Various AMD Ryzen "Raven Ridge" Models Put Through 3DMark

Ahead of its February 12 launch, various models of AMD Ryzen "Raven Ridge" APUs, in both their notebook and desktop iterations, were put through 3DMark, which is perhaps the best way to put AMD's combination of its latest CPU and GPU architectures, to the test. Pictures also surfaced on Reddit, of the PIB boxes of the Ryzen 3 2200G and Ryzen 5 2400G, highlighting their "silver band" demarcation from the rest of the Ryzen processor lineup. This silver band features prominent Radeon Vega graphics branding, indicating that the model is a "Raven Ridge" APU.

Armed with 704 "Vega" stream processors spread across 11 NGCUs, the Radeon Vega 11 integrated graphics core of the Ryzen 5 2400G is AMD's fastest integrated graphics solution by far. It's also the fastest integrated graphics solution fully integrated with the CPU silicon (unlike, for example, the Core i7-8705G being a multi-chip module). The entire Ryzen "Raven Ridge" APU lineup was put through 3DMark 11 "Performance" preset, by someone with access to all of them. The 2400G leads the pack with 5,162 points, and a graphics score of 5,042 points. The 2200G, which features 512 stream processors, and lacks SMT, manages 4,151 points, with 3,950 points graphics score. The 2400G scores somewhere between the desktop RX 550 and the RX 560, which makes it possible for you to run "Player Unknown's Battlegrounds" at 900p or even 1080p with some details dialed down.

Scores the same as my GTX 960m, thats pretty damn good! and for the price its awesome! Take my money!

In fairness, that's an old GPU (nearly 3 years) and that 960m is an under locked 750ti equivalent. Not criticising but you'd expect that APU to smoke a 3 year old low level mobile gaming chip.
The success will be based on how it compares to today's offerings and guess what? On a price performance standpoint, nothing will be able to touch the Raven Ridge chip.
 
We're in a dark age right now, ill take whatever i can get outta these chips. RX 460 grade performance is great for many, many things.
This is a fully competent GPU on a chip, and a cheap one indeed. Great stuff.

All about memory bandwidth, pairing it with some great high speed memory should make it shine a bit better.
3 year old gpu's ain't bad, even a 290x does well in 1080P in all titles and feels like gpu's are at a standstill >_<
 
The massive benefit is surely nobody will mine with it? Unless someone builds multiple rigs all on Raven Ridge.
 
These will sell like hotcakes, if you want one you should probably pre-order it otherwise the stock will be depleted very fast
 
If the DDR4 prices ever go back to normal that 2200G is gonna be mine.

Well RX560 level performance would cannibalize their discrete GPU sales so it would make no sense business wise to release a APU with that much power.

Edit. Not saying that it wouldn't be great though.

That's not possible because a dGPU will always have the advantage of GDDR5/6/x or HBM as opposed to shared (DDR4) memory for an APU. DDR5 will close the gap, but even then it'd be no faster than a 1050Ti.
A KBL-G type of solution can work, though it'll be really expensive.
 
Well - I might just buy one for the living room. I think this will make a good and relatively cheap living room PC for browsing, video and light gaming. I imagine it is quiet(ish).

Not quite. A GTX960 performs much better than a 750ti.

Yes the desktop 960 perform a lot better than 750ti. But the 960M used in mobile is not GM206 chip that used in desktop 960. The 960M is using GM107 which is the same chip that powering desktop 750ti.
 
I'm not familiar with AMD's current GPU's, can someone save me the effort and give me a summary on how these compare to nvidias 9/10 series based on those scores?

GPU as in the RR (APU) IGP or AMD dGPU comparable with Nvidia at the same scores?

I'll throw in some guesstimates anyway ~ the top (desktop) RR IGP could possibly touch GTX 750Ti or 950, except in bandwidth limited scenarios.
 
I'm not sure about how these chips will work out in PUBG 1080p gaming market, which they seems to just barely handles it.
