AMD AIB Partners' RX Vega Manufacturing, BIOS Release Schedule Leaked

That's what I ended up doing. AMD's vaporware schedule gets old fast.

It's what I might end up doing as well. When R9 Fury X was endlessly postponed, I ended up getting GTX 980. RX Vega nowhere to be seen, GTX 1080Ti is a very likely candidate really... I was optimistic and all, but if they are only getting BIOSes on 2nd August, the release won't happen till autumn 2017. That's just retarded.

You mean that this is a fact?
Another Fudzilla lie. Vega will have to compete against a Volta GTX 2060 LOL

Nvidia acts as if AMD doesn't exist. They are literally competing against themselves: And their GPUs happens to scale very nicely each generation compared to CPUs hitting a ceiling.

AMD still has a lot of marketshare. They may not compete on the high end but they do in the midrange where most of the cards are sold.

Source for that is some bloke called Fuad Abazovic, so how much salt I need to take for actually believing on that "news".

I guess you don't know who Fudo is then? He's quite well renowned in the industry, especially when it comes to graphics related information. He's been around for quite some time and knows a lot of people in the industry, so you shouldn't need much more than a teaspoon of salt :p

Only thing that would save this launch is if AMD has managed to pull the wool over everyone's eyes and has managed a dual GPU sitting on Infinity Fabric signaling the end of the large die era...but that seems like a HUGE stretch.
I still think that's a possibility, and it would be epic.

BIOS on 2nd of August probably means that the reference design RX Vega will get to be on sale short after and the AIBs will be ready a month or so after that. So, less than 3 weeks to be sure what's going on with RX Vega. My 5 cents.

Well this is disappointing if correct (Probably is because of how silent AMD is), with so much waiting they are literally waiting until Nvidia releases something which will completely butcher this card by the time it comes out (In all areas).

I wish they would have just given up and gone with GDDR5X for now...

I'll go ahead and order my 1080ti. Done with waiting for this imaginary card. Finally went Intel last year waiting for Ryzen to finally show up, and now I guess I'll jump to NV waiting for Vega to finally arrive. AMD has sullied the opinion of a lifelong customer on both fronts due to this debacle. (The stock is still keeping me happy though).

I don't know why most around think Volta is going to be a much better arch than Pascal-Maxwell. Imho, Volta is going to be more suited for DX12 and will resempble more to CGN than to previous nVidia archs. Might be better executed but not sure what will come out compared to previous gens. Let's see RX Vega first and we have many months until consumer volta GPUs go on sale, especially the affordable ones. Again my 5 cents.

Right now it is a toss up if AMD releases consumer vega or nvidia releases volta first. This is turning into some kind of bad joke.

Well the more times goes by the more unlikely that refresh will be. If vega had been released on i.e. January, then of course nvidia would have to respond with pascal refresh. Now we have only seen updated memory speeds for gtx1080(just because faster mems been available) and gtx1060(respond to RX 580). So in some point of view pascal refresh has already begun.

They would have to need more performance to do more than a refresh...If they can push clocks up a good bit with a redux it isn't all bad.

Nvidia should do 2080 and 2070 with GP102, 2060Ti and 2060 with GP104 and 2050 with GP106 using big daddy Volta for an eventual 2080Ti and the inevitable Titan.

They should sell their graphics division to Intel. They're just not able to compete with Nvidia. They're too far behind at this point and it doesn't look like Vega is much better than the current chips they have.

The original design team that worked on GCN was entirely Canadian. Their current graphics design team is entirely in China. Notice how since 2012, that's back when they released their first GCN based cards, AMD's graphics chips haven't improved in any significant way.

From an optimistic point of view, this BIOS schedule means that Vega FE is definitely not a card for gaming tasks, and RX Vega will have a lot to offer.

From the tweets from amd and raja i get the vibe that the software side of vega is nowhere near ready. Basically the software team going all out to get it well enough for release. Its a completely new architecture which wont shine without ironing out the drivers well. The bummer is that on launch date the gaming rx vega wont be at its best and will probably be underrated and seen as a disapointment. On the bright side however, rx vega buyers will get constant meaningful performance increases and by a year later end up with a card that is then faster than a 1080 ti or even a titan. Such has been the case in many occasions. *Refer back to 780ti cs r9 290x release date review vs later reviews*

Betting on which card will be the best outdated card is not a good way to buy a product.

It is becoming painfully obvious that the main culprit of Vega's issues come down to drivers. You have games where Vega FE loses to the 1070, and then games where it matches the 1080 Ti!

It will be fascinating to see how good Frontier will become once rasterization, Power usage, and other features are fixed/enabled. Frontier literally just seems to be an unready product that was launched so AMD could claim they launched in H1.

September is when RX Vega will truly be ready, and it better deliver...

Yes and no. If its prices right then its a win gor customers. Ur basically buying a product thats constantly improving, hence stayimg relevant for longer. As for me personally 1 year is hardly outdated as I keep gpus for 2-3 years(with the exception to my rx480 that i got in march for 235 and sold just yesterday for 400)
