But I don't have the arduino skills for that, I'm afraid.

It al depends on what type of wall mount you use. To easily removable the monitor if need be. And some mounts are adjustable.

It's quite easy to install actually.
P4-630 having your desk positioned like that, ya no wall mount. Some desks come with back brackets to mount screens. But may not look nice In your case.

And the price is too high, why would anyone buy a 25" 1080p TN 240Hz monitor when you can get 27" 1440p IPS 144Hz monitor for less.

Wall Mounts. To mount your Monitor or HDTV onto the Wall. I think most mounts have the proper hole patterns. I didn't have an issue mounting my Asus to the wall.

Yeah, I do know that. But past 5 monitors I have owned have all come with those mounting holes. I just were curious is there really monitors without those holes.

Many monitor makers are excluding wall mounting option these days. also if there is a wall mount option then the included one is non standard one especially on some curved ultra wides.

"those mounting holes" are caled VESA 100 or VESA 75 depending on the distance between the holes (75 and 100 mm)

Well it would first have to be actually recorded at something like that to be able to see anything different, which I doubt many things are.

Last time I was monitor shopping I actually had problems finding a monitor with VESA mounts within budget.

Living in an apartment, i use desk mounts. Still miles better than normal stands.

That what I was wondering... I'm thinking you'd want something like the up-coming RX490 to push FpS to find 240Mhz useful, and for all that hardware you'r still just staring into a 25" 1080p TN, while dropping >$500 for the privilege ? I don't get it...

Wouldn't this Acer XG270HU 27" WQHD Edge-to-Edge Frameless 1ms Adaptive-Sync (Free Sync) 144Hz, HDMI DisplayPort Monitor that Newegg has for $350 after $30 off w/code EMCFFGG27, (ends 11/28). I'd rather have the resolution than some theoretical "maximum" refresh rate, wouldn't more dependent on the Game and card ability to generate.

And I'd much rather have VESA mounting holes than some fancy stand, as yea I'm more about getting that big of panel securely fasten in So Cal, but even more so if I lived in really earthquake prone place like North Oklahoma.

I have a big house but still prefer wall mount for monitor as it helps in freeing desk space and helps in reducing cable clutter. I really dont understand why VESA mount is getting culled its not as if its costing monitor manufacturers any money. I want to get a variable refresh rate monitor but I am currently sticking with Dell Ultrasharp monitor as they have Vesa mounting option.
