Via Facebook, AMD has confirmed that Vega is nearly here - at least, as nearly here as a "this quarter" can be. This means Vega will launch in two-months time (Q2 extends through the months of April, May and June, after all.) Through a post on its Facebook page, AMD replied that Vega will be coming "when it's ready... And it will be this quarter."

According to previous leaks (and our own deep dive on Vega's architecture), Vega should go a long way towards bridging the power/performance gap between AMD and NVIDIA's GeForce series. It will be the first time since Fury that AMD will have a competitive, high-performance graphics design (expectedly, and hopefully, since no-one likes to buy over-priced graphics cards.) The fact that AMD has teased Vega in two different pieces of media that come out in May (Arkane Studios' Prey, which comes out on May 5th, and Alien: Covenant, which also comes out during the month of May.) I've previously posited that AMD wouldn't tease Vega's launch alongside one of the most promising games of the year without giving us the chance to power it through Vega come launch day, but as Prey's release date approaches and there is no more information on Vega (much less an announcement), it's looking increasingly likely that we'll have to wait until we can see that universe in all of its Vega-rendered glory.

Bigger Vega must be faster than 1080.
Success if bigger one trades blows or is faster than 1080Ti, fail if there is 10% gap, epic fail if there is a 20% gap.

I wonder, if there will be anything called Vega close to 1070's (too high for what it is) price point.

The star known as Vega is 25.05 light years away from earth. Wouldn't it be cool if it was released on the 25th of may? :D

Really, really cool, and I would love if if that were to happen (from a purely tech nerdy perspective, I'd lie to get my hands on one sooner than that, but I'll take the coolness of that =)

Haha, nice find. I think something might actually be in that :D It can't possibly be such a coincidence...

It would be too perfect to be true xD

Eagerly awaiting Vega's launch and reviews. It's about time that Nvidia faces some much needed competition again.

waiting for Vega is like fapping, you never know when its gonna .... get here, until the last minute. o_O:rolleyes:

Summer is coming. We don't need a space heater anytime soon. Just take your time AMD.

I saw a post the other day, maybe from Redit, where the response from AMD, IIRC, to a persons inquiry about Vega release date and the response was the location of the Vega star ;) And yes, that would be VERY cool!

Vega is coming. We don't need more weak trolling FUD. Just take your crap outta here. :)

My guess is that NVidia knows what AMD is up to a lot more than anyone else except for AMD them selves. So I feel that the new AMD King pin GPU will be right around the 1080Ti speeds give or take a little pinch other wise the 1080Ti was for no other reason but to show off and eek their own customers.... just my opinion.

Dang! I can't believe this, if it actually will come out on 25/05 I will flip out xD

E3 is coming up June 13th so my bet would be either a release as part of E3, or maybe just before E3 as companies have been doing to jump the gun on the hype train. As it is already all the big news usually tends to come out 2-3 days before E3.

ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..............

If that is the case, I'll be buying whichever one runs more quiet.

Coool, I was about to order a 1080 for the ryzen build but in this case I'll be patient a little longer. :D

Edit: But I just bought a gsync monitor. Dammit :banghead: I think gsync is better than freesync, but it's mega annoying the technology forces you to use 1 brand or another. That's not cool.

I can handle a month I guess. Gives me time to finish my new loop. Wonder what heat output will actually be. If it is >250w like is rumored I should be good with my new radiator setup.

I'd like to do a dual loop config, running a powerful GPU in the same loop as the CPU really negates the benefit of WCing the CPU in the first place! Unless you have a monster rad I guess.

It will eventually find a delta and be fine. There are three rads in my build so I can split the GPU's from the CPU with a radiator and that has worked well enough in the past to keep everything cool in the loop.

I just hope that Vega is worth the wait. If its just up to 1080 performance then it will be a let down in my book. They really need to at least compete on the high end to give their brand a chance to shine again.

It WILL beat the GTX 1080. That's not even a hurdle. It's how close it comes to or beats the 1080ti and in what game environment. It'll be a push to beat the 1080ti but not impossible.
